Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I bought a Witness 10mm a while ago that needed a new sear and hammer. I ordered the EGW prepped sear and hammer that Henning Walgren offers and installed them. Everything went well on the install but now when racking the slide back, sometimes the hammer does not go back far enough to make the trigger reset. When this happens I have to manually thumb the hammer back and then the trigger will reset. What would be the cause of this problem? Also my 10mm has a single action only trigger if that means anything.
  2. I placed an order almost two weeks ago and have not received it yet. I also emailed him for the status of my order and got no response. Is this normal to wait this long or get no response?
  3. Sounds like the sear & hammer are worn out. The easy way to test out the sear to hammer hook engagement quality is to cock the hammer back, then over cock it until the hammer bottoms out then release the hammer so it snaps back to the "Cocked" position. Its best if you over cock the hammer with your thumb nail then allow your thumb nail to skip off the hammer allowing it to come back forward with the maximum amount of force. If the hammer drops past the "Cocked" position when you do this then the hammer hooks & sear engagement point are worn out and they need to be replaced. Using a 20lb recoil spring is pretty excessive. The stiffer recoil spring will only make the gun muzzle flip more when it recoils. A 16lb recoil spring should be sufficient to handle the hottest 10mm rounds. No matter what recoil spring you use that slide is coming back super fast and hard impacting the frame. The gun is designed to handle this slide to frame impact. I did the test and the hammer does follow and stops at the half cock position. So my next thing to do is get a new hammer and sear. I was thinking about getting the EGW set. I do not know who I can have install and fit them though. Any recommendations for a smith? Or is there any other sear and hammer set that's better quality?
  4. I have an EAA Witness 10mm with a single action trigger installed that I purchased used a bit ago. Before taking it to the range for the first time I changed out the recoil spring to a 20lb. I was reading that its a good idea to run the 20lb for the 10mm. The one that came with it seemed to be weak, maybe around 15lb or 16lb. I get some hammer follow about every 5th or 6th round and the hammer, when it does the follow, stops at the half cock point. Im wondering if its the stronger recoil spring making this happen or something to do with the single action trigger. Any advive on possible causes?
