  1. Thanks guys. I think ill get some loctite 272 which was a 100 degree higher temp range and some loctite primer if that doesnt do it im gonna have to put a set screw in it.
  2. Thats what i assume cuz its the only thing that makes any sense just really surprises me i cant move it even a little by hand.
  3. Had something odd happen to me yesterday and was wondering if you guys would have a clue to whats going on. So took my open gun to the range (CZ sp-01) and did some shooting with it. I normally check the comp randomly to make sure it's not coming lose at all as I've had it happen before when I was running a loctite knockoff but haven't had an issues with loctite 271 which I used last time I installed about a month ago. Anyways after putting 100rds yesterday it looked like the comp was coming lose but it's clocked to the right a ways and rubbing on the frame, the weird part of it is I can not move the comp by hand at all it's like it's prefectly loctited in place but something has changed for it to be off. So am I missing something that can play into the comp looking like it's moving or is the loctite broke but still strong enough that I'll need heat before I can even budge it. The its a little side to side play on the sides of the bottom barrel lug but not much.
  4. Actually according to quickload I can make minor with a 130gr bullet and Norma R1 without even going above 30k psi. I think a lot of people assume that just because a powder is one line faster on the burn rate chart that it must produce a higher peak pressure vs one just a tad slower and that is not the case more times than you would think. Like I said earlier I wasn't looking for any load data just powder comparison really like powder A burns so fast and takes X grains while powder B burns faster and takes less grains kind of thing. Don't worry I'm not new to reloading so I don't think I'll blow myself up or atleast I haven't yet with my 50gr or 175gr 9mm bullets
  5. Ya its best to also check the quickload estimated velocity against chrono velocity and see how they match up.
  6. All this guessing on pressures geez. Garmil i put the above load in quickload and it comes out to 32753psi so below +p range. Im not looking for any load data just which fast powders produce minor PF with less of a charge. Id just use quickload to compare all the powders but it is missing some pistol powders.
  7. Just was wondering which of the fastest powders had the lowest charge weight to reach the same velocity. An example is red dot is faster than titegroup but it takes less of a charge of TG to reach the same velocity as the red dot load. Just as a reference im working with 124 9mm loads most of the time.
  8. I also assume this is why a gun with barrel ports and a comp works well. If you read about building silencers the spacing of the first baffle plays a big role in back pressure and cycling of semi auto rifles.
  9. Just because you can get it to work with some powders doesnt make it a good bullet for the application. Good thing is its easy to test. Get some good jacketed bullets and try them with the powders that arent working with your plated bullets. You would probably be better off running a coated lead bullet over a plated one.
  10. Ya its really hard to say the powder is causing the accuracy issues and not the plating just failing will the faster powders.
  11. I agree looking at the pic I would think mag springs.
  12. Thanks for the info on the holsters I'll look into them, I won't be at tuesdays match got some market hog loads going out at the same time unfortunately Added: looked into the holster and ghost has one for the SP-01 that looks like it will work prefect, thanks.
  13. Didnt get more than 50rds through it before the comp worked loose. T&N asked if i wanted a set screw which i probably should have got but if the loctite keeps failing ill put my own in it. But im loving it so far. Groups seem really tight with one load at normal pratice speed. As far as recoil goes with that load you wouldnt known it was major if i didnt tell ya. Tho 8.7gr of aa7 still has a little bark to it.
  14. Sent tooth and nail armory a SJC 11 port comp to do some work on, looks way better than the square block I started with. Still need to get a magwell on this thing just been waiting and hoping CGW would release theirs.
  15. Just throughing this out there. But maybe the reason why slow powders are working good and fast powders arent has to due to the barrel/ bullet diameter. As many rounds as you have through that barrel your rifling could be barely gripping the bullets and when spun faster by the quicker powders it could be losing some of its grip kind of like when you overdrive a lead alloy and twist the rifling off the bullet. I have no idea if thats whats going on but you could always try some .357 bullets with the faster powders and see if that cures things.
  16. What bullets are you running? What is the bullet diameter? What does your barrel slug at?
  17. Ive been thinking about getting a cheap 9mm to cut up and do straight port testing on. I think high pressures would be key but without doing any testing i just dont know.
  18. I guess it depends on how cheap they were.
  19. For a open gun build, Just something I want to play around with.
  20. I've been thinking about putting a flat bottomed firing pin stop in one of my CZ pistols and wondered if anyone else had tired this. They offer flat FPS for 1911's, has anyone ever tired to modify one to work in a CZ pistol I don't have a 1911 anymore so I can't compare the stops side by side. If one can't be fitted I'm sure I can just weld up a stock one and grind it flat.
  21. Thanks for the info guys. Im in the early stages of playing around with my cz open gun so trying to soak up as much information as possible.
  22. How important are the vertical barrel holes when it comes to keep it flat? Are they some how better than a compensator with more vertical ports?
  23. Im gonna say its a primer issue and not a gun issue at all and heres why. You said that at first you tired the round in SA and it didnt fire than pulled the trigger again in DA and the round fired. How CZ's are designed in SA the hammer falls with more force than it does in DA. Most likely the first attemp is seating the primer fully and the lighter da hit is setting it off. When experimenting with Sub 8.5lb hammer springs i found that if it doesnt go off the first time but does the second time it was a primer seating problem if its a hammer spring weight issue it wont go off at all.
  24. 125gr coated lead 6.0gr of WAC Win primers 1.140 OAL 170pf Barrel is 5.25 with no holes.
  25. Thanks guys. I was mostly looking for people that have done it to there own guns or had it done and what that liked/disliked. In the process of building my open gun so stroking it is on the table.
