Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I was fortunate enough to locate one of these beauties at my LGS approx. 2 months ago. After searching the internet feverishly, I was greatly surprised to find that this shop not only had one, but three in stock. Two of them being .45, and the oter being 9mm. After much research, I decided to take the leap and make the $747 OTD purchase. Aside from only coming with one magazine (Para P-14), I was greatly impressed. Not only with the finish, but with how smooth it felt. On my first range experience with this gem, I put 500 rounds down range. I didn't experience any FTF or FTEs. However, after purchasing 5 additional mags at $25 each, I decided to take it thourg its paces at a local USPSA practice match. During this run, I had FTF issues on 3 of the 6 mags. One of the mags shot the follower out of the top of the mag, and exposed two coils. After taking all of the magazines apart, and chalking the issues up to new magazine gremlins, I attended a second match the following week. On this go-round, I only experienced 1 FTF on 1 mag. Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase. It shot sub 1" groups at 25 feet, with ease! Although I agree that this double stack is no STI or SV, I definitely feel that it was a wise purchase. In addition to this, I searched for 6 months trying to find this gun's little brother, the 1911 A1 FS Tactical, with VZ grips, mag well, adjustable rear, fiber optic front, and full dust cover. I was finally able to locate one on uesday of this week, and quickly made the purchase. It's scheduled to arrive tomorrow at my LGS. A full review will follow, once it's put through its paces. I hope this was helpful! Stay Safe!!
  2. Thanks, Kevin. That's where I've been shooting at. I look forward to meeting more of the guys at the matches.
  3. Thanks Paul! I heard that you've been out of town. I've been to the past two Monday Night Shoots. Both weeks, my scores have been decent, but my times have been terrible. I attribute this to having magazine issues. On my double stack mags, one of the springs and follower came out of the top of the mag on a reload. I've been looking at replacing the followers, pads, and springs but I'm having a hard time spending $200-300 on new parts. I'll keep working with them. I'll see you Monday.
  4. Hello everyone! I'm recently getting back into USPSA Matches, after almost a two year break. Having a little one, and being married, has left little spare time. When I "competed" before, I only shot local matches. I am looking forward to becoming an active member of not only the USPSA Community, but to this Forum as well. I'm currently shooting in the Limited Division (Maj PF), and in single stack (Maj PF). Both weapons I am using are Rock Island Armory (double stack and single stack 1911s). I look forward to getting tips and advice from the wealth of knowledge on this site. Stay Safe!
