Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. No disrespect to the Dillon rep as he is totally correct. I modified a RL 450 to load .223 using the case feeder (dedicated set up), but you need machine a few parts to make it work. I'm a NRA service rifle shooter, so my rounds needed is 90 per match. A lot less than the 3 gun crowd. I de-cap and wet tumble, size and trim with a Dillon trimmer die and hand prime on a Lee tool, which is not something the 3 gunners might not want to do.
  2. I found the charge bars I made for 32Long when I shot it in NRA Bullseye.
  3. For info only: All respect to Dillon Reps advice. I installed a case feeder on my 450 and it works great for 223. I did remove the powder safety bracket since I'm using the Hornady linkage and a Redding powder measure. Removing that bracket would lower the shellplate a bit.
  4. Easy to make an excel sheet for fixed bushing volumes (this is for my star reloaders). I made Dillon fixed charge bars for a 32swl setup 25 years ago - they worked well.
  5. Yes it will work. I did it on my Dillon 300 using the auto linkage and a Redding BR-30 to load 223. For .45acp: Dillon powder die setup for a 450 (fixed hand crank powder drop): Powder Measure Adapter #20029 + Powder Die #20308 + Powder Funnel #13782 550 (auto powder drop with RCBS/Hornady linkage): Use RCBS Case Activated Linkage #98911 + Powder Thru Die #88889 or Hornady equivalent #050073 + Powder Thru Die # 290034 or 290036 .
  6. Here's how I load for Service Rifle matches on an old Dillon 300. It would work on a 550 too. I clean and prime prior to running thru the press (no primer pin in re-size die). 1) Re-Size die - no primer pin 2) Powder die and BR-30 3) PW window die 4) Redding Seater Easy with the window die.
  7. Greetings, Here is how I modified the Redding Competition seater to work on my old model 1050. Hope this helps.
  8. Willfully Armed, Just trying to help you dump your 100lbs of stick powder in a relatively easy, accurate and efficient manor. My set-up worked well with Varget stick powder and I thought it may help you also and I didn't have to call Dillon or use vibratory accessories>>>> Wes
  9. I loaded over 5000 rounds of .223 with 24.5grs of Varget without a hicup using this set-up. You probably have a RCBS or Hornady powder measure. https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/107754379149384581743/albums/5359435836017016961/5359435847628322626?pid=5359435847628322626&oid=107754379149384581743 Hope this helps.
  10. I installed the BR-30 on my 1050. You do need to turn the drum around and drill & tap new holes for the case activation linkage. I loaded over 5000 rounds for our Jr. team without any problems.
  11. Hi Cecil, The only modified part is the lock ring and machine could be returned to stock configuration with a new (spec) lock ring, however, the modified ring would work fine. I'm never going back because the thrust bearing stopped the powder spillage problem. Wes
  12. Did anyone ever try this fix for a 1050? I have the same problem with 9mm Open. It would require a much larger needle thrust bearing, but It seems like it might work? Yes, you need to make and modify a couple of parts. Here's a link to my photo album with descriptions. https://picasaweb.google.com/107754379149384581743/ReloadingPresses#5551133058358573426
  13. Insert cutters for the Rapid Trimmer that chamfer the ID, OD, and also trim the length. This truley makes it a one step operation.
  14. All, Here's how I solved this issue on my old-style 1050 to load .223. Should also work for the .308 on the new 1050. https://picasaweb.google.com/107754379149384581743/ReloadingPresses#5359435847628322626 Hope this helps, wsl
