  1. By the way I load once fired brass with 237gr WC860 using a 694 gr military These bullets are +\- 3gr. CCI primers. I also have some nickel cases I picked up along the way. I have loaded as low as 190gr of WC860.
  2. WelI have to put in my .02 worth. I,ve had 5 different 50's.a McMillan , 2nd McMillan with magazine. Barret82a1 and a Hesse single THAT I STILL HAVE and shoot. I have the Hesse for 15 years and shot often except my Club just said no more 50's ...?.I've used Bushnell 3200, than switched to a leupold M4 I like it a lot. I reload my own ammo
  3. With an AR15, that's a BIG boom! Well Right after the boom all I saw was a cloud of white smoke hit me In the face. A moment later after the smoke cleared I busted out laughing. I know what you must be thinking now., but I looked at my buddy and he asked( With Horror On This Face)Why I was laughing and I said " I'm laughing because I can see" Sounds stupid but that was the first thought that came into my head. By the way the barrel had no bulge. Everything else was trashed.
  4. What was the cause? Overcharge? No, no double charge....stupidity was theproblem. I ran a round into chamber, got distracted after pulling the trigger. After fixing my buddy's firearm, I went back to mine Pulled back the charging handle saw a empty get ejected. I loaded another on my single shot sled, Chambered another round......pulled the trigger.....boom.TWO BULLETS inside the barrel. ALL MY OWN STUPIDITY? I should have checked but In my hast it ruined the entire upper, scope mount bolt carrier extractor and magazine.
  5. Looks like you can still see the ruptured case in the chamber. I will assume it was a double charge. It even split the chamber that still appears to be locked into the slide. I will try and post my exploded AR 15. This can happen to any of us, and I have been handling firearms for over 50 years. I still blew up a Deltron upper.
  6. I have used 231 in my Smith & Wesson model 52, my Springfield 45 all in a Dillion 550. Works great
  7. The problem is the cylinder heats up & expands. Take a hair dryer and heat up the barrel and cylinder. If the Cylinderhangs up as I expect it will, some of the blogs are correct. Smith cylinder to forcing cone should be about 6 thousands. Think about it, metal expands when heated. Give it a try. 1 thousand is not enough because of expansion. I worked on a bunch of Smith while at the chgo police academy. By the way Smith does not recommend washers, but uses a stretch method.
  8. I have had over 100 revolvers, J frame, K frame, L, and N Frame Smiths and Colt I Frame (Big Grips). I have used Both Packymer and Hogue.... and found that Hogue being softer, almost makes it like the gun is sticking to your hand... unlike the Packymer. The Hogue has an open back strap, the Packymer is bigger... in some cases I think bigger may not be better. In the academy, I always recommended Hogue to most I have had conversations with. Packymer on the N frame that you have, requires a huge hand... Hogue will not.
  9. In theory, your mind cant envision recoil... only with actual recoil can you properly address the problems.... I suggest using ball and dummy either in revolver or auto.
  10. For what its worth, I taught firearms in the Chicago Police Academy and found while teaching, using your weak hand as your strong hand is best and using strong hand merely to pull trigger will result in less disturb accuracy. Theory for strong hand: don't kill the bird by squeezing it so tightly that you kill it, just tight enough so that it doesn't fly away, Exception being 454, 460, 480, 500, etc... Just my personal teacher opinion! Spiro
