  1. P. E. Kelley-Thanks for the tip on the wool from big45metalcleaner.com. I want to try it in choke tubes as well. I shoot skeet also and you get a lot of plastic buildup from the wads in the choke tubes. This seems to be IMO more with the smaller guages such as 28 and .410. I also want to try on the chrome work on my boat. I have had good results with brass wool but this sounds even better.
  2. Good work Gary! I was an Open shooter for many years. Eye problems forced me out of the sport for awhile but the wonders of medicine allow me to see the sights again. I came back to USPSA shooting my 1911. Then I got the bug and had to build a Limited gun. The only reason I started shooting a little IDPA was so I could compete on a level playing field with my 1911. I have yet to shoot SS at a match. However, the minute we can get SS classified I will bring out the 1911. L 1727
  3. I just purchased a Glock 26 for my "truck" gun. I would like to try it at the local IDPA match. Does anyone have any experience shooting the 26 in competition? I know the short grip frame will make it harder to shoot but I am not trying to win the match. In another post I was told it is legal to use "finger extensions" on the mags (as long as it fits in the box) and this should help.
  4. I typically shoot my 1911 at IDPA matches. However, I just bought a Glock 26 for CCW. If I wanted to shoot the 26 in a match, can I use the finger extensions on my mags? These are not the ones that add more rounds. They just allow a much better grip on the short grip frame.
  5. Has anyone used this powder for .223 with 55 grain bullets? What load did you use?
  6. This is exactly why I struggle to get excited about IDPA. The rules are so blurry that it seems impossible to satisfy every SO, especially the ones that are competing against you or those that just enjoy their short-lived power trip.
  7. Just have to add to this. My Benny 5" now has over 30,000 rounds through it and not a single malfunction. In September I shot an IPSC state match. Before the match, I took the gun completely apart and as an afterthought, decided to check the extractor. It had become so loose, it would not even hold a loaded round. But guess what???------It never burped and I had never had a failure to extract. The "MAN" can build a pistol.
  8. Hey guys, I typically shoot with an Aimpoint Comp ML2 and like it a lot. A new match is starting up that will have 200 and 300 yard shots. Where can I get the best price on the Weaver 1x3 for this match? Anybody know where I can even find one?
  9. I am cheap! 55 gr. FMJ pulled military bullets. All LC brass. Accurate 2230C data powder. Winchester rifle primers. Will shoot head "A" zones all day at 100 yards.
  10. Have you ever bought a new gadget that worked so well, you feel like you stepped out of the dark ages. That is how I feel about my new Giraud. I have used several trimmers to trim .223. A Forstner hand trimmer, RCBS hand trimmer, Lee hand trimmer, RCBS trimmer with my drill attached and finally the motorized RCBS trimmer. They all worked but they had one thing in common-----SLOW. It took me about 2 minutes to get the Giraud adjusted perfectly and then I trimmed about 500 cases effortlessly. The length stayed within plus/minus .002. Amazing and so easy. Guys, thanks for the suggestion. I feel like a kid on Christmas morning.
  11. Hi guys--thanks for your feedback. I ordered a Giraud today.
  12. I saw both of these case trimmers mentioned in another post. Which do you prefer? I also noticed one forum member said he was using a Giraud cutter on a Gracey trimmer and was very pleased. What is the scoop?
  13. I have never seen or used a Giraud case trimmer. I went to their website and it looks nice. However, for a lot less money you can get the RCBS motorized case trimmer. Add the 3 way cutter and you accomplish everything in one step and it cost a lot less that the Giraud.
  14. I have a 16" DPMS flattop upper on my Essential Arms lower. I also have a JARD trigger in this lower. I am using an Aimpoint Comp ML2 and also have BUIS. This is my IPSC 3 Gun rifle. Very accurate and functions flawlessly with my reloads.
  15. I have used this powder for several years. It burns clean and is economical. I had four 8 pounders but am about out. Does anyone know of a source for this powder?
  16. I purchased an Essential Arms lower for a new 20" gun I just built. Very pleased, all the holes are correct and everything functions fine.
  17. I have two AR's. One has a JARD trigger and the other a JP. I cannot decide which I like the best. The JARD may be a little lighter but the JP seems to have a crisper break. What do you guys think about how the two compare?
  18. Which Model number is that Leupold?

    Buis

I am one of those who feels "if something can go wrong, it will happen to me"! My CAR has an Aimpoint Comp ML2, which I really like and it is very dependable. But I got to thinking, "what if it decides to go out during a match". Just received a YHM Front BUIS and a MI Rear BUIS and installed them. PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!! They fold down out of the way when not in use. In a pinch, it only takes a second to flip them up and they line up perfectly through the lower half of my ML2. Now, off to the range to sight in the rifle with the BUIS.
  20. What type of local stores have Delrin rods? I am having trouble finding them. Thanks for your help.
  21. Where can I order the Enidine and the MGI mentioned in this topic?
  22. This is a carryover from a post on another site. A gunsmith friend of mine suggested I remove the weights from my buffer. I tried it and got light primer strikes. Then, I put one weight in and a piece of dowel rod the length of the other two weights. Damn, the rifle feels good. Less bump as the bolt closes and absolutely no misfires. I know this feeling is very subjective but it seems to make a difference. I think the weights are in there for full auto fire and all the weights are not necessary for semi auto fire. I left a small amount of sliding room since I think you get a "dead blow" effect as the weights shift forward when the bolt stops. What do you think?
  23. I just have to give an "attaboy" to Benny. Last year, he built me a Limited 40. STI frame and Caspian slide with Schueman barrel. I just passed 20,000 rounds in this gun and IT HAS NOT MALFUNCTIONED A SINGLE TIME!!! I am meticulous about my reloads but every IPSC gun I have ever owned burped once in awhile. I also keep the gun and mags cleaned and well lubed. In addition, I have had a couple of questions and Benny has patiently take the time to talk with me on the phone and answer everything I wanted to know. In this day and age, quality and good customer service are very difficult to find. Benny Hill provides both!
  24. I am using 26.5 grains of 2230C with 55 grain "pulled" military bullets. I mainly shoot 3-Gun and accuracy is very acceptable. These bullets are cheap!!! I get them from Pat's Reloading.
  25. Finally got to chrono a new load yesterday. 45 ACP mixed cases, 3.9 gr. Clays, Berry's 230 gr. plated RN, 1.250 OAL. A 5" 1911 with a new Kart barrel. 20 shots with an average of 730fps and ES of 23. I always believed 200 gr. LSWC's were the way to go. However, this load is very accurate and feels like a powder puff in the full sized 1911.
