  1. Definitely not. Lots of options. I have a Double Alpha Race Master. You have to order it with the SP-01 block and then file it just a bit to make it lock on the trigger guard.
  2. I don't have a Shadow but I weighed my P-09 slide. Has factory night sights. Slide was 17.8oz/506 grams or 12.9oz/365 grams without the barrel and guide rod/recoil spring. Somebody else might be able to provide the weight for a Shadow slide.
  3. You mentioned the P-09, I think it'd make a better limited gun.
  4. I have only ever loaded with CCI primers and used a 13lb mainspring in my P-09 with the CGW extended firing pin and have not had any light strikes. But, I've only shot 100 or so of my loads since switching to that combo. Probably 400 or so factory with no problems.

    CGW Joe Tool

One can change out hammer springs with no tools besides something to push out the retaining pin once the plug is depressed. I see no reason for a special tool. Takes maybe 30 seconds.
  6. Should. I think I was using 4.6 grains Titegroup with a coated 180 bullet loaded at 1.135".
  7. I have the CZC large magwell and CZC basepads. I had to do some filing on the basepads to get them to seat properly each time. I used Grams springs and followers. I can load them to 21 but I don't have the confidence that I'm going to seat them hard enough during a match as it takes quite a good whack when seating them loaded to 21 on a closed slide. I removed the waffling on mine and did it with a file to get it roughed in and then emery cloth on a hard rubber pad to smooth it out. Finished with finer grits of sandpaper until I was satisfied with it. I use the thin grips with grip tape on them and then grip tape on the front and back straps.
  8. Give David at CGW a call or email him. He's always been helpful and I'm sure he'll know how to resolve.
  9. I would contact the Cerakote applicator for details on how they want it stripped. When I sent off my Tactical Sport I stripped it all the way down, sights and everything. You shouldn't need to mask anything at all. They should media blast it and then if there's anything that shouldn't be coated mask it off.
  10. I've just used 180 grain FPs in mine. But, one 180 grain FP from one manufacturer may not feed as well as one from another. I'd certainly test some before buying a ton of bullets.
  11. Sure, mags are expensive at $43 each, but compared to $25 mags they're just $18 more. Times four mags that's $72 extra and that's not much considering the overall expense of shooting and practicing USPSA and how cheap the gun itself is. I shoot limited, but I might have to shoot some production just so I can run my P-09.
  12. I can't help with input on the other models, but P-07s only take P-07 mags.

    P-09 trigger ?

It won't be like a tuned 1911 trigger, but you can get the triggers very nice. I used CGW parts in mine and did some polishing in the areas David suggests as well as reducing the tension of the trigger bar spring. I'm very pleased with it.
  14. The slide rubs the polymer frame on my P-07. No issues from it. I carry it very frequently. My P-09 does the same thing.

    Favorite Lube

I'm on the fence about lubes. Was a CLP guy. Then started using FrogLube. Love it for the anti corrosion properties. I found that when I returned to a gun I hadn't shot in several months that the FrogLube was gummy. I'd do the heat and treat and then brush on a very small amount. Never had any failures with it. I've switched to Mobil1 recently for lube but still like to heat and treat with FrogLube and then wipe it all off to help prevent rust and corrosion.
  16. CZC basepads, Grams springs and followers, and DAA Racemaster is my setup.
  17. I would, and did, go with 9mm for my P-09 and P-07 though mine are honestly for defensive purposes. Might occasionally shoot production or 3 gun with the P-09 but I usually shoot my Tac Sport in limited. Only thing you'd miss with 9mm would be able to shoot major in limited. 9mm would be great for production or 3 gun. Side note... Has anyone tried a .40 to 9mm barrel swap on a P-09 or P-07? Are the outside diameters of the barrels the same? I looked and the extractors and ejectors are the same part regardless of caliber.
  18. You mean a load that is fine at 1.2" can be bad at 1.13"ish lengths? The longer OAL you mentioned should mean lower velocity and pressure.
  19. I load mine to 1.135 due to the magazines.
  20. I've used Bear Creek 180 grain bullets and like them.
  21. The .40 S&W barrels have a 1 in 16" twist while the 9mm barrels have a 1 in 9.8" twist. I haven't tried any 147 grain bullets but the barrel twist is the same as other CZ 9mm pistols so they should work similarly. The CZUB site with the specs isn't currently loading but I viewed a cached version to get the data. http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/79-pistols-cz/PST/CZ_P-09.aspx
  22. I use Grams springs and followers with CZC basepads. I squeezed the mag bodies slightly in a vice to make them just a tiny bit wider to get 21 rounds in. Can't squeeze them too much or they won't slide in well. I can get 21 rounds in them though they take a bit more force to seat. I run 20 in them usually because I'm afraid I won't seat them hard enough during a reload.
  23. I have a gun room inside the house. Has my safe, bench and all my gun stuff in it. So much stuff there's no way not to have a dedicated room for it.

    Trigger won't reset

Did the trigger return spring break?
  25. Mine was in there incredibly tight. I used a chisel I had modified by grinding it to the shape of a dovetail and flattened the point. Took a lot of hammering to get it out.
