Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Guys any opinion on what airlines are best to work with when flying to the westcoast with weapons in hull bags. I have the FAA regs, but I am wondering if there is one airline more in tune with what I need to do. Thanks Jack
  2. Don't worry to much using mine since 1995 no problems yet Jack
  3. Anyone have a load for 44 special 250 gr LSWC with WW231 used in a 3" to 4" S&W a nice plinking load, no ram slammers please. Thanks in advance Jack
  4. Can anyone answer this, if you shoot both do you re-shoot the pistol stages or will your scores count % wise from the N. Il section match? Jack
  5. As of this date I have gotten two entry forms so due to low intrest and mounting production costs and a 3 gun match being held in Dixion Tn. WE ARE GOING TO HALF TO CANCEL THIS EVENT. If you have sent in a entry form / payment please advise if you wish it destroyed or returned to you. Sliver Creek ICORE will still host quarterly matches and will post when they are set for this year. Please pass this on to anyone who may have been thinking about attending. Jack
  6. Chuck, for whats it worth in Ky, Southern Ohio and In. I will get to shoot 10 to 12 1500 matches so thats right at 1800 rounds in actual comp. Practice I go through around 4000 more round's, reload the practice stuff use Nitro 100 clean and price is right. Have never seen a Hot Load as the rules state the bullet most have enough velocity to pass thru the target and backer board. And I have seen 148 wad-cutters stuck in the cardboard. Have seen more K frames since most guys bought there old duty guns ( a lot of Mod 10's) when there PD's went to Auto's or the L frame. My gun is a old Mod 10 with large grips if the rules were factory grips I would have to go with the L frame for fit for my hand. As far as re-builds can't help you there use a Clark set up and they build them right I would say with both PPC and NRA Action round's threw that gun I have on the plus side of 45,000 rounds of standard 148 WC and 158 RNL and that gun shoots better than any one who has shot it, I mean the stress is not there compareded to a open gun with the old 175 power factor IPSC ammo. Let me know if your article gets published love to read it. I like PPC try to shoot all the events but it seems to me its a dieing sport very few new shooters at least in the 1500 match the duty classes in the area are doing great but the 50 yard strings kind of turn new shooters off. Merry Christmas Jack
  7. OK gang buy local demand we have added one extra division "He Man" you will shoot in Lim for over all score and trip to prize tabel but there will be a special award for this division. Rules it has to be 44 or 41 caliber and the ammo must be a self defense / hunting load ( full house or stay at the house) just mark the entry form "He Man" and I will try to squad you all together so we can med evac you all together. Jack
  8. Hop, I'll see thats going to be real close to the PPC nationals and since they were canceled last year kind of want to make them in 2006. Jack
  9. Attached is the Icore Match Application. It will also be sent to Icore's website and my revolver shooter list. Hope to see you there! JackIcore_Application.pdf
  10. Ok gang hope to have a PDF style application and info sheet on this and other web sites by end of next week, waiting on a hotel to get back to me on a rate. Round count is going to be between 225 and 250 with 4 classifers, 10 stages at least one texas star and one big steel stages. Side match is being finalized might be shotgun as Sliver Creek has just rebuilt there trap ranges self start multipile thrower type thing or a plate rack regardles it will be cash pay back. Jack
  11. Wayne, you and your crew put on a fine match. Hope you are crazy enough to go threw it again in 06. Thanks for the hard work.
  12. Fomeister, to answer some of the questions you and others have asked regarding PPC, though I don't agree with it, most leagues are open to Police with arrest powers or police academy instructors only. This means turning a segment of the wheelgun crowd away. Also with a majority of the law enforment commuinity using semi-automatic weapons, some guys will shoot a sport with there duty gun or a like model for the training value. Since the Seond Chance match, bowling pins have gone away but hopfully not forever. With this sport being time/labor intensive, it is hard for small local matches to generate excitement. ICORE actually has a good cross-over with the NRA Action and some IPDA. Now that many NRA action guys have went to the auto, there old open wheels are coming out of retirement. In my opinion, wheelgunners are a different breed and will usually stick together. At the 2004 TN State match, Hopalong loaned Cliff Walsh his weapon to finsh the match. I think unless you are riding in a car to a match together, the average open shooter is not going to do something like that. The wheelgunner usually is shooting against himself or Jerry M. They don't get tied up in the "what-did-so-and-so-do" thing. Wheelgunners are there for fun. How do we make other shooters want to try this division? Look at GSSF and how many new production shooters has your club seen from your annual GSSF match? If S&W,Ruger, etc. start something like GSSF but for wheels you proabley would see a increasce in your division registration both in USPSA and IDPA. Create a match that will not overwelm a new person with different facets of the sport . . . but a level playing field to excite the average shooter and the class will grow.
  13. S&W 625 5" it's the standard. don't worry about the MIM parts. Pre MIM guns I would look at the gun shows and pawn shop's Moon Clip holders you can get by with the stuff in the Dillon catlog but I would look at TK Customs site he has some high speed no drag gear. Sights SDM seem popular just check brownells they have a bunch Custom work I am told TK Custom is good, Clark did a PPC gun for me it is top notch, also S&W performance center package deal they did a carry gun for me good work fair price quick turn around, you might also try Mag-Na-Port did some work for me three years ago was good price and turn around no complaints. Might want to polish charge holes and chamfer the edges. I do not change any thing on my gun just slick it up keep it 100% no playing with the strain screw type stuff Reloading make it a 200 to 230 and a clean powder like clays, Nitro 100 etc Good luck put the bottom feeder away
