  1. Not any more - gone! Hard to find because most of them go into the (higher-dollar) SP01 Shadow Custom 2014s, I think.
  2. This time I'm gonna actually study the mover, do some calcs and figure out the lead - and actually LEAD the target(s)!
  3. And now it's time for someone to pipe up with "but that's a silly rule"...
  4. JAFO makes a lot of sense here. USPSA is a lot about tinkering, and the more you can do, the better. I've spent many hours with my guns and tools, and that's part of the fun. However, as many have pointed out, the bottom line is still practice, skills, and more practice. Just watch somebody cookin' through a stage with their non-tricked carry gun and we know they can shoot. It's not just the gear. We could all probably do better with better equipment, as we progress, but it's still about the skill. But, hey, the gear is part of the fun, so why not?
  5. Huh? Loss of half the A zone "offsets" a slight increase in *relative* bullet diameter? C'mon!
  6. Wow - all this is going to happen from - PO? Can't imagine all this activity, even if several new Divisions are created (or some are collapsed) - nothing like it has happened before in *any* of the shooting sports. It's a nice thought, though.
  7. One guy having a Sig isn't a trend, it's an anecdote. I don't know what the thing is with "plastic" guns. They're not "plastic", of course, any more than the new Sig P320 is "plastic". They're a particular type of gun, and many people do quite well with them, including a whole lot of USPSA competitors and many LE agencies. Glock, M&P, XD, and now Sig. People work on them for the same reason they tinker with cars - because they're guys (and some gals), it improves their function - and it's fun! Not sure where the idea came from that the CZ thing is "dying off", especially if most of the guys you shoot with have CZs. I know several folks who have gotten the $795 version (about the same cost as a stock Sig) and find them to be pretty good shooters, and even better if you do some polishing and change out a couple of springs. (Aren't you a revolver guy? Are you coming over to the Dark Side?)
  8. Okay, but the response above was about IPSC, and the OP was asking about USPSA. There are differences, of course, especially IPSC being much tighter about using OEM equipment, not aftermarket parts. Either way, USPSA doesn't seem to allow SA-only guns in Production. Although the rules don't *say* that explicitly, they're excluded by the Production gun list and the need to start hammer-down, if there's an external hammer (see above posts). It also doesn't specifically mention "striker" guns, which are mostly considered in the rule book as "DA", although as noted the XD seems to be a special case. In the end, it's a non-issue, covered by the rules.
  9. Graham, could you point us to that wording in the current rule book? Thanks! (edited for clarity)
  10. Interesting repetitive PO arguments on this thread (unendingly). Same arguments, stated with ultimate certainty, but still with not hard data, just opinions of a few who want something different to happen. It sounds a lot like the PO proponents keep saying the same arguments and assumptions over and over (especially that USPSA will dwindle and die if this single, equipment-based change isn't made, and real soon), but there doesn't seem to be much of a real, widespread effort to recruit competitors and to demonstrate the viability of a new Division. Is this how Single Stack started, with a lot of negative rhetoric and name-calling of those who disagreed ("haters")? Gary, can you give us some perspective here?
  11. Actually, coaching is allowed at Level 1 matches *when approved by the Range Officer* (8.6.2.1). It's a good idea to ask first.
  12. Thanks for that apt summary, kcobean, and for putting the situation In its proper perspective. Now hopefully we can put this thread to rest (and stop wringing the English language until it's writhing in agony).

    CZ SP01 springs

SP01 Shadow Custom with additional polishing, including FP bearing surfaces. CGW 11.5# mainspring, trigger spring, & FP spring. 6# DA, 2.5# SA, very smooth action. Sets off WSP, Rem 1-1/2, & CCI 500 primers without a problem. 650 loading press.
  14. Shhhh! Don't give them any ideas for yet another division. Water Pistol Division - Water Pistol Optics Division - Production Water Pistol Division - It's too scary to think about!
  15. Yes, nice commercial. We'll just have to wait and see.how it pans out in real life, in the hands of "regular" shooters.
  16. What "factory ammo" is used (or recommended) for a gun has little to do with how the gun actually handles other ammo or with how we shoot. As so many have said, "it's what works in your gun".
  17. I've been loading Bayou 147s and BBI 135s for my CZ 75 SP01. I check my max chamber depth for all bullets. The 147s are at 1.130" (0.015" off lands) and the 135s are at 1.080 (also 0.015" off lands). Both have about the same powder volume available under the bullet at these seating depths. Both load great, both gauge nearly 100% in the Shockbottle gauge from Ben Stoeger's store (if one misses it's either an "off" brand case or I screwed up somehow). Both are very accurate. Using Titegroup, 3.1 gr in 147, 3.2 gr in 135, both 130 PF. I use regular Lee dies and a Dillon taper crimp die, set to just take the flare out of the case.
  18. I don't think you can actually "call someone out" at a sanctioned USPSA match. If there is chronoing, it has to be for everyone. As BeerBaron said above, we should let it go. There are actually a lot of variables that can cause changes in ejection force, distance, and pattern. The gunsmiths and tinkerers have advice on their sites about changing recoil springs to alter the ejection distance. In my Glock it moved in and out, depending on which spring I had in.
  19. Yikes! - Production Limited - Production 10 - Production Optics - Production Comp ... This is a lot like "I want a new Production division for MY favorite equipment". Ain't gonna happen, I would think. There's a place to shoot whatever equipment you have. Go play, and have fun!
  20. The slide lock has always told me it's time to reload. Slide Lock is your friend!
  21. This worked for me also. We have a solution!
  22. It is a big deal because it can become a huge distraction, and because it is wide open to abuse. With video evidence becoming admissible, the number of cameras in use at the range would skyrocket. If there is a disputed call, how do the officials ensure they sequester ALL the evidence before it gets tampered with. Does the competitor's buddy get to decide which video he presents for review? How can the video be reviewed accurately while squinting into a camera viewfinder on a sunny range (or will someone provide a 60" HDTV in a dark room for such review)? And what is the threshold of proof for changing a call? I have had the misfortune of seeing more than a few righteous RO calls get overturned by RM/MDs who were just not willing to get into a confrontation with a competitor, and so bowed to the "shooter gets the benefit of the doubt" argument. This discussion seems to be focused primarily on 180 violations. Instead of video, which presents formidable interpretation and equity issues, how about USPSA investigate the use of the newest inertial and magnetic compass sensor chips that are now ubiquitous in consumer products like smartphones. A small device that mounted to the gun parallel to the bore and communicated with a sensor on each bay could, if correctly calibrated, quickly and unambiguously alarm the moment the 180 was broken. Such a device could be applied easily at registration and as part of a routine equipment check. Surely nobody could object to such an impartial device being installed on their gun - after all, if you have done nothing wrong, you have nothing to hide Please tell us you're kidding. Putting microchips - TRACKING microchips - on our guns? Why don't we just invite Dianne Feinstein to the match?
  23. No, Rosa Parks stood for something that had real meaning. The PO folks seem to just want to keep banging this dead issue into the ground. To use her name for this is just plain disrespectful. Unless, of course, you were trying to make a joke.
  24. Nobody seems to want you to fail. Folks seem to want you to be accurate and truthful in your advertising and match announcements. If you're doing that, fine. I suspect many would like you to be less aggressive regarding those who don't share your affection for "PO" and to be more polite with those who disagree with you. Thanks!
