  1. Arisaka handstop I snagged off Amazon is what I’ve been using since April. I use it on the side of my handguard as a reference point to put between my index and ring finger, and my index finger is pointing at the targets I’m shooting with thumb over the top if that gives you an idea of orientation.
  2. I regretted not being able to go, and now more so. must hit next year
  3. Nope...have run one in an 18" rifle gas, 16" mid gas, and violent little 13.5" with carbine gas.
  4. I have multiple RCA lightweight and titanium carriers and they work without issue while retaining that function. I've been using them since 2013 and will be using them next year as well.
  5. Save up a few more pennies, pick up the PST Gen II 1-6 scope from Vortex.....you can probably find a 10% off code for certain online retailers via Facebook. Add a Warne X-Skel 30mm scope mount and you're set up will allow you to compete with almost any other setup out there.
  6. Is it still planned to take place at the range in Cresson, TX? The match would take my only non match weekend in October, but may be worth the wife yelling at me......I've been yelled at before anyways.
  7. How were the 70 VLD bullets? I'd like to see groups at 200 and 300, then compare the drop at distance to see if there is a noticeable difference
  8. registered via practiscore.....gonna be a blast at the new facility!
  9. That group is about equal with my best groups using 69gr SMK bullets. Shooting dime sized groups is nothing to scoff at and why the Rise Armament barrels rock. You might also try 75gr Hornady, 77gr SMK, and 77gr Nosler Custom Comp bullets too. My Rise barrels (7 of them I think) all love the 77gr Nosler Custom Comp doing between 2500-2600fps depending on barrel length.
  10. I liked the rifle shots from the forward sloping platform on the stage at the clays course last year, shooting through the SUV windows in 2013, and don't remember which match it was, but running through the barn in cowboy town while shooting.
  11. For what you listed..... 3 guns. -AR with 1x optic or variable scope depending on division. I'd use a silencer mount muzzle brake and eventually pick up the silencer for it in case you need it at home in the house some day (hopefully not likely right?). -Glock 17 with 3 holsters, IWB, drop-offset holster, drop-offset holster with light/laser -Benelli M2 with an expandable tube. That should cover you for just about everything you would need.
  12. loading 4-8 shells between 2 shots......no standing reloads. Can be done with a single static steel target.
  13. "Y'all sit down while Grampa Miller tells ya a story about scattergunnin in the old days of making pew!" Kurt, we need to squad up for pandemic again next year so we can discuss the pros and cons of various loading techniques. Over beers of course....or just drink beers. Snippets of Wisdom (or bits is BS if you will): -For loading technique: quads, deuces, dino-loading......it matters a LITTLE, but not as much as making your hits and loading while moving as smoothly and quickly as possible. Someone smoothly and quickly quad loading while moving on a field course will beat out the same performance with twins and weakhand loading....but if not smooth, it won't. I've seen some FAST shotgun loaders (well faster than myself I would guess) get their tails handed to them because they either stood in one spot to reload their tubes, and/or had to make up shots that caused additional reloads to be necessary. -Dino-loading takes practice to master, and practice to maintain. Yes, I do still practice this occasionally, and it does come in handy on occasion for that one slug hit on paper, sliding a heavier round in, or needing that one extra shot. Quad loading take practice to master, but a lot less than weakhand. Dual loading can be picked up with 2 minutes of explanation by anyone willing to pay attention. -If you can quad load.....you can dual load, but not necessarily the other way around. I am a quad loading shooter, but will often grab two from my belt and dual load when only needing that many shells. Yes, a quad loader can drop a deuce on the range when needed. (punny, I know) -If you want to be good at running shotgun stages, shoot with the good shotgunners tearing up those stages. Then pay MORE attention to how they broke the stage down, shot the targets, reloaded while moving into the next position.....and LESS time worrying about which loading method they used. This would comparable to arguing between pistol shooters about how bullets forward or bullets out will make or break a big field course when the reloads should be done while moving from position to position.

  15. The Taccom Double Deuces are my favorite due to their angled pull. For less money and a smoother feeling pull, the sport series caddies are designed with the same angle, but is laser cut (faster than millling) from the same material. I'm using a couple of the 12-up sport series caddies and converted my chest rig over to the 4-up sport series caddies for 20 rds on it. Big benefit of the sport series is the price. You can probably load out your belt for the price of 1-2 caddies from other places.
  16. EXCELLENT match! I didn't shoot as well after day one as I would have liked, but never stopped having fun, and never stopped getting challenged. I typically go through my match itinerary after the year and start highlighted "must attend" matches for next year. Broke the highlighter out this morning and took care of it early!
  17. Like I said....the expense to cut and rethread, then drill and pin/weld probably won't be worth it once you find someone willing to do it for a higher cost. Buying a new 14.5" barrel and having it pinned will probably be cheaper, and will definitely be easier. A quality barrel should replace that one just fine.
  18. Nitride is fairly hard since it is a surface treatment. All the trouble you're looking to go thru trying to cut it and rethread it to save 1-1.5" isn't worth it IMO. I would either leave it 16" or get a new 14.5" pinned barrel to swap on.
  19. If you want to save a little cash, these are 1/3-1/2 the price and have been working really well for me. The draw is smooth like my nylon caddies that are no longer being made, and they retain shells really well. http://www.taccom3g.com/sport-series-8s4q.html Plus "FREEDOM" at checkout gets another 10% off
  20. I always thought those numbers were with test barrels, and thought test barrels were often 22-24" barrels. I could be way off tho. My 55gr .223 is going at or around 2900 fps from my 18" barrel.
  21. That was hilarious, I think that rabbit was part Honey Badger. He was almost part dinner!
  22. I'm not too big to admit that mistake! I did come closer to smoking that rabbit on he range than the actual target though! Luckily I got it nailed down before the big match.
