Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. A light bulb went off some time after reading this. If I manually enter the sync code, everything works GREAT. I now also see why having the all numeric sync code with a scheme that is easy to remember will come in real handy. I'll try to implement next. But for now, I an 1000% better off than before. Entering the sync code manually is way way better than waiting many minutes for it to work some of the time. Thanks for everyone's help here!
  2. Thanks for all the info...this gives me several things to try. One thing still does not add up. My 6 nooks work good with my old style wrt54g lyncsys at home but not when I take that router to the range. I shall disconnect it from the web at home and see if that is the difference. Two questons... I stumbled through creating the bootable SD card with Practiscore on it initially. 1 - best place I can find v1.2.18 2 - any good notes on how to update my nooks with this newer version. Thanks!
  3. I’m running version Practiscore 1.2.7 on Nooks NSTs rooted with Root-and-Score-It. Not sure how I ended up with such an old version. A friend at another match is running 1.2.17 and is having the same problem. The problem…I first connected my six Nooks to a network in my house, an unsecured lyncsys router connected to the internet via cable (Network A). I was able to simulate entire matches, syncing at will after making all kinds of updates to several Nooks at one time. The “master” Nook was always able to build a list of available devices in 10-20 seconds. I get to the range and connect to our brand x router there that is encrypted and not connect to the internet (Network . I am able to connect all six nooks to that network after being prompted for the password. Connection is established within 5-10 max. When I try to use the master or any of the nooks to build the sync list, it is taking minutes and minutes. So long that I think I figured out that if I wanted 10 – 20 MINUTES, they would connect. I didn’t have that much time so I packed up and came home. At home, I reconnect the nooks to Network A, everything is working great again. Match day…I figure I will just carry router from Network A to the range and use it there. I carry router from Network A to the range and retry everything standing within 20 feet of the router to make sure coverage is not a problem. Now Network A is acting like Network B!!! Taking many, many minutes to connect. So long that feature is not usable. I proceed to run the match using the nooks standalone until I can bring Network A back home to sync everything up to complete scoring. Back home connected to the internet, things worked great again. A good friend at Sir Walter Raleigh has a very similar issues using version 1.2.17. His theory is that once a Nook is connected to one network, it never functions well if moved to another network. In my case the network was the same but Network A1 was connected to the internet and Network A2 was not. Any ideas or questions? Any suggestions appreciated.
  4. Awesome! That is exactly what I needed. Apparently I was looking all around it. Thanks for the help.
  5. I need to create a mailing list to notify shooters of any important match information. I have a lot of email addresses in EzWinScore that have been accumulated over the years by previous MDs. Any suggestions on a quick way to extract all the email addresses? I think the underlying database storing the information is Sybase SQL Anywhere but I have not been able to find a reader that I can use to open the database directly. Thanks, Mark
  6. I use the "pinch method" as well. Let state that I am right handed, I tilt the gun a little to the left and then pinch the hammer from above, thumb on the left side of the hammer, tip of my index finger on the right side of the hammer. It feels very safe and secure doing it this way. I would guess I have been through Load And Make Ready at least 100 stages and never come close to a Negligent Discharge. I tried the method of rolling your thumb out from under the hammer and it feels much less secure and I feel like I have much less control of the trigger that way. Pretty easy to practice this during your dry fire time. BTW..welcome to the CZ family! I have SP-01 Shadow Custom from CZ Custom shop. (and I love it...forgot to mention!)
  7. Thanks JC, that looks like it might get me thought the process. While I am here, let me back up and confirm one basic assumption I made before I get in too deep... I'm assuming there is not a single table available that will easily run Practiscore AND be very usable in full sun (like at a typical USPSA match). I mean if I could find a reliable eInk type device that I could just download Practiscore and take off, I would strongly consider paying much more money; but I assume that is not an option. Thanks for the help, Mark
  8. Hey Bill, Thanks for all the details above...I seem to not understand one step about the first step "Create the microSD card with the RASI image" On the Root'n-Score-It page are these instructions... "The process for creating the RASI microSD card varies, depending on what operating system you're using. Click on the link below for whichever operating system you're using. At the end of each of those pages is a link that will take you to the page with next steps in the Express install." When I click on the "Windows" link, all it says is: "Windows? How pedestrian." What am I missing here? Sometimes I am a little too simple minded but I really have no idea how to create the RASI image. I downloaded the .zip file for version 1.2.7 Opening it I see a disk image file called: RootnScoreIt_PS1.2.7 Do I just copy this to the microSD to create a bootable SD card image? Sorry for the dumb questions but I don't mess with tablets much at all. Thanks for any assistance you can offer. Mark
  9. I'm thinking of setting up our plate rack bay like a steel challenge type stage at an upcoming local match. I would have 3 arrays of 6 steel, each array of 6 would be shot from a separate shooting ring at least 26 feet back. I could enforce shooting each 6 steel from one ring with the paper visible from multiple locations. The kicker is can I do this with a par time for the stage like they do at the steel challenge??? I could dig into the rule book but I figured the experts here might be able to give me the strict interpretation along with how much leeway I should take for local match. Thanks, Mark
  10. If you can list more details on getting to the bolt on the index lever I would appreciate it. My new SDB quit indexing shorty after I got it all set up. It looks like the index lever is wobbly and it not picking up the hole in the shell plate before it tries to index. Either that bolt is loose or I have damaged the index lever causing it to not be in the correct location. Thanks for any details anyone can share here.
  11. I got the Shadow Custom from CZ Custom Shop and I LOVE it. I think it is the same as the Shadow Target except for the rear sight. Stuart can give you all the details. I've put about 6,000 rounds through it and shoot USPSA local matches about twice a month. Check it out! http://czcustom.com/CZ75_SP01_SHADOW_CustomShop.aspx
