  1. I was talking about the contact of the slide stop on the barrel lugs. Use a marker on the lugs and manually cycle the slide several times with the gun completely assembled. You should be able to see where the slide stop contacts each lug. Contact should be roughly even on both sides and should also make contact toward the tip on the vertical portion.
  2. Yes, I hadaccuracy issues with my open gun. I check the barrel lug contact and it was a little uneven, the manufacture put in a new slide stop and that fix the issue. The slide stop was worn.
  3. Interesting. I have not seen this before so its a good thing to be aware of. Was the firing pin protruding past the breach face? Is that what caused the discharge? What brand of firing pin has the square tip?
  4. Getting a non-ramped threaded barrel may be you best option. Check ebay. Have to ask a smith if you can make a C/P cut from a standard ramped frame. Good luck
  5. I've done business with them and they are a good company. I have not used their finish services but I hope this helps.
  6. Talk to Jim at http://www.innovativecustomguns.com/ He did front serration on a 1911 slide for me. He did an outstanding job.
  7. +1 for this. Nothing wrong with the SIg AXG Scorpion. That will get you start in Carry Optics. Shoot some matches with what you have and then you will have a better idea of what upgrade might help.
  8. It depends on your application. 8 rounds provides a very good estimate of the normal distribution for general reloading. May need more for PRS or long range but would have to check the math.
  9. Here are some data points. Staccato C factory slide: 0.135" GGP P320 aftermarket slide: 0.150" Sig P320 X-carry factory slide: 0.160" This doesn't include the plate lips at the base of the cut which is about 0.035" I hope this helps.
  10. Its still early. But it does look good. Seems pretty versatile. I like the fact that it works indoors and outdoors. My chrono wont work indoors without adding lights. Kinda pricey.
  11. Not yet. It’s on my list but been too busy. We are hosting the Colorado State match next week. Should have time mid to late OCT.
  12. I literally was thinking about this yesterday. Seems like no but idk. RM has final word.
  13. Circling back… Shred was right. I missed 8.7.2. I stand corrected. And also relevant to the discussion, per 8.7.4 the stages are considered closed/off limits unless you get pre-approval.
  14. Thanks for the wealth of information! I'm working on becoming an RM and the detailed discussions are really helpful!
  15. According to the rules, yes. It is outside the official match. You would be subject to the Range rules. Other examples of "outside the official match" are designated live fire demo bays not part of the match property (match rules apply when you re-enter), and Load/Unload stations outside the match property.
  16. Interesting discussion. Before the match... I found this 6.5.3 A match, tournament or league will be deemed to have started on the first day that competitors (including those specified above) shoot for score and will be deemed to have ended when the results have been declared final by the Match Director I agree, its when shooters arrive and are on the match berms. They could be on berms outside the match and then they would fall under the range rules. So OP's statement that it happened before the match started is not correct. Shooter was on a match bay. So assuming this was a Level 1 match and as long as the shooter didn't point in a unsafe direction on the berm, I can't point to an "explicit" rule violation.
  17. Great point! "before the match started" So match rules don't even apply. You are just a guest or member on the range. Does that make sense? When does a match officially start? At the shooters meeting? I don't see anything in the rule book but may have missed it.
  18. What if this was a local match and the "Safe Direction" was clearly shown as only the side berm? I would have to issue a DQ then.
  19. I wonder why they excluded local matches. I would have to agree with you since there doesn't seem to a specific rule that would apply for a local match (assuming it was a local match the OP was talking about). Very timely discussion for me since we are getting ready to host a Level II match and are discussing Safety Tables in each berm.
  20. Accept at a Level II and higher match. 2.4 Safety Areas The host organization is responsible for the construction and placement of a sufficient number of Safety Areas for the match. They should be conveniently placed and easily identified with signs. At Level II or higher matches, Safety Areas must include a table with the safe direction and boundaries clearly shown.
  21. The only document that matters is the official WSB! It doesn't matter what a stage description states (even if its wrong, unclear, etc.). The WSB states T1 then T3. That's on the shooters if they didn't follow the WSB.
  22. No competitive advantage whatsoever. Procedural is for not following the order stated in the WSB. I agree the classifier should be updated. There really is no reason to dictate the order of T1 and T3.
  23. I haven’t done this yet but I’m going to try JB Weld mixed with tungsten granules and/or tungsten powder. Bought granules on eBay and powder is available on Amazon (it’s used to balance golf clubs). Who knew! I’ve used JB weld on lots of 2011 grips with great results. I think this will work to add extra weight.
  24. Short answer is to obtain the most efficient draw from wrists below belt. So to achieve the least amount of movement and to make establishing the grip as ergonomic as possible.
  25. I have none. Here are some other options. Again, I have not used them. I'm searching just like you. Let me know what you end up doing. https://ncengravers.squarespace.com/1911-services https://deeprivercustoms.com/gunsmith-services/#sight https://dscgunworks.com/pages/services-rates https://stonebridgegunworks.com/Slide-Milling-Services_c_27.html They don't list 1911s but can't hurt to ask. https://www.dpcustomworksllc.com/optic-cuts They don't list 1911s but can't hurt to ask.
