I am having trouble installing new Limcat brass +1 basepads on my 140mm .40cal STI tubes ( I am using Gram spring/follower). Gram's basepads fit fine.
Is there some trick to getting these to fit ??- the flared bottom of the mag tube goes only halfway into the brass basepad and no further, so the hinged side will not close without crushing the flared tube bottom.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Since I do not have access to a chronograph, I was hoping someone could give me an estimate of what fps I can expect from the following load when shot from a Kimber 1911 with a 5inch barrel:
Powder: VV N 320 6.0gr
Bullet: 185gr JHP .45ACP
Primer: CCI
OAL: 1.22in
Mixed brass
I want to be sure I make major.
Thanks.
2 questions from a newbie:
1) Will a factory stock Kimber Gold Match 1911 fit/work with a new Ghost Holster, or do Ghost holsters fit only STI/SV frame guns?
2) Is a Ghost Holster legal in Limited 10 division?
Thanks.
Thanks for your suggestions. I guess I was looking for an easy answer after experimenting with different loads for a few years.
I know one thing, no more Winchester 231 - too dirty.
I tried loading Remington 185gr SWC for my KImber Gold match. No matter what OAL, they still did not feed properly (1in 10 round jams using Wilson Combat 10 round mags). Had to switch to Flat Point or Round nose.
In this Forum's vast experience, what is the ideal load to make Major in IPSC with a .45ACP from a 5" barrel - what powder (VV320, Clays, etc)? what bullet (Zero, Montana Gold, 185 or 200gr)?
Thanks for your help.
I have just purchased a DP Tungsten guide rod for my Kimber Gold Match. The stock Kimber guide rod has a beveled edge where it would meet the frame cutout while the DP tungsten does not. Does anyone know if this will cause a problem?
