Ask who reloads among the people you shoot with. You will find someone who has a LCT. Try it out for yourself. They probably have more than one press, ask to try them all. See what works for you. Paul Beck

Great stages. Fun and challenging to shoot. Everyone remembers a great stage versus having three standards in a match. If you have gadgets, gimmicks, or any prop at all make sure it's reliable. Test it in two matches before you make it part of a Level II or III. No fun to have a great stage that you have to drop because something failed. Stages should be doable by D class beginners. Test the stages with some U/D shooters. No fun to have them run out of ammo on a stage with lots of long distance steel,. Decorate the stages. Logos or cartoon charactors on walls, etc. Enough staff that shooters do not past or reset anything. You gain by not having reshoots for prop failure and you get a faster squad clearance time on each stage. Stages that allow scoring while the shooter is still firing help with faster clearance time as well. I use 4 dedicated people per stage. If a stage is lots of steel plan to change out everyone but the scorer and the CRO at lunch. Break the reset job down to "You take the first array of 4 to paste and then move to the third array" other guy "You get the second array and then go back and have the next shooter standing at the start position" CRO pastes the last array and scorer heads back to confirm score with the shooter. Prizes: Cash for place and random draw for all donated prizes. A GM sponsored shooter is going to sell whatever they win versus giving a gun to Joe Average who will talk about it for years. Not in favor of a prize table as it takes so long for some people to decide. If the match is multi-day then either draw ahead of time and pass out at registration or do on the last day and budget to ship prizes. Often other shooters will take for their buddies and deliver. Just get names and notify the winners. Nice to have a separate drawing for just the staff. Shirts: Different color for staff and shooters. Factor cost in to shooters fee. If the logo/design is too loud and wild I won't wear anywhere but a match versus out in public. Just some random thoughts. Paul Beck

Can you post a pic of a jam? I got the most improvement from a Coke can split and clamped to the inside of the case feeder bowl to kick any cases not fully down in the slot in the wheel off. I use a small piece of cardboard on the bottom of the bowl opening to narrow the opening so that cases can't fall until they are over the funnel. I used to shoot revo at least half of the year. Then the eight shot guns made any six shot gun not competitive and I stopped. Still shoot three USPSA matches most months. Does anyone have numbers on attendance at level ones for revo division? I know several who shot in the GA/SC area stopped after the rule change. Did we really pick up anyone who did not already shoot USPSA because of allowing the eight shot gun? Paul Beck A49023, CRO

I run a .45. Since it uses large primers I keep up with purchases of primers and when I need more I know I have put 5000 rds downrange. Its not exact but close enough. Paul

I will not shoot it again until it moves from Mothers Day and hopefully away from the SSC. I shot it in '13 and did not like the stages for a Level 2or 3 match. Way too short, I don't drive 16 hours for 24 rds max. per stage. Call the Memphis match the Revo Nat and I will be back. Paul Beck

Has anyone tried this? When I bought a P14 a buddy gave me a P14 mag that he had been using in his P16 to load the barney round. CDNN has P14 mags for $29. If you have not tried it yourself please don't post telling me what you think. I want to hear from someone or someones who have done it and can say firsthand that it works or that it doesn't. Three of the four local matches I attend in NC already have a cap on shooter numbers. NC needs more ranges before it needs more shooters. The next time you can't get in a "good" section or area match because it fills in less than an hour don't whine about more shooters. If the local ranges are willing to host two matches a month and not allow duplicate entries we could handle twice the shooters. Or go double the number of ranges. Do that before "growing the sport". Most of the previous SC Sectionals were at MCRC. Run by Linda Chico and a variety of MDs. Contact her or Jack Suber for direct questions on how they select workers. I have been a RO/CRO at this match since 2003. Most of those years I worked with the same 4 or 5 people and we developed habits that got the job done quickly and with no issues. The WSB is read, then I state that I have enough help to do scoring and pasting and that the shooters will not go downrange. We usually get applause at that point. If possible the scorekeeper/Nook holder starts scoring targets as the shooter advances thru the stage. If we are doing this I state so upfront and ask that the shooter designate someone to follow the scorekeeper to check for the shooter. Unless there is a question about a target it gets pasted right after the scorekeeper calls it and moves on. We divide up the stage in sections with a specific worker responsible for pasting that part. At "ULSC" scoring stops and the time is entered. I start calling targets to the scorekeeper. When scoring is complete the scorekeeper heads uprange and gets the paper copy done and the rest of us finish pasting. While scoring is going on the next shooter is the only one allowed in the shooting area. As soon as the last worker goes past me I can call "Make ready". I spend enough time waiting at matches and don't enjoy it so I try to minimize the wait for the other shooters at the L2 and L3 matches that I work. Not allowing shooters downrange means no reshoots due to targets pasted before scoring, or no shoots getting covered up by a buddy, or REM because someone did not reset a mover the right way. RM/MDs love stages with no problems. Most shooters enjoy the sit and watch and talk time. Just my experiences, YMMV Paul Beck A49023

For D-Striker look at the Blue Bullets SC Sectional in the match announcement forum. For HV Smith my group of 4 works together and lets the MD know we want to work together. We design and staff a stage. One CRO, 2-3 RO, and usually one club member working each stage. Since we work together frequently we know how to divide up the stage into "We will start scoring before the shooter finishes. The same person is responsible for the same targets each time. Most stages we can run a shooter every 3 1/2 minutes.

Come shoot the SC Sectional and see how it works. The last few years(4 or 5) this match has staffed each stage so that the shooters do not paste or reset anything. No reshoots from targets pasted before scoring, very few from REM because the movers get reset the same way by the same person all day. Paul Beck

SC Sectional hands out checks for order of finish and random draw for donated or purchased stuff. Great way to go if you can afford to pay back most of the entry fee instead of the club getting a windfall off of the volunteer's work.
