Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. I ran a match yesterday and had no (!) issues with the 11" spring cycling low velocity ammo. ~100 rounds of Remington Gun Club Target loads 1145 fps 4 rounds Fiocchi 1oz slug at 1300fps I've heard multiple mentions of a new hammer design. I will call and see if I can get one *before* my hammer breaks in a match. No issues with the bolt handle as expected.
  2. Thanks for the info Langenator. I received the replacement parts today and it looks like they sent me the long spring. I will give a call on Monday to see about getting the 8" spring. Old parts are on top, new on the bottom.
  3. Sounds promising. Were the Remington 1145 or 1300? Were the Rio 1150, 1250, or 1280? In looking back through this mega thread I couldn't determine which recoil spring you are running. I realize my mileage may vary, but I am planning to order a variety of rounds to test with for when the new parts arrive. Thanks for the info.
  4. I wonder if it is just Winchester bulk that it doesn't like, or any 1145 that it doesn't like? I would be curious to know if something like Remington Gun Club 1145fps would cycle through it. I've not had great success with Winchester bulk, even in pump guns. I know where the lighter recoil spring idea came from, as do some of the other early adopters. I spoke with cz-usa support yesterday and they are sending me out a new re-designed action bar and recoil spring. I am unsure what recoil spring they are sending, but I asked to be able to run the lightest loads possible. Testing to ensue. Hopefully this will be the end of breakage for this gun. It's great when it works, but confidence is waning as to the viability of this platform standing up to hard use.
  5. For an inexpensive alternative I did close to this. Though I left the hammer stock and only used the trigger spring out of the JP Yellow kit. 4 pounds, and I have not had any light strikes/fail to fire with bulk ammo.
  6. I put another 125 rounds on the gun today, so 375 total on the bolt handle. No issues. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the action bar.
  7. I'm curious if anyone has investigated lightening the trigger pull? To be clear, I am not looking for some super light glass break precision setup. However my current trigger pull is 9 (!) pounds. I was testing my friends 930spx and it is consistently 3.25 pounds. I would be okay with something in between these two extremes.
  8. I put another 150 rounds on the bolt handle yesterday during a match, so I have ~250 rounds on it total. Zero issues. I had a couple failure to extract with some low recoil slug rounds, and the extended bolt handle was awesome for working through the issue on the clock. I'm not affiliated with hlpressley in any way other than being a satisfied customer.
  9. Its Duracoat. Its actually gold but the lousy lighting and cell phone pic makes it appear more bronze. I've painted the trigger as well. My new bolt handle is next. :-) I'll post up some better pics in the next week or so.
  10. Received and installed mine on friday. A very nicely made piece. All edges are chamfered and the hand slides easily around the handle, but not off it. Testing against my buddies knurled gg&g on his 930 I prefer this smooth design (personal preference). I drive a keyboard all day so I have soft hands. A nice feature is that it does not require the brute force vice grip removal method of the stock piece. It still snaps in, and requires some force to remove but isn't as ridiculous. I highly doubt its going to pop out on its own. Testing to ensue the week of Thanksgiving. And because everyone likes (lousy cell phone) pics...
  11. Haha. That sure is a pistol grip. For some reason I was thinking you meant pistol grip stock. http://www.atigunstocks.com/cz-tactical-stocks/535-cz-712-12-ga-talon-tactical-six-position-adjustable-shotgun-stock-with-scorpion-recoil-system.html Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using Tapatalk HD
  12. Oh and just in case anyone was wondering, ATI finally shipped my pistol grip after a month and a half. Should be here this week, will post pictures. I'm interested in your thoughts once you get it. I liked it as I felt like I was running a carbine more than a shotgun. I could really get squared up behind the shotgun. Ultimately I ended up with the standard akita stock though, as the pistol grip would get in the way of 'load two' for me. I really like the adjustability of the akita stock, as well as the recoil pad. 250-300 rounds in a match and no bruising or soreness. In other news I ordered some o-rings in an attempt to fined a source other than cz-usa. Got a few different sizes and materials. Testing to ensue...
  13. Admittedly this is pretty unscientific, but it's the tools I had available. Scale and calipers (I think bore gauge is correct tool for this?). I averaged the caliper readings as I took readings at multiple places in an attempt to get some semblance of accuracy. O.D. of my mag tube 1.004" Old piston 1.51oz 1.005 ID at the bottom of the piston "lip" 1.024 ID where it opens up after the bottom lip New piston 1.55oz 1.005 ID at the bottom of the piston "lip" 1.027 ID where it opens up after the bottom lip So the new piston is 3 thousandths bigger. Honestly I find it slides more smoothly with less resistance on the mag tube. There is no slop for the fit up for mine. The other pictures I've included are regarding trying to diagnose my fail to eject/short stroking issue. When I pulled the gun apart the piston was sitting cocked. It appears it was not fully seating against the o-ring. The other picture shows the build up of junk where the piston should be fully seated. My best guess is that not getting a good seal, gas was blowing out of this area instead of pushing against the piston, and this was causing my issue. Since my o-ring is beat, and I have yet to be able to get the correct one from CZ (3 attempts), I'm on a mission to try and source replacements and replace each time I clean cleaned whether needed or not. Seems like cheap insurance. If anyone knows what o-ring material I should be looking at (viton, buna, etc.) please let me know.
  14. I ran a small local match match yesterday. 93 rounds Federal Field and Target (Walmart bulk pack), 3 DRAM, 1 1/8oz shot, #7.5, 1200fps 10 rounds Fiocchi LE slug, 7/8oz, low recoil, 1300fps 2 rounds Fiocchi LE 00 Buckshot, 9 pellets, 1150 fps I had issues with 6 - 10 rounds of birdshot short stroking. The round would get out of the chamber okay, but hang up on ejection (basically stovepipe). So that kinda sucked. I haven't pulled the gun apart yet but I have a few hypothesis. I had to reuse the o-ring since CZ sent me was the wrong one with the piston. I think there may be a gas leak as my o-ring is pretty trashed. Not running the gun wet enough. I used minimal lube when I re-assembled with new piston. Perhaps the piston needs additional break in We'll see when I take it apart what I can determine. And I'll also measure out some parts.
