Fixed it. I adjusted OAL to right at the top of the crimp groove (1.45) and cranked the roll crimp die down until crimp diameter was good (0.378). Cylinder plunk okay. Looks like the bullet puller die on its way from Amazon won’t be needed!

I have a couple hundred rounds of 38 special that won't plunk into my revolver cylinder. Most can't even be forced in the cylinder chambers. I reloaded these about 12 years ago on my old SDB and I clearly messed them up. I think the problem was with the crimp. Since then I've upgraded to a 650 and have loaded thousands of 9mm & 45ACP so I have a lot more experience/confidence in my reloading skills. However, my 38/357 dies are still limited to my SDB machine (vintage 1994). I intend to re-adjust the machine from scratch and load some new rounds from clean once-fired brass. Once I get the reloader dialed back in can I pull the defective rounds and resize them (without the decapping pin) to preserve the primed brass? I would also be happy to entertain any ideas regarding the original cause of the FTFs if you have opinions/expertise. 38 special HSM brass Laser Cast 158gr LSWC

Maybe not... Trinity Force mil spec carbine-length tube failed on my 9mm AR first time out.

I bought an assembled FM-9 upper from Brownells during their Thanksgiving sales. Mated to a New Frontier Armory lower built by "Critical Capabilities" (also Brownells sale). Geissele trigger, Magpul collapsible, C-More Railway 8 MOA dot, misc. parts. As I was building it I had a question and sent Foxtrot Mike an email. 'Paul' immediately texted back and we traded some photos that helped me figure out how to tune the ejector on the lower. Just got out and tried it yesterday and it worked 100%. I heard something rattling around in the stock area and found that the back of the buffer tube (Trinity Force cheapy) had blown out! Good thing the Magpul stock has a rubber pad covering the tube hole or I think the buffer would have slapped me pretty good. I have emailed Trinity Force to see how they respond but I'm not sure I want another one from them. Just for kicks I sent Paul the pictures (below) and he immediately responded with an offer to send me a FM-branded tube and HD spring. Super customer service!

Bought mine through Brian. Failed on first pull of the handle. Replaced (no charge) w/in two days. They just sent me the die insert. I used the old die body.

My quick and dirty count... In the Phoenix area the following monthly club-level matches are available year-round: USPSA: 13 IDPA: 6 Steel: 8 ICORE: 2 Other Pistol: 3 3-Gun or Rifle/Shotgun: 6 Sub-Gun/Belt-Fed: 3 Furthermore, the quality of these matches is enhanced by having a large number of top shooters. There are other clubs in AZ outside of the Phoenix area as well (plus a lot of desert area to plink in). If you live here, there are more matches than you can shoot! Lots of shooters shoot two-three matches per week.

A couple of points: 1. I live about 5 minutes from the Rio range and I can only get satellite internet. Yes it sucks. Local has nothing to do with it. 2. We need more cool matches ran by competent MDs at great ranges like Rio Salado. 3. No matter how the match registration is done, there's going to be a whole bunch of people shut out of the deal. 4. It's not just about Rio, the demand for matches exceeds the supply. Get your club to host a match!

The micrometer is cool if you're going to work up new loads/new powders or if you change calibers on your SDB. If you normally set it and forget it, it's not worth the price/hassle. I installed one on my SDB and use it for multiple calibers and work ups. I don't have one for my 650 because it's more of a production machine vs. an experimental machine.

Yep. I've been shooting a 229 in 9mm since I started USPSA about a year ago. My theory was that I should shoot what's in the safe until I get good enough that the gun is holding me back. That's not the case so far...

Mine happened on the first pull of the lever on a new 650. Brian Enos made it right with a replacement from Dillon within a couple of days.

Priming adjustment = set screw in back of machine (handle side) that acts as a stop for the primer slide.
