  1. If you are asking how much of your finger you should put on the trigger, I always use just the first pad of my trigger finger.

Yea, I do the same. But depending on the backstrap my hand and trigger finger are in slightly different positioning. I have my pad of my finger on the trigger both ways, but I wonder which way allows me to pull back straight the easiest? I guess I'm thinking about this in a human anatomy, physiology kind of way. I dunno, should have just got a gen 3 lol.

  2. I'm having a hard time deciding what the proper trigger reach should be. I have a gen 4 glock and I've been playing around with different backstraps and I don't know what I should really be looking for. Is there a rule of thumb or anything? I typically wear L/XL gloves so I guess I'm pretty average. I've never put this much thought in to this with 1911s before for some reason.

  3. I got to put a few hundred rounds through it today. Ejection was weak and had a few failure to feeds but I think that was because I was shooting Remington UMC 115g, which is a weak factory load, combined with the heavy recoil spring. I'm going to order parts tonight. Deciding if I want to do a Vanek classic kit with a 5.0lb firing pin spring and 15lb recoil spring or the GM kit with a 4-4.5lb firing pin spring and 13lb recoil spring. Vanek advertises 2lb triggers with the GM kit, that's why I'm a little hesitant on it. Never had a trigger that light. He also warned against using a 5lb firing pin spring with the Jager striker because I may get pierced primers.

  4. The beavertail is nice on the gen4, keeps the web of my hand from getting chewed up by the slide.

Yea I got a gen 4. Ordered from Grabagun. Delivered same day and arrived at my FFL the next. Can't beat that. Made late December/early January.

I have TTI sights and base pads coming tomorrow. Anybody know if the stock mag springs work well with the small +3/+4 pads or are Wolff +10% better?

  5. Right, so our spring will go with our tungsten guide rod. We're using a 1911 spring that works with our guide rod in production. I have a video coming soon.

A tungsten rod that makes production weight? Damn. What about if we are using your small base pads?

  6. Honeybooboo,

I would also do some polishing! Do the $0.25 trigger job. I can't remember if the web's variations of the $0.25 trigger job include polishing the plunger, but polish that too.

Also get a reduced weight plunger spring.

true. I have my gunsmith polish everything and he gets it mirror like. I like the looks of the DK trigger kit too but I dunno if I want to play around with overtravel.

  7. Jager and Zev strikers both have a good track record and most used. I haven't had experience with them but have heard good things.

Reason you want that barrel? I see no need honestly.

I dunno. It's cool lol. People seem to get better groupings with KKM's. From what I've heard it seems like KKM might be making Zev's barrels and then they just add some flash to them.

  8. Ok new idea and I want to order it tonight to get this stuff in.

    TTI sights

    TTI Grand Master trigger kit

TTI stainless guide rod with 13lb spring

    Zev striker

    Zev barrel in black DLC

  9. Almost positive TTI striker springs are 4.25lbs. You'll be fine pairing it with your 13lb recoil spring.

So what striker should I go with? Because I don't trust 4.25lbs with a stock striker. Zen, Jager, anyone else?

  10. I've been so confused with different part combos on the web that I think I'm just going with TTI everything. TTI sights, trigger bar or grand master trigger kit, and steel guide rod with 13b recoil spring. TTI base pads.

My concern is that if I run the 13lb recoil spring with stock springs in everything else I don't want to have an out of battery situation. Not sure what striker spring comes with the TTI kit. I've used a 4.5lb in a 17 with a stock striker and never had any problems. Maybe I'll go with a 5lb to both ensure that I don't have an out of battery problem and to make sure that I don't have light strikes?

O and I'm going to use a KKM or ZEV barrel.

  11. DK Custom Triggers and Vanek both make an excellent competition trigger.

Yea I hear good things about both. I had a Glock Triggers Guardian on my 17 with a 4.5lb striker spring and it was pretty good. I want to get rid of some over travel though.

  12. I have a Glock 34 coming that I want to get started in USPSA production with. I originally bought a 1911 to shoot single stack with and I don't shoot it very well. Not near as good as my Glock 17. I bought a good one too lol. O well. I have some parts in mind but want to make sure this is production legal.

    - Vanek classic GM trigger with the Jager striker: Is this the best production legal trigger that has overtravel adjustment or am I better off going with a Ghost connector with the overtravel tab?

    - Jager stainless steel guide rod with 13 and 15b recoil springs.

    - Dawson black competition sights .105 front with a .115 rear

    - TTI small base pads

Anything else besides practicing a lot with it?

  13. I put the Dawson Novak adjustables and FO front sight on a DW Heritage and they worked great.

    Just give them a call.

I emailed them. It's a .125 rear notch width which is pretty good. I run a .125 black rear with a .125 black front on my Glock. If you focus it's a good sight picture. I may try the novak adjustable with a .115 or .125 front sight with fiber optic. I think that'll help with focusing on the front sight and looking through the rear. But maybe I'll love these Heinie sights and I won't have to change a thing. But I'm very picky about sights.

  14. Dawson Precision sells an adjustable rear sight to fit the Novak cut. It says it fits Dan Wesson guns. You could call them to confirm. Although it says out of stock, my experience is you would not have a long wait to get one. Here is a link to Dawson's site and the adjustable rear: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=800017DF-1388518381

Dawson also sells a fiber optic front sight in the Novak cut that can be had in a large number of heights and widths to match up with the adjustable rear. Here: http://www.dawsonprecision.com/ProductDetail.jsp?LISTID=800017E4-1388518381

Dawson sells quality sights and I think you can match up what Dawson offers with your personal preference.

Yea I love Dawson. I get all my sights for my Glocks from them. Out of stock means nothing. Just means it takes an extra day or two to manufacture them. I've looked at that rear Novak sight before but I have no idea what the rear notch width is and it drives me crazy when manufacturers don't list it. Guess I just need to email them lol. Thanks for the help.

  15. I ordered a DW Valor a couple days ago. I was debating between it and an STI Trojan for a while. Went with the Valor because it just seems like it's a step up in quality with the parts, fit and finish, etc. I've never been able to handle a Trojan so I can't say from personal experience. Just from what I've read.

I bought the Valor for a range gun and possibly to get in to USPSA SS. My concern is with the sights. They use a Novak cut and come with Heinie ledge sights which are more of a tactical sight. The advantage to the Trojan was the Bomar cut and having more target/competition oriented sights. Am I limited by having a Novak cut. Should I do a Trojan instead?

  16. Glock 34 is perfect for production! Probably the most popular gun in the division. It also is very popular in 3 gun too.

My best advice would be to start 3 gun ASAP. It's way more gun and there are a lot of lessons you can't learn until you encounter them in matches.

Holler if you need any help getting started or finding a match.

Thanks man. Big fan of yours! Always rooting for Team Stag when watching 3-gun nation.

  17. I came across this looking for a Glock gas blowback. I guess Glocks are hard to get now. This isn't technically a G17 but it has a G17 slide on a Lonewolf frame. It seems to be well liked by the owner of the shop, but he's trying to sell it of course. I'm new to airsoft but I know the big companies and I haven't heard of Echo 1 before. Apparently the frame has been modified to resemble a 1911 grip. Not really a fan of that because I want a Glock grip but I don't think there are many Glock options in the U.S. anymore. So, any thoughts?

  18. Hey guys. I've been wanting to get into competition pistol shooting and need some help. I plan on doing USPSA, IDPA, and whatever is available around me. I will be purchasing a gun for comp shooting and was thinking a Glock 34 for production class. Is this a good way to start? Will a Glock 34 work in IDPA? I'd love to get into 3 gun as well but I want to build my pistol fundamentals before getting ahead of myself.

I don't have a ton of shooting experience but I really enjoyed what I have. The good part about that is I can get some instruction and learn the right techniques before getting used to bad form. I have a PA driver's license and permanent residence but have been living in NY so I've been holding off. I'll be moving back to PA soon and want to get started right away. Are there any good schools/instructors in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas that are targeted towards competition pistol shooting?

Also, how does traveling to different states with guns work? Is it dependent on the state? Say I legally own my guns in PA and want to go to NJ or NY to shoot, how does that work? Sorry for the dumb questions and thanks in advance.
