  1. What press, what primers? I have used mostly Remington and Winchester brass for years and have never seen this problem with the Winchester brass.

When I had my 550 and 650 if I found a raised primer it was usually due to "operator error", failure to fully push forward to seat them. Now that I have my 1050 that situation has been eliminated.

  2. I am going to shoot my first Steel Challenge match later this month and want to practice for it. No steel, so I cut circles etc. out of the no-shoot sides of IPSC targets and will use those. I have the course setups from online but need some pointers as to how best to shoot the stages.

Without giving away trade secrets, what is the best way to shoot each of the following:

    Smoke and Hope

    Speed Option

    Five To Go

    Pendulum

    Outer Limits

    Accelerator

    Roundabout

    Showdown

If possible can you explain which plate to start on and what order to shoot them with, obviously, the stop plate last. What is the quickest way to get each run done?

Also, what are the procedures for Showdown and Outer Lilits as they have more than 1 box? Shoot each plate from each box and then the stop plate last from the last box? Or something else?

Lastly, can you give me some idea as to what I should look for as an average time on each different course. I have been shooting IPSC for 3 years and am currently an "A" class in Open division. What should I see for decent times as I do each one? And yes, I have downloaded one of my open guns with reduced spring etc. to lower the power factor for this match.

And, are there videos online somewhere of people shooting each of these stages that I can look at and learn?

Many thanks for your time, this looks like fun. I appreciate your help.

  3. Has Manny or Frank published dates that they will be having classes in Frostproof this Spring/Summer/Fall? I don't see dates on Frank's website. Anybody know anything?

  4. My usual supplier of VV N105 powder has been "out of stock" for a while now. Today I was told the beginning of June sometime but who knows. Does anyone know of a supplier/store that might have some N105 in stock right now? Just about out and sure could use 5-10 lbs right away. If you don't want to announce to the world where it might be............you can always email or PM me. ;)

    Help would sure be appreciated.

  5. I just started working up hs 6 loads for 9mm. When I move the handle on my 550 to put the primer in I get powder falling from the powder measure like snow. Any one have a reason why it does this?

    Thanks

Surefire cure is to switch to revolver, more room in the case ;)

  6. I need to develop a steel load and I want to use my VV N105 that I use in my IPSC match gun, unless there is something much better I should use. I am going to be using a Montana Gold 115 jhp. Good powder for steel load? Something better? Has anyone got a starting point they can lend me?
