  1. Ok, FINALLY found a listing for a Eclipse that mentioned the mags being 105mm. That makes much more sense for a sub compact kind of pistol. Now to find a 9mm one... Thanks for the help!
  2. Are the Eclipse and VIP grips the same length? 1/4" doesn't sound like much shorter then full size, but it would help some for carrying
  3. I currently own a STI Edge 9mm and absolutely love it! It's a wee bit large to be used for ccw work however, so I am considering buying a Total Eclipse or V.I.P. Of course they don't make either any more so it would have to be used or new old stock. However, the only mag lengths I see listed on STI's website arw 120 mm and up. I believe the flush fitting ones on my Edge are the 126mm, does that mean that the Eclipse and VIP grips are only 6 mm shorter than full length? Of course I could be missing something too lol. Thanks!
  4. I always wear pants, I find them more comfortable, normally old blue BDU style. But that's just me. I would highly recommend breaking down your gun and mags asap after you get home and dry then clean them. I waited 2 days last year.... never again!!
  5. Looks like most have the long vertical ribs and a couple had horizontal ridges a little less then half way up. The gun appeared fairly old, so likely the mags were too
  6. The seller offered to back out as he had stated all of the mags were hi caps... not worth it with only 10s. I very much appreciate your timely advice!
  7. I've got a quick question- can 10 rd STI 2011 mags be converted back to full capacity? I'm buying a Eagle that comes with 11 mags but all are 10 rd mags and I really would prefer the full 14. Thanks!
  8. My wife shoots a Glock 19, I've seen quite a few ladies at my local club shooting Glock 9mms
  9. I always bring a spare pistol that takes the same ammo and mags. Thankfully I've never needed it, but my buddy had an issue with his pistol and needed to borrow my spare. The way I see it, it does not take up much space but could save a match!
  10. I've gone left hand only for barricades and just as a drill, but never using my strong hand to support. Many LEO's train weak hand only shooting... but both hands reversed roles would take lots of practice!
  11. I just bought 3, so when they come in I'll give them a try. I see the replacement followers, but what are the spacers I might need?
  12. I would buy them if I were you, can not ever have too many mags. If you don't want them... PM me
  13. With the lack of hi cap mags available right now, I got to wondering if a STI 38 Super/9x21 magazine would work in a 9x19 pistol? Perhaps replace the follower.. I would think the may bodies themselves would be the same. Anyone tried?
  14. hanks A45100! I ended up finding a good deal on a Edge and bought it... now to buy a blade tech holster for it
  15. I've been using plated 200 gn bullets for several years after switching from lead because the lead seemed much dirtier in my 1911's. As for shape, 2 out of my 3 1911's won't feed the swc for anything, the other runs it just fine. I would recommend a round nose for feeding reliably in pretty much all pistols
  16. I've left powders in the hopper for a month or so here in MI with zero issues of any kind.
  17. Welcome! I agree with reading a few months worth of posting in the reloading section, excellent way of absorbing tons of useful info!
  18. I use vertical mag holders, mostly because that's what I've trained with and used as a LEO for years. I really like having the exact same may position every time and it seems more comfortable of a grip as I draw it.
  19. I've been using a red fiber optic front sight on my 1911 in 3 gun matches for several years and love it! Seems to be a faster sight picture
  20. I know Blackhawk Serpa holsters don't fit the STI Edge, but does anyone know if they fit Eagles with the standard length dust cover? I use a Blackhawk Serpa holster right now for my 1911 I'm just wondering if any of the STI 2011's would fit. Thanks!
  21. Thanks Paul! Right now all I shoot competitively is 3 gun, which at my club means mostly steel, for which I prefer my 45's over the 9's as it knocks them over with much less bother. This pistol will thus be primarily for 3 gunning, if I ever get back into IDPA I could always use my Springfield if the STI is not allowed in the class.
  22. I stumbled across this this forum while researching STI's, which seem very popular here, and see a vast wealth of info so joined up. I mostly shoot 3 gun matches, and have been competing on a local level for a few years... always more to learn though and tons to absorb right here. Happy New Year y'all!
