  1. That's great..any idea how much weight those extensions add over the stock mag?
  2. Having a Shadow 2 built for Carry Optics. As we know..making weight comes right down to the wire, but to be competitive more rounds are needed in the magazines . SO, What mag extensions and guts are the lightest..? Obviously we want as much capacity as possible..and of course fit the gauge. Realistically I need to be at least 20 + 1. 22 or 23 would be better. Suggestions or data?
  3. Gng4life thanks I figured out how to activate the Spy Mode, what I'm looking for are the settings that make it work properly. Such as what sensitivity setting...to use ..shooting outdoors with open gun..and /or any other variable shooters have run across using the Shotmaxx in spy mode...Thanks
  4. Hey guys just got the Shotmaxx and have only used it for dry fire practice, but I'm going to shot a match this weekend . Wondering what settings work for spy mode, I'm shooting a very loud open gun if that matters at all. Thanks
  5. I use the red spray..it dries in seconds.Much easier and less messy than a marker. I have a 2x4 drilled out and spray 100 at a time. The spray is the only way to go. Brass looks like candy..can't miss it on the range.
  6. Now that you have a gun in hand so to speak and you still want the 38 super comp , think hard about waiting a year for the Brazos. I have a Pro SX and the thing is stupid reliable. Bob knows how to build a gun..thats why the wait is long. Yea his visual design does not change much like many smiths do, its a constant evolution of a proven design. I will warn you though the Pro SX is a very loud gun right there with the Infinity IMM. Range officers stay away! But if you go that route you can concentrate on shooting cause the gun will have no issues.
  7. you will blow that gun up trying to make major with clays….Dont do it!!!!
  8. Lol alot of top smiths dont like Aftec extractors..and there guns run forever..I have a limited Fat free by Benny that has never failed, and a Brazos Pro SX that has never failed both have traditional extractors..I thionk caspian...are you saying they are doing something wrong?.
  9. Brazos Pro SX two rounds failed to go bang due to high primers = my bad, about 8500 rounds thru her..I consider it to be zero malfunctions cause the two rounds where bad nothing to do with the gun.
  10. ok so bottom line 9mm only advantage is it good if you dont want to pick up brass and it would be cheaper if you did not pick up your38 super brass...but since38 super shooters do , super can and will be cheaper. 9mm can be as realable as a 38super gun but the majority of guns with feeding or ejection problems are more likely to be 9mm. Infact i know 9mm shooters that have gone to the sideways mount only to eliminatie malfunctions. yea that sums it up
  11. ok you can do that but you still cannot use N105 for example( and there are others) in that 9mm case and make major.( that particular powder is low pressure and makes more gas) in fact even in 38 super you could not get enough of that powder in the case to blow up your gun. Maybe your smarter then most cause i see a lot of spent casings out of 9mm open guns with flat primers.
  12. I get my pressure data from Quickload, and it tells me that 38SC can be loaded to Major at significantly lower pressures than any 9 Major with currently available powders. My QL data is almost exactly on (projected velocity) for both my 38SC load with N105, and 9 Major load with HS-6. The 9 load is 5k psi higher at a similar PF. thankyou G - Man Bart felt like i was pounding sand up my ass...some people are going to believe what they believe reguardless facts...do not know why i was my energy with the obvous
  13. The top open shooters shoot 38S because that is what they started with and why change when you are a winning GM. Wow you really believe that? They can shoot whatever they want..they put guns to the only real test ...the TIMER..not how flat you percieve it all about the Timer.. At that level you are looking for any edge and it is clear by their actions what they have found.
  14. if 9mm was better all top shooters would use it, i bet if even 1 of the top 10 at the nationals shot 9mm we would all be surprised Also 9mm does run at extremely high pressure compared to 38 super. Just look at the primers compaired to 38 super..and yes high pressure i is harder on your gun..and that is not a smith preferance thing its a fact. All this being said can the average guy see higher scores shooting a 9mm vs 38 super..if both guns where equal? hard to say but no one will say that the super gun would be a disadvantage. + 1 outer limits
  15. dont want to cause an areguement here but once you shoot your super brass 5 times it is cheaper then once shot 9mm brass that came out of random guns to begin with.the next 10 times will save you money if you plan to but dont have to use expensive V V powders. and you will find gun builders that will tell you 38 super with the right powders is much easier in you guns with no signs of high pressure ever when compaired to 9mm. Just give Bob @ Brazos a call and discuss that with him,,,he forgot more then most of us will ever know!!
  16. I think your getting mislead slightly here by the 9mm guys when they say if you have a lot of money use super. If you can get your brass back super is absoluty cheaper to shoot SUPER then 9mm. Also you can run your gun at much lower pressures and it will last longer using powders like n105 which is not availabe for 9mm as the case capacity will not allow it. Another advantage of super is you can reload the brass 15-20 times and that is how it is cheaper...but you have to pick it up. It is an extra step but you can paint your brass with dychem which is what i do and i loose very little brass , if the range is well worn or gravel i get 95% back at a local match. Lastly another advantage exist in super that being , you will not need to use spacers in you mags , with for some have caused problems ,but in general 38 super is less finicky then 9mm they tend to have less feeding issues. Not to say that 9mm cannot run 100% it can for sure! If you do super you want 38 super sc its rimless and you can uselly get another round in the mag ove 38 super.
  17. Coco..mine is a full blown firebird open gun...all the things I said in the prevous post still hold true...3 still areas need to be smoothed out. Mine is as smooth as butter when you feel the action.
  18. Coco..You need the new gas sytem from firebird I hope you got it. The gun does not run well with heavy loads if you have that gas system. Mine runs remmy 2 3/4 dram EQ...1150FPS light target load. make sure you wath the vidoe by Firebird on dissassembly or you will dammge the feedramps. the first time out it more then likely will gouge the upper reciever due to sharp edges on the bolt..specifically the flap on the top of the bolt ...that needs to be smooothed out. if you dont do this prior to shooting the gun expect a bunch of metal shavings in the reciever area. If this happens you need to smooth alll effected parts including the uppper reciver..and run this gun extremely wet. Glad you have an 1000..the barrel throat needs to be smoothed out aswell..the area around the notch for the extractor is very sharp round all the corners..feel your 1100 and compair. Lastly ythe action that the bolt rides on, the arms have lots of rough machine marks sand all that smooth. Did I say run it wet..real wet...Mine honestly runs 100% and the action feels like butter. you have help me on the open gun side many times ..I thank you for that...if you do all I say yours will run too...remeber that if you have the new gas system DO NOT TRY TO SHOOT HEAVY ROUNDS...the bolt out runs the mags and you will beat your head against the wall and blame the gun..ps its recoil is not soft like a remmmy..so shooting light loads is much easier on the old bones!
  19. so its the arrow not the Indian?

  21. NICE...i just got 3 of the new mags to convert when Jim gets the extensions made...My gun is running great as well..dont have any issues, no new springs or the feedramp you had done...just used common sense..cant wait for more capacity!!!
  22. Had a chance to test them out?? What are your first thoughts in durability? i wont use them until i get +5 extensions
  23. Great advice...Nobody but Brandon should touch that gun..but now I would shoot it double plugged for awhile. As far as load development goes..why bother you have a proven flat load for your gun..learn to shoot it. One of the advantages of buying an Infinity or Brazos and a couple others are that the load development has already been done ..No need to add that distraction to the process...shoot the gun even if Brandon updates it to the newest version it still will be loud as hell...talk to him he gonna tell you their open guns are the loudest out there..but the performance is there aswell
  24. 3 mags showed up at my house today! from center fire systems
  25. Just shoot it it aint that bad..the performance will be stellar...after awhile you will not notice the blast unless you focus on that instead of shooting... Dont even consider rebarreling the gun.the new ones are close to the same as far as loudness/ blast..these guns are among the best..who cares if the ROs hate it!!
