  1. Can you add: Choate Multi-Gun Melee, October 11-13, MVSA, Hot Springs AR Don't have a website up and not yet taking registrations. Contact: Ted Smethers tsmethe@gmail.com 501-620-0601
  2. You are invited to register for the Arkansas State IDPA Championships to be held on May 18 at Mountain Valley Sportsman's Association range in Hot Springs, AR. You can find the registration form at http://www.mvsaonline.com/. Or you can e-mail me at tsmethe@entergy.com or see attached file. We will have the usual guns and other stuff on the prize table. We will do 12 stages of fire and competitors will get a t-shirt. We will be using IDPA's new on-line squadding and score the match using Practi-Score. We run a good match with scores posted quickly, friendly SO's and staff and some of the best Bar-B-Que in the south for lunch. For this match we have chosen to pull from the best of the past 5 years of Regional match stages and so this will be a "Best of" match. We think you'll have a good time. We are not doing a match hotel, everything will be done at the range. Hot Springs is a resort town and there are ample hotel/motel options to choose from. 3. We still have a few open spots for this great one-day match. Got 3 guns on the prize table, plus stuff from Midway, Brownells, Sierra, Bayou Bullets, TDSA and Boomer Shooters, dang, I know there are more, just can't think of them all right now. So far the vast majority are registered Tactical, with a good number of Limited and like 2 Open shooters. The Open guys want to shoot Open and so we are going to keep the Open class. What I'll do is allocate the prize money to divisions based upon the percent of shooters. So if 5% of the shooters are Open they will get 5% of the cash. Only going to pay top 5 in biggest division, Tactical, to make the payouts good. Prize table will be random draw from among everyone, including the cash winners. Also, my wife is going to cook up some great beef stew for lunch and I hope to have enough you can eat again after the match during awards. We will use Practi-Score and so there should not be a long wait for scores to talley up. If possible, we will let the competitors sync up and get the results. e-mail me if you have any questions. 4. All of the Open shooters have elected to switch to Tactical or Limited. There are no Heavy Metal shooters. So the Choate Multi-Gun Melee will likely be a Tactical/Limited match! We are still planning to distribute $2000 cash to the top winners. Probably top 5 in Tactical and top 2 in Limited. This will make the payouts descent for those who win. All competitors will be in the random drawing for prizes. We have a Zombie AR 15, a Mossberg 930 JM Pro (hardest gun to buy in America I think), a certificate for a CZ Pistol and other stuff from Sierra, Bayou Bullets and others. Still got room for 15 more shooters. The stages are final and I think Mark will post them soon. We decided to drop one stage because the swinging stand you were going to have to ride in was too dang heavy to haul to the range. But 7 stages will make for a full day of shooting. We will have our shooters meeting at 7 AM and try to get started by 7:30. We will break for lunch and I plan on cooking up a big pot of beef stew. Will keep it going all afternoon. We will be doing USPSA Time Plus Scoring using Practi-Score and paper for backup. Load it up on your iPhone or Android and we'll try to let competitors synch up and stay current with scoring. Our Rifle stage will be in the woods, 30 shots if you don't shoot any extra. Longest shots will be about 300 YDs and you will need to engage two full size steel targets twice each from 3 different positions plus a few others between here and there. Should be fun. There will be one all-shotgun stage of 31 birdshot with a rabbit, two fliers, a couple flippers and various steel and a star. The round count is well balanced among the three guns. Mark has done a great job on the stages. Go to Choate webeite and see Newsroom to download the application forms. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.
