You are over simplifying a complex task. All of the clubs that host USPSA matches have other activities going on. USPSA does not dictate to the club when they can host a match. I also had the sticking primer issue. The cause was a Lee die that the decap pin did not stick out enough to consistently clear the primer from the pocket. Resetting the pin to hit the primer sooner cured my issue. This was on .45 acp so I did not have pierced primers. YMMV. Paul Beck

Saw the doc Friday. Got the second cortisone shot. Not much relief from this one. Called a PT friend and discussed with her. She said that her experience with it is the the shots work maybe 50-60 % and the rest get the cut. In her view no downside to the surgery so while I will be trying the stretches and massage I anticipate getting cut sometime after March 15. Paul

After having carpal tunnel surgery on both hands I now have "trigger thumb" on the right hand. So far cortisone shots not doing much. Have you had the surgery and what was the long term outcome? I've been told to expect to lose some grip strength and dexterity. Thanks Paul

I try to start and end each practice with group shooting, I begin at 7 yds with slowfire free style, then SHO and finish with WHO. Goal is to be able to shoot the same points WHO as freestyle. Move back and keep the same goal. I can shoot the same points WHO with my revolver as free style, just slower. If you have a revolver use it to dryfire weakhand. Watch the sight and focus on controlling the movement as you squeeze the trigger. Paul

Search for an article on the 788 trigger mod. In short, trigger is heavy because same spring pushes both trigger return and sear. Drill and tap two places, cut sear spring down to fit and and add new trigger return spring. My trigger is under a pound and the rifle will do dime size three shot groups @ 100 yds, That is bedded and handloads. Ditto on not running super hot loads. Bolt handle attachment is soldered not welded and can be broken due to heavy loads causing excess case expansion and hard extraction. Old Remington barrels normally shot as well as anyone else's light sporter barrel. They can be beaten by going heavier. Paul First rifle was a 788 in .243. Still have it, bought in '74 at the local Ace hardware for less than $75 according to Dad. Helped that Mom worked for the Owner and got a discount.

I bet every shooter has done this at least once. There is video of a former USPSA Pres at a three gun event that did not load his shotgun speedloaders. Bad to be a sponsored GM and do it. I won't admit how many times I have done this. It is easy to get stuck being the RO and forget until it's your turn to shoot. Paul

Are any of you having size issues? I tried cutting .38 spl down and ended up having to ream the inside to be able to seat and not have a bulge that would keep the round from entering the chamber. Using 160 gr. .358 lrn from SNS. Paul

I have a Commander in this finish. The baseplate popped off the magazine when I dropped it on concrete during a match. I can get the plate welded back on but I don't know where to go to refinish the mag. Anyone know of a source? Thanks Paul Beck

Several posts have mentioned not allowing scoring behind the shooter as a way to avoid cheating for or against a shooter. Some of the Level 2 and Level 3 matches in the Southeast have made it standard practice to score behind the shooter where possible to reduce the amount of time between shooters and thus allow more shooters to compete. The offer is made to the whole squad to designate someone to accompany the scorekeeper to verify the calls before the first shooter hears "Make Ready". The stage staff does all pasting and resetting. The only person downrange other than staff is the shooter and the designated score checker if requested. At Area 6 we were turning shooters is under 3 1/2 minutes on stage 11. Think of the increase in shooters at a match if we reduce from 5 minutes per shooter to 3 minutes. Please don't make a bunch of knee-jerk reactions to one individual's actions. If you love Sigs that much go for it. But don't expect the reliability that comes from the experience that thousands of guns in shooter's hands for the past 15-20 years gives. Don't expect to keep up with the S_I guns that hold 28-30 rounds in a big stick. If playing with a Sig is more important than how you place, go for it. Paul

Area 6 started out with 13 shooters for Revolver. Numbers started dropping, I switched to Limited after two local matches with my six shot against an eight shot. No way to win given the stages that were at these matches. Looked at the stages for Area 6 as posted and decided not to beat my head against that particular wall. Area 6 ended with less than the requirement for recognition. I have also not registered for the other State/Sectional matches that I shoot in Rev. I will shoot Limited until/if I buy an eight shot gun. Don't like loosing to skill, hate loosing to equipment and stage design. Paul Beck

I went sub minor last year. Several others came close. Dave lost the SS match due to going minor. USPSA seems to use the CED chrono. I got coached that the model used tends to average 40 fps slower than most others. I now average the five slowest rounds and subtract 40 fps. If that reduced pf makes 168-170 I'm happy. So far so good. Paul

Having and executing a bad plan is much better than not having a plan at all. Never go to the starting position if you are not sure of what your plan is and how to execute it. Ask to let someone else go and move down the shooting order. Paul

Walk the stage and find ALL the targets. Work out how you will shoot each array(these 4 first going right to left, then move to the second array and start with the left and shoot to the right, do a reload moving to the third array, etc) That is the first and most important thing. Next walk your plan multiple times. Then stand and visualize it with your eyes closed. Do this at least five times before you shoot. What you are striving for is to arrive at a shooting position with the gun up and aligned with the first target, and then leaving for the next spot and knowing where it is and what the array looks like. When you can do this, you can snatch the pebble from my hand grasshopper. Paul

Lack of variety in stage design (also called "nothing but 4 target arrays") is pretty common. I just reviewed the last three months video of matches I shot. Better than 75% of the stages were 7 or 8 rd arrays. If I did not design it it had 2 targets and 4 steel, 3 targets and 1 or 2 steel, or 4 targets. What I remember from last year at Pasa Park is 7 shots minimum for each array. The stages will be built around the single stack 8 rd. capacity. Given more than twice as many shooting the Single Stack Classic as the Revolver Nationals who will they design it for? I don't fault the match for catering to the bottom feeders, but don't put too much on this one match. Go look at the stages at the Area and Sectional matches from last year. If you don't think 8 shots will be a decisive advantage I have a bridge for sale. Paul Beck

Run there, plant, shoot 4 targets, run over there, plant, shoot 4 targets, repeat. Every stage but the classifier. Think about the last month's matches. How many did anything but 4 target arrays? 8 shots and move to the next 8 shot position. Where did the variety go? Paul
