  3. Good info Doug - thanks. The more I learn about reloading the more I realize I dont know yet! However, for some reason at the grains I was shooting I consistently got better accuracy with W231 which I thought was strange because I've read that Clays was more accurate.
  4. I just did a head to head controlled comparison. Of course, your results may vary. Glock 21 Lone Wolf Barrel 13 lb Recoil Spring Lee Factory Crimp Die 45 ACP Rainier 230 Plated RN Winchester LP Primers 1.260 OAL 730fps (Major Power Factor 167900) Clays 4.0 & Win 231 4.7 (the only difference was the type and amount of powder - both of these amounts gave me the 730fps in prior testing) I alternated 50 rounds in my magazine to do an A/B test. I could detect NO discerable difference between Clays and Winchester regarding recoil or smoke. I've been told that Clays has more of a "push" than W231's "slap". I couldn't feel that at all. From the bench, the W231 consistantly gave me 1.5" groups at 15 yards and Clays 3". When loading, the Clays is a bit harder to measure because of the flakes. The throw handle gets hung up a bit but I double checked with a non-electronic scale and they were dead on @ 4.0 grains. I don't know if I care about how dirty the barrel gets but I DO care how accurate the load is. I'm sticking with good 'ole Winchester 231 (for now). Tim
