  1. I'm using a Para 40 - not the tightest slide fit - I was wondering if heavier spring might give a better return to same zero. Note: I get 26 rounds in my mags with room to load - I had two tubes cut and welded into one big stick. I should be okay most times with 26+1 even with a forced reload somewhere. I like using my old Para 40 mags that hold 21 rounds. Still getting used to the ported shock and change in recoil from Limited.
  2. Does this summarize the effect or are there more factors: Too light a spring with more flip on recoil and less force of slide going forward. >> Slide opens faster/harder and closes slower with less spring resistance Too heavy spring absorbs recoil and then slams slide home and down making it DIP. >> Slide opens slower and closes faster with more spring resistance Perfect spring cycles the action and returns it to battery without extreme open or close speed So this is where a lighter slide can change the balance because the inertia on both open and close will be reduced.
  3. Different people have different dexterity - the only stylus I've seen at our matches was a guy with an iPhone and he said it was nice. The dexterity can change with gloves or if the device is stuck in a rain proof bag too. But having a fat hand in the way versus a pencil stick in theory when you have to scroll or other things could allow you to see an inadvertent change. Styli are about a buck each in bulk from Amazon and they work - they may get lost or in the way before they are useful . . .
  4. My open 40 cycles and runs on 10# and 12# - what trades offs do I look for to choose? e.g generally are there measurable changes to observe - like pistol size small and light gets more snappy on recoil and to point - heavier and bigger will not respond as quickly to recoil nor to transition. What are the pros and cons on too light a spring versus too heavy - with limits that the gun still feeds and functions on the ammo.
  5. On stage electronic scoring is in large part devoid of paper - this is what SkyDiver is referring too. We've all used EzWinScore the default electronic scoring at matches - but that is a paper based system with one sheet or duplicates on stage for major matches. SkyDiver points out that a stage scored on a handheld electronic device doesn't offer the space and even the explicit hand written timestamp you get with paper. On major matches there should be a shorthand summary sheet that could recreate a score - if the device lost one - but that would be a line or two per shooter on a sheet - not a full score sheet. This is where the on stage printer could come in - but having used PractiScore - it still would not have a way to note 'foot fault' versus say 'FTE' for a procedural. Without that decalaration the arbitration would seem to go to the shooter on any question.
  6. I've had my Para's 10+ years - factory P16/40 magazines were easier to get (if more expensive) before the ban expired. I think I have all I can use but I often click and come up empty when doing my survey. I just hit Para Pro Shop and they show base pads - I found HiCaps - only 12 and 14 rounds 45's came up at Para just now. During the ban I did CDNN at $100 each - I see 9mm and 45 only at CDNN the many times I have looked in recent years. I just scanned the current PDF catalog at CDNN and again only P14 and P18 - and as noted above Meggar in 15 round in the CDNN pdf. I've never used anything but Para and had good performance.
