  1. Waiting on my sponsor to release a few items to build a dedicated TacOps upper. Have the midlength version of this barrel that will be my dedicated TacIrons upper. Will be interesting to see what kind of recoil difference there may be with 16.1 mid gas and 16.5" rifle gas and both being tuned with adjustable gas and Taccom ULW buffer system.
  2. My two arrive next Wednesday. I believe it is correct that the gas block location is .750" It also appears the barrel flares back out to near .750" where it will attach comps/brakes.
  3. Ah.....my iPhone doesn't show location. I wasn't hoping you lived in America instead of Amerika!
  4. Looking forward to this match. Will be looking for round counts, but intend to bring WAY more than needed anyways.
  5. That I don't know. I'm not on the team anymore and try to stay in contact with everyone I can. There is always a chance of scheduling conflicts or something else. I liked the Bunker Hill range, but wish it would have had some longer distance ranges available.
  6. What state do you live in where you have to pin a 16.5" barrel???
  7. I think the first match is April 12th. Unfortunately, it's during the STI Texas MG so I wing be able to make it. Keep an eye on gateway3gun.com and look at the calendar on the right.
  8. Unnamed soon to be released handguard, receiver, and comp. I could tell you, but...... Gen II Syrac block, Rubber City Armory LW BCG, Taccom ULW buffer system. Lightweight TacOps upper.
  9. Not a problem guys.....hope they work well for all of us!
  10. Just an FYI.....palmettostatearmory is running a 20% off sale thru the rest of today on these. Went ahead and ordered two of the 16.5" rifle gas LW barrels to play with since they were 20% off. Sale ends tonight I think tho.
  11. Midwest 3-Gun monthly matches are shot at the same range as the Midwest 3 Gun, CMMG's range. The Gateway matches are now at Bunker Hill, IL where we shot for the Gateway finale last season.
  12. Two different matches. Midwest monthly matches are March 22nd and April 19th
  13. Sucks to hear stuff like that about a match. I love the area, the restaurants, and have free lodging close to the range. I've gotten lucky on the long range stuff each year and shot almost all of it on the first day before any rain/wind/darkness moved in. Two years in a row, I've started on the exact same stage in fact. Was hoping to see all the shooters at Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes.
  14. While I agree with Kurt and Trapr on nearly everything so far......I like shooting out to 400-500 yards with my Aimpoint. It's not easy, but I'm not really having an advantage over someone shooting true irns that may be able to dial a little elevation either. My vision is corrected with contacts and i have an astigmatism in my right eye, which means my Aimpoint dot is NOT a perfect circle either. Many people shoot TacOps due to distant targets being easier, but last time I checked, we are ranked against people in our divisions anyways. I'm planning to shoot TacIrons at most matches this year, possibly including the ProAm where I would be lumped together with all the TacOps people. If i didn't have an affinity for shooting Heavy I would shoot TacIrons at STI Texas Multigun in April and Fallen Brethren in October....and last year there were PLENTY of over 400 yard targets at Fallen Brethren.
  15. arguing with the RO as to if you were 175-179 degrees versus 181 degrees after he has already told you that you are DQ'd from the match is less than ideal. A simple "i'll be fine here right?" or "can I set this down to stand up then clear it?" only takes a second and can avoid a Reese's blizzard for what you feel was stupid
  16. I have the same if issue with my SuperVinci. Let me know if you find a solution. I wouldn't be too interested in a bolt handle or bolt release. But if there is an option for a safety that will extend back into the trigger opening a little, I'd definitely be interested. One thing I don't like about my Super Vinci is the safety location. My trigger finger can disengage the safety with a little bump when starting a stage on the M2. My trigger finger length and my grip on the SuperVinci makes it difficult to quickly disengage the safety and start shooting. I quickly end up with a callous between my knuckles on my trigger finger where it rubs the receiver.
  17. Would a white sheet or piece of canvas draped behind an unpainted (paint black and allow it to become dark grey with hits) work for good target presentation for MGM flashers? Seems you could satisfy the target presentation and laziness about painting targets. I like the idea of all falling steel, but one of my favorite things about traveling all the way to Fallen Brethren is the repetitive longer range rifle. I was hopeful that the 600+ yard target was going to be in play last fall, and disappointed that it wasn't even a bonus target.
  18. Any time I'm going to do something "funky" like Trap's example, or ripping off a gunbelt to clear an obstacle, or anything that I think the RO might not have seen that day, I always try to "ask permission". Some ROs handle the unexpected better than others, and the more they know about what I'm gonna do the less chance there is of getting stopped in the middle of a stage or DQ'd. While it may be annoying to some RO's when I ask "obvious" questions like this.....I usually try to ask as well and think it's a good practice. I do it a lot with 180 questions where I feel its well within 180, but unsure how it would look to an RO who is standing 3' behind me with a timer.
  19. Always looking at and buying steel from them.....never even considered them having tables!
  20. And adding 2-3 more mag pouches and mags to my belt versus just loading the mags up like I do now. Back to the issue of adding gear and restriction that would eliminate my interest in shooting the TI division. I wouldn't mind the addition of a production division if it's supported.....just don't bastardize and ruin TI/Limited unless you just want those shooters to completely roll over to TacOps in order to have a further under-participated TI/Limited division.
  21. I'm feeling industrious this week and wondering if some of you have "official" sized props for loading/dumping tables, the new 3GN barricade for rifle shooting,.... I currently have built a slanted ramp/rooftop prop with 2x4's and a 4'x8' piece of plywood for practicing and it has helped immensely when using it in matches. Since I have my own range at my disposal, I see no reason not to have props I can practice with that I will see in matches. I'd really like to see pics and dimensions of the slanted tables used for the 3GN shootoffs that have the area for long guns and pistols for me to build a couple. Beyond that....like I said, I'm feeling industrious, have gobs of tools at my disposal, and may build a few other things as well.
  22. I shoot tac/limited only for 3 years now with a G34. If you start to "limit" mag capacity in all 3 guns then the shooter will NOT have room on the belt to carry enough mags/shells to complete most of the stages! Your "production" 9mm pistols can hold the same as a 2011.Remember tricked out 9mm 2011's are only 1 of 3 guns. You must master ALL 3 to win.... This is why there doesn't need to be a change. A person shooting a $450 Glock is at no more of a disadvantage than a guy with a 2011. The gear only matters slightly difference, its the shooter running the gun that makes the biggest difference. I would wager you could give a pro a Hi-point and a noob a tricked out 2011 and the pro would still win handily. It just isn't an issue. Gotta agree......I'd leave the division and not shoot it if I had to get special equipment other than my scope off/T1 on to shoot the division. Downloading mags may be what some would argue, but now you're relying on everyone to be honest about 10 vs. 11, or 15 vs 16 in a mag.
  23. just compensating.....I still run my 10rd RCI Xrail tube that is even with my 26" barrel. in most matches where I can move and load, there is plenty of room and I'm fast enough to load while on my way to the next shooting position. With the match saver, I have 12 on/in the gun when fully loaded. I wouldn't DQ the guy if his mag tube scraped the ground if he remained in control of the gun...if it got sideways and made your hole pucker, another story.
  24. No white/black stripes.....we all know that Ref's for "one ball required" sports are blind and expect more from our RO's. I like the RO jersey idea, but I think you could just as easily give them 3 distinct RO t-shirts to wear and the cost would be nearly the same or less unless a Jersey company wanted to curb the costs a little for a mention as a smaller match sponsor. <------hint hint, wink wink jersey companies. As an added bonus, a couple brits would go home with more gun shirts to offend the sheeple.
