  1. I've never polished slide rails to make them run smoother, although I have used diamond lapping compound to fit oversized slides function. Forget the stuff in the gun catalog, it's way too course, I used this kit off Amazon. It takes forever, but you won't have to worry about overdoing it.

Hello kneelingatlas could you tell me all the detail of this TS please? I really like it.

What barrel is it? Which comp? Guid Rod spring....

    Thank you VB

This is not my pistol, but I presume they followed the steps outlined below:

What’s the inside of a checkmate slide look like at muzzle ?

is the inside tapered to match the comp taper ? or is it just squared off.

    Squared off

    Thank you Professor Atlas! :D

Though if you're reading this all these years later, I do have one question. What do I use to polish the sides of the CZ Competition hammer? I've noticed the hammer sort of feels a bit tighter for some reason than my CZ OEM hammer.

I suggest sand paper on something flat like a pane of glass. Start with 1000 grit and progress to 2000-2500

I plan on removing the barrel bushing in the next day or two, and seeing if my extra Sebo comp will fit inside or not. I located a new guide rod designed for the TSO but its longer than the factory 95.5mm, and its 112mm. Using my calipers, it will just barely extend past the end of the slide. If it works, you would leave the plastic sleeve for the guide rod in the frame, and just use the longer 112mm guide rod and spring just like the TSO uses already. I outsourced a barrel from Bar-Sto and they will fit the barrel, comp, and slide, plus ream the barrel using my dummy round for $400. Considering all that, $400 isnt a bad price since I had to pay a gunsmith to have my titanium Sebo comp fit to my Czechmate, so that cost me over $400 between the work and the comp itself.

The OD of the bushing (17.3mm)

is larger than the OD of the cone on the comp (16.5mm).

lower lug where guide rod contacts. do not change that.

CM barrel will need to be fitted at rear, where barrel touches breechface. new barrel , material needs to come off there so slide can come forward into lock up.

Here's a video to help with this process:

  7. You should not be assembling the Czechmate with the guide rod resting on the lower lug like you do with your other CZs, there's a hole in the guide rod, compress the spring and put an "L" shaped piece of paperclip in the hole to keep it compressed, with the slide on the gun, pull the slide to the rear and remove the clip.

The strikers are basically 100% cocked, or really close to it now... ...Most of us would say running a SAO gun with out a manual safety would be bad, and is against the rules.

You bring up a really good point. We DQ shooters for holstering a SAO pistol with the safety off, so do we DQ someone shooting a striker fired pistol on which the factory safety features no longer function as designed due to the aftermarket fire control parts they installed?

I'm not intimately familiar with the safety features on striker fired guns, do they still work with a 2# aftermarket trigger kit?

The goal is to one day get a czechmate or a purpose built open gun, but cost is out of reach at the moment. I also unfortunately don't have any buddies that are machinist or have the means to get the equipment needed to learn myself.

I more or less wanted to do this just to sate my inner desire to tinker, you know, idle hands and all. Also, given that comps on shadows are a rarely treaded upon territory, my interest was peaked to try and find a viable solution. Given what you said about the guide rods though, it would appear going with one that only attached via threads might be the best option given my limitations.

The easiest thing you could do is get a 1/2x28 threaded TS barrel (so you wouldn't have to worry about the comp interfering with the frame and Loctite an SJC 11 port Glock comp on it.

I'm not positive a barrel that long would fit in the slide without modification though.

Ah you're exactly who I hoped would comment. I've found that cz custom, cgw, and eeimantech make replacement steel guide rods for the ts/ts2/tso, shooters connection also makes a tungsten one but it comes at a price. I did think the barrel idea might of been a bust, as I didn't account for the shoulder/extra length before the threading too.

Do you sell any of the comps you make? I'm new to the enos forum and haven't gotten the hang of searching around on it yet. Moreover, would you make a 1/2x28 comp with a cz profile e.g. czechmate style? I'd be interested. If that were the case, and I snagged one of the aforementioned guide rods and a czc barrel, it might work with little modification. At most, I'd notch the front of the frame, but trying to avoid going past the point of no return.

The replacement guide rods are not the right shape/diameter to index the comp.

I hate to be the Debbie Downer s#!tting on all your ideas, but I've been down almost every road imaginable when in comes to CZ Open. I've spent a decade and plies of money messing around with Open guns to end up with a primary and backup which are very similar to Czechmates. If you love CZs and want to shoot Open I beg you to buy a Czechmate and enjoy yourself!

If your motivation is to save money, trust me, you won't.  I've had custom parts manufactured, I've bought and sold dozens of guns, I've done slow motion comp testing with almost every powder imaginable, all to finally admit none of it really matters that much!

  11. Short answer to your barrel question is yes, a TS barrel is compatible with an S2 slide, but 0.4" is not a lot of barrel to get a tight thread on these guns (yes, I know bull barrel 2011 Open guns only have 0.4" of thread, but they don't have to be taken off to disassemble), the Tanfoglio small frame Open guns have 0.9" of barrel past the slide.

I've done similar things to what you're talking about, but not without modification of the slide, plus the Czechmate guide rod you're talking about is not available for sale anywhere (I had to make my own).

That's crazy. Heard the same thing this weekend, "it's so abrasive it will wear out your barrel".

The internet is a crazy place 🤣

The first I'd heard of this was on Facebook within the past few months, I believe it was a comment by Stuart @eerw

I have shot a small amount of AA7, so I can't comment on long term barrel wear, but I will contradict the statement above that it's the same powder as Shooter's World Major Pistol. The two powders have a similar burn rate (SWMP is sightly slower), but you don't get the same cornmeal residue from SWMP.

I’m curious.  Why the 9x25?   With 38sc and 9mm major being a thing and much more readily available.     Is it because you just have the components?      I’m just trying to find what the benefits are for that caliber.

    30% more case capacity!!!

This is their annual "Fistful of Steel" match that LP puts on, mostly as a warm-up for folks that are going to be attending the annual "PSA Shootout".  It's a fun match with about 150 falling steel targets: https://practiscore.com/lprgc-a-fistful-of-steel-2022/register

Not sure how long you will be in town, but there is a Steel Challenge match that same day in Easton and another on Sunday in Maryland at Eastern Shore.  Both are listed on Practiscore.

I fly out on Sunday, but my friend and I got registered on squad 2 for the fistful of steel!

I think this is where I'm going to start. Try a few different loads and see which one works best for my son.

I may try a lighter bullet. You're the second person that suggested it so I might have to give it a shot.

Definitely think I'm going to stay away from major with this one. I have a new open gun on the way shortly, so I don't need to worry about pf with this one.

Thanks for your input. I'm going to order up some lighter bullets and see how they do. Just need to make sure they can knock over 36" poppers.

That might be a tall order 🤔
