  1. I've been underwhelmed by my RF-100. It hates Russian primers.
  2. I had an LnL and am much happier with the Dillon. The priming system on the LnL wasn't that great, the case feed system left a lot to be desired, the case retention spring was a nuisance, the LnL bushings tended to work loose, the indexing always seemed to need adjustment, and they only warrant the press to the original purchaser.
  3. I trim all my 223 brass every time, so the expander ball doesn't bother me in regards to stretch. I use a F/L die in the first station to decap and partially resize the case, then have the trimmer further along, and a Hornady F/L die raised up in the last station to smooth the neck out and expand slightly. For the way I process brass, this works well. It all goes to stainless tumbler after this process, then I sort out LC brass, FC brass, Winchester brass, and anneal them. The rest becomes blasting ammo.
  4. I open the neck back up with the expander ball after the trimmer. I find it makes the seating pass easier.
  5. That didn't last long...
  6. Bulletfeeders are tempting. Not sure about mechanizing the 1050... yet
  7. Where are you Brian - you can reload for me Nothing about reloading that I enjoy . I would love to, but I'm half the country away in Illinois.
  8. Hi, my name is Brian and I'm addicted to blue kool-aid. I got in to Dillon products a little backwards from most; 1050, then 550, and now the 650 (not my first presses). I really used to think people here were crazy in a bad way... I used to reload so that I could shoot more, now I shoot so that I can reload. I don't regret going in the order that I have, but I am thoroughly impressed with how smooth the 650 is; it's really in a league of its own. Now for the problem... What do I buy now that I am in an ocean of blue? Primer filler is on order. Is this the point where my fellow addicts acquire duplicates? If so, which one do you recommend as the duplicate? 650? Please don't be too harsh, I'm just looking for the best way to treat this condition. :-)
  9. Don't count on the Grafs order too soon... They are taking several weeks to ship stuff that's in stock.
  10. I thought I've read that it is 6000 rpm.. Seems like an odd number for 60 Hz frequency, but I don't argue with what works.
  11. I've yet to see inconsistent cases by expanding after trimming. I'm getting very respectable groups with 77 SMK doing this. Only difference between my process and most is that I anneal after processing. I can assure this process is creating some of the most consistent ammo possible on a 1050. The crimp after seating assures that the neck tension between rounds should be as exact as possible.
  12. Using the size die in the last station makes things work really smooth for me.
  13. I would recommend running a sizing die in the last station, turned up so that it doesn't size the brass, but where the expander ball can smooth out the inside of the neck and expand it slightly.
  14. I have been using the Thumlers vibratory tumbler for a while now and have not regretted it at all.
  15. Put a .45 case on top of the primer follower. If that doesn't do it for you, place a .40 projectile in the .45 case and stick it on the end of the follower. Will remedy a decent amount of the skipped primer problems in my experience.
  16. Dillon is shipping these quickly. Ordered 2 550 conversions last week, shipped today.
  17. Me personally, for that quantity would usually figure $.04 per to stainless tumble, swage, trim. Usually, if I'm doing a batch that size, I'd anneal for an extra $.01 per. That's figuring shipping by the owner.
  18. Sure thing. The Hornady rings lock on to the dies. I use one head for .223 processing and reloading. I get the dies set up to where they need to be, then lock the rings. When I switch uses for the head, I remove the dies (rings still locked), and insert the other dies which I have previously set. I can honestly change from processing brass to reloading it in a matter of minutes.
  19. I have to give them credit. I called last night (sat on hold a while) and told them I had a part that needed to be replaced on my 1050. Today, I get the email saying that it shipped. Despite being overwhelmed, they are taking great care of us.
  20. I personally only run 2 heads; one for .223, one for pistol. I set up the dies and use Hornady rings to allow quick replacement without adjustment.
  21. Tom, I believe you are incorrect about the priming system. It's an additional $105.95 to convert priming systems, otherwise Dillon ripped me off, and I don't think that they would do that.
  22. What caliber did you get it in? I love mine too.
  23. Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but how far are your screws backed out on the clamp? Are they all the way out? If not, back them out further. Sorry if I sound like a dick, it took me a few minutes to notice it when I set mine up the first time.
