Infinity with Noblex Red dot is unshootable.
glockman75 replied to glockman75's topic in Open Pistols
Update: The guns are going back to the factory (at my expense). SV is refunding and replacing the mounts and refunding for the Noblex NV G (POS) dots. I have decided to stick with Leupold DPP 3.5 dots. I've been running them in Open, PCC, Carry optics for years with very few failures. I already have about 5 of them. Just to make sure everyone understands. I'm completely happy with SV Infinity's fit, finish, workmanship, etc. They are incredible. It took longer than was originally planned but so did my pool, garage, lanai etc. This year everything took longer than was planned. The guns are absolutely amazing and I'm excited about shooting them and going to .38 from 9 Major. It's just the dots that are no good what so ever. I mean there is no chance that you could shoot these fast and accurately. The curved glass in the window of the Noblex NV G distorts the view. It makes the target appear smaller and is not suitable for high speed shooting of any kind. IF YOU HAVE A NOBLEX NV G ON ORDER CANCEL IT! Live and learn! Happy shooting everyone! Sincerely, Ian M. -

Yes. I was told 7ish months when I ordered it but it took a year. -

I’m a GM. Not a national contender but I’m no noobie. This sight is horrible . It distorts the field of view making things seem smaller. It’s the opposite of magnification. Could the glass be installed incorrectly? Manufacturing defect or design defect? Is this parallax? It has massive parallax? It’s really bad. What the hell is wrong with this dot? I’ll be calling SV in the morning. I’ve never seen anything like this. -
I just received brand new twin Infinity IMM open guns (after waiting a year) with Noblex / Doctor NV G Red dots and the dots are unshootable! They suggested these sights and I decided to try them. Oops. WTF? The dots have curved glass that distorts the field of view so bad it’s actually makes the target look 3/4 smaller! What a piece of junk! It’s like looking down a telescope backwards! Did no one ever look at these? Am I missing something? Holy hell.

Batteries are really important! Only use Duracell. Check the voltage with a multimeter. The other batteries are thinner and don’t make a good Contact and you will loose your dot! Say no to Energizer etc. Also I remove my battery every so often and clean the contacts with an alcohol lens wipe to remove oil and corrosion. This is very important. Gotta have the correct thickness from the battery “Duracell”, gotta be clean to allow correct voltage to illuminate the dot, got to have correct voltage to begin with.

I have shot the same gun with the new comp. It’s very close. I think the dot may track better with the new comp (straight up and down) the old school comp may be a bit flatter (however the dot wiggles a bit). So ... it’s a trade off. I wanted the flattest possible so Shay fixed me up with the old school. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not sure about that. I haven’t personally experienced the more gas the better the dot movement. I prefer a lighter softer load. In my testing the lighter the recoil the better I can muscle the gun. Example: I love running Winchester white box through the gun. Soo soft. If I were going out of town to shoot an area match I would be sure I’m chronoing at 170 PF just for insurance but I’d rather be shooting 165.5 for feel. Im sure some guns are different. I learned that the team guys are pushing the limits of everything. They test the guns looking for any mechanical advantage. They cut recoil and main springs until the point of failure then try again. I learned that it feels softer the lighter the recoil spring and the less coils it has, until it no longer functions. I’m using a 7 lbs variable with 3 coils cut and 3 aluminum shock buffs (since I have a stroked gun) thanks to their testing. It shoots great. Also switched from WAC to AA7 per their input. It was a good year! Current 9mm load is this: 124 JHP 9.7 AA7 1.165 CCI SPP Akai wait time depends on what they’ve got in the oven so to speak. I think normal build time is 8 months, if they’ve got something in the hopper maybe 4-6 months. I think it took 8 months for my twins order but they were 100% custom. I’m not sure what kind of back log they have. They have some sweet enhancements that make their guns return fast and shoot flat. I whole heartedly recommend them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Triple Bill Drill ish. Didn’t shoot all alphas. But it was a lot of fun!

.40 no it’s 9mm major. 124 AA7 PF 168.5 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I think the ultimate build is: 4.5” slide, 5” barrel, stroked, long heavy dust cover, tungsten sleeved barrel (currently have regular bull barrel but next Gun will be tungsten sleeved), Steel old school comp (next one will be titanium old school comp), thumb rest (type personal pref, I like Nitro fin), safeties (personal pref, I like double taps). Dot: Leupold DPP Grip: PT Evo Magwell: Dawson Ice Aluminum Trigger: (Personal pref) Infinity Flat short for me. Recoil spring: 7lbs Wolff variable cut 3 coils. Shock buff: (3) Aluminum for stroked gun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got the twins in March. I’ve had a great year shooting these blasters. I want everyone to know about these guns. They rock! I wish the folks at Akai the best and hope to promote a great product supported by good people. I finished 16th in Open at Optics Nationals this year. Been shooting open for 2 years. I shot in their contingency program and won a bunch of stuff and was united with other shooters across the country. It was fun being part of something. Also met all of their team shooters and learned a lot about tuning the guns, powder selection, bullet choices, springs etc. Thanks guys! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think your 1:00 tracking is in the thumb-rest / grip combo. I test things and sometimes I try shooting with my hands doing a push pull and the dot seems to track more straight up and down. I also do not think it matters. You need to see where it lifted to call the shot and watch it settle back who cares if it’s at 11:00 - 1:00? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have shot exactly what you are describing. These are all Akai. We tested these at Area 4 The two in the left are tungsten sleeved .38 the far right is a bull barrel 9mm. I would describe the tungsten sleeved .38’s as slightly less flip and softer. That’s partly due to the caliber and partly due to the extra weight. Bottom line tungsten sleeve vs bull barrel: The tungsten sleeve adds weight that feels good and balanced . It’s going to absorb a little more energy (flip) than a lighter bull barrel. Also the slide is thinner (it’s opened up in front) in order to get the thicker tungsten sleeve to fit. So you have a thinner, lighter slide plus a heavier barrel. Both will help reduce the recoil and flip. Note: I went with the less expensive bull barrel due to cost and after shooting the tungsten sleeved .38’s I decided that I would stick with what I got. I love my Akai’s (4 so far!) and have done well with the contingency program this year! Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hard as hell just like Limited, SS and Production. The less it moves the faster you can shoot it. Enjoy the dot! It gives you so much more information than iron sights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
