  1. I believe Glock mags will only work in a Glock lower, not in a standard AR magwell with 9mm adapter block. http://www.quartercircle10.com http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=285845 Tito
  2. Last I heard, metalform. Brownells have them. Tito
  3. Very easy to install, but read instructions before you start. After correct shim selection, is very straight forward. Tito
  4. Does anyone use this rail and GB combo? Did you experience any clearance issue? BTW, second rifle build with the ALG rail. Nice finish, solid installation, slim, light (11.26 oz. for 15") and the price is right. Tito
  5. Ok, I have been experiencing some feeding issues and was curious about this post. So, I decided to check my extension alignment. No matter how I turn the extension or the nut to align the tube and extension, the stock follower hangs in the transition. I even removed the nut and mated the extension and tube by hand, with the same results. So, I measured the inside diameter of the extension and the shotgun magazine tube. Extension is .935 and magazine is .915, so there is a .020 step between the two. So, the follower will hand up feeding into the chamber, since it is going into a reduction in diameter, but will freely move in the loading direction. Openclassterror, are these measurements consistent with the shotguns you've worked on? Also, the extension end that mates with the shotgun magazine is beveled allowing it to wrap around the magazine tube, so I believe the concentricity issue may also arise if the bevel of the extension is not concentric, allowing the mag tube to sit offset, even if the nut is concentric. So, I would consider a total fix one that takes into consideration the difference in inside diameters and the concentricity of the barrel nut. So I am going to start by beveling the inside of the magazine tube to create a smoother transition from the extension. I'll post if this has any effects on the feeding of my shotgun.
  6. Excellent, i look forward to your range report Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I guess I am missing something. If it is a complete upper replacement, and the lower only releases the striker, how does a trigger kit affect it? Tito
  8. I setup my brother's Mid gas AR with the RCA carrier w/ adj key and TACCOM LW rifle buffer, and is working very well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. I have the same problem on my XDM w talon rubber grip tape. I just remove the glue from the overlap and crazy glue the overlap only so I can remove it when is time to change it. Tito
  10. I put together a dedicated 22lr upper with an Aeroprecision upper and it went fairly smooth. Only issue was cleaning the barrel nut thread. After assembly, very nice tight fit with several different lowers. Tito
  11. Reptoid, what should be the length of the spacer? Tito
  12. I agree, but the issue here is not me knowing the safe direction, which we all are responsible for, but learning the rules and knowing whether the RO was justified to send you home. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. The way I've pictured the 180 was as a plane emanating from my chest perpendicular to the backstop that moved with me as I made my way down the course of fire. In this instance, the instructions given by the RO went against that, allowing me to fire shots almost 20 degrees "uprange" from the imaginary plane described before, even when there was a clear way to shoot the stage without "breaking" the 180. None of those shots were a safety concern due to the shape of the bay, but still did not seem right. In another stage a competitor was sent home for a 180 violation for shot fired just barely uprange. That type of inconsistencies makes shooters uncomfortable. For me, I will continue to use the plane analogy described above to stay safe from DQs, unless the RO indicates otherwise to the whole squad. Tito
  14. Like I said, it's hard to tell unless you see it as it was built in the bay. The first target on the right looks to be right at the 180, (in relation to the implied backstop being the top of the picture.) If it was slightly forward of the rear fault line, it would be ok. If you had to essentially turn to 180 to shoot it from the rearmost fault line, then it's a 180 trap. The first target was indeed slightly forward of the rear fault line. Tito
  15. The image is misleading. Those bottom right targets are in line vertically or farther to the right of the end of the shooting area. Most shooters chose to shoot them after they pass the second turn. The first bottom-right target, was shot by most from the first turn.
  16. Below is an image of a stage from a match last weekend. There was a discussion on whether the backstop reference for a violation of 180 remain fixed at the start, or whether it can change depending on the shooting area and the shooters movement along it. The start position for the stage was standing at the XX marks looking downrange (top of image). So, should the four targets on the bottom right corner be shot by stopping along the vertical portion of the shooting area to avoid breaking the 180, or can these targets be shot after the second turn assuming the 180 rule backstop reference shifted to the berm along the right side of the image? Essentially, can the 180 rule backstop reference shift from the berm on the top edge of the image to the berm at the right edge of the image? These targets were visible from both locations. So, after the second turn all shots to those targets would have broken the 180 degree rule if the backstop reference is fixed at the start on the berm at the top of the image. Some clarifications to the image below. The backstop/berms are aligned along the left, top, right and partially back edge of the image, so the stage is almost completely surrounded by berms.
  17. Ok, the filing worked. I had good ignition, although still had some failures to ignite. I'll file a bit more, break the edge of the chamber mouth and polish the chamber. The other thing i noticed was that a few times the bolt was held open with still one round in the magazine. I am using the better mag adapter with S&W magazines. I am planning to soften/polish some of the edges of the bolt hold open actuator of the adapter before i go out to test again. Any other suggestions on what may be causing the premature bolt hold? 18. I just completed taking apart the upper. What I found was that the feed ramp was extending all the way to the barrel chamber. This is causing the bullet rim to sit on the ramp instead of the flat of the barrel chamber. When struck by the firing pin the rim gives, instead of been pinched against the barrel chamber. Filed a radius at the end of the ramp following the contour of the bullet rim to clear the bullet rim. Tomorrow I'll go to the range to test an will post the results. Tito
  19. Carbine buffer in a carbine buffer tube is ok. Do not confuse the gas system length with the buffer/stock type. If you use a carbine buffer in a rifle buffer tube, the BCG will travel more than a rifle buffer will allow causing damage to the upper. The parts you are describing should play well together. Tito
  20. Ok here is the build parts: CMMG barrel w/ collar CMMG conversion bolt Aero Precision stripped upper ALG 12" hand guard & brake BCM GF Charging handle Election port cover and forward assist kits from brownells Put the upper together and went to the range to test. I was not able to get ignition on any bullet. There is the faintest of marks on the bullet rim, so the firing pin is not striking it with force, or the bullet is moving forward when struck. I checked the firing pin and it moves freely and it works perfectly in another upper with the conversion bolt using the chamber adapter. Any ideas on what may be causing this? In the meantime, the upper is coming apart to see how the collar is interfacing with the barrel and bolt. Tito
  21. APL-G35, i agree but bith of them go in the rifle, but just one reciprocates when firing, so weight should be half of what is shown in the photo above. Mine weights .6 oz. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Mine is working fine in lock back. Buffer tube internal length 6 15/16". Clearance between bolt face and catch 1/8". Clearance was measured just with the ULW buffer and BCG in the tube as assembled in my rifle. Tito
  23. Could you post pictures of the rusted parts? I am confused about what you call cylinder walls. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Update - went with the better mag adapter, S&W mags and taccom pressure plug. The conversion is running great and now I can practice mag changes with the BHO functionality of the mag adapter. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  25. I have a Briley LM extended and shoots a bit tighter than the Mod that came with the JMPRO for the load I am using ARMUSA AM-2 2 3/4" 8-shot 1 1/16 oz (30 gram), so it might work acceptably in a pinch. Tito
