  1. On the pistol side of things, we have the 23 foot requirement for steel. On the rifle side of things, we have the 147 foot requirement. Even tho PCC uses pistol rounds, the velocities are closer rifle speeds which will cause much more dangerous splatter when struck on steel. There is a reason why rifle steel must be placed so much farther away. Why is PCC not going to have to adhere to this safety issue?
  2. The ez_class_update.zip has now been updated with the December 2015 info.
  3. The December Classification file on the USPSA website still contains the November file. We reported it last week but the staff was out on vacation. Still not fixed as of Monday night. Whatever mechanism is used for PractiScore updates must be tied as they are not updating either.
  4. We reported an issue with the latest version of PS iOS that cannot import the files into EzWS due to the names. PS support and EzWS support are working on it.
  5. LOL, Damn those MD. Life in stats would be so much easier without them! Yes, there are always exceptions. We just deal with them, don't we.
  6. Once Ken's update comes out, we should be able to handle late arrivals much easier. Until then, we handle the shooters as follows: * USPSA and our TimePlus 3-Gun matches are required to be pre-registered. Up until JAN 1, 2016, non-preregistered shooters are given the evil eye by stats (that "eye" has resulted in about a 95% success rate!) but she puts them in and we send out an announcement over the PA to "Stages Please Synch your Ipads". We do not squad and shooters have a 90 minute window from the published start time to show up to shoot. Current plans are to enforce pre-registration or don't shoot next year. With Ken's update, we may not need that. * Tuesday Night Steel has a signup window from 3-7pm and we have over 200 shooters. No way pre-registration will work nor can we send out Synch PA announcements every 5 minutes. As a result, we cannot use PS. Again, once the push update is available, we may be able to use it. * Large matches such as Area II and WSSSC are not a problem since everyone is pre-registered.
  7. The registration push sounds good but what do you mean by a "mode you enter"? Will it still require the scoring RO to leave the score screen to pick up the new shooters? Our pads do not sleep so I am a bit concerned that they will be constantly checking and wearing down the battery.
  8. I had just asked this of Troy and he said that PS should be able to do it now, I presume by adding the division manually. EzWinScore should have it available this week as well.
  9. No, the classifications will come back once the member dues are paid.
  10. how is the new site going? Any expected rollout date?
  11. Sorry for the late response. Yes, sign up for our match runs from 2:30pm to 7pm. Shooters can show up anytime during that period and begin shooting. If they complete their first run before 7pm, they can (and often do) sign up to shoot a second gun. Stages are shotgun start so they can go wherever the line is shortest or with their friends. As you can see, there is no way we could do squads. We hold a safety meeting for new shooters each week as well and generally have 4-8 new shooters in each class. Our mailing list has over 1000 names on it so we never know who is going to show up. Yes, there are many regulars that are there every week but many more that come out as their time and bullet supply permits. I hope this helps the understanding of how important it is to allow master control of registration and pushing changes out to the stage ipads. We do not use dedicated RO's (although that may be coming at some point in the future to help with safety), so the stage iPads need to be delegated solely to scoring and not allow local changes which may cause more harm than good. One example of that is that if registration is allowed on the stage, then people could go straight to the stage and bypass payment of the match.
  12. We only had one stage out of 8 that had that option. The rest of our match was more of a general steel match. Per string penalties might be a good option to add tho. I will submit that to Mantis.
  13. We just ran our Spring Steel match using the Time Plus option. (IOS version) We did have one stage with 4 strings, keep the best 3. Penalties had to be manually added to each time string to determine the best three times then we zeroed out the worst stage. Worked fine but would have been nice to have a way to keep the penalties with the string. Didn't have any other issues and hoping to use it for Steel Challenge matches this summer. We hope to someday be able to push updates out from our Master to the Stages so that we could use this for our Tuesday Night Steel matches. With 200+ shooters, there ain't no way we would ever be able to keep up with the stages forced to sync with the master. Congrats on the Android version getting locked stage capability. Hoping to see that on IOS soon. Stages should not be doing anything other than scoring, never making shooter or match changes.
  14. The PractiScore site has been up and down since mid-last week and has been hard down since Sunday 2/15. Anyone know the status of when it will be fixed?
  15. This release should also allow, and indeed, recommend the loading of the current iOS which should help some synch issues. From the PractiScore site, New syncing interface. Scan your network for devices. Devices are stored for faster finding and connecting. Custom categories. The gender, age, mil, law, foreign values have been converted into customizable categories. Added ProAm scoring with a “time plus” tie breaker stage option. Added CSV (excel) export for many match types. ICORE, PASS, USCA and others coming soon. Switch between “Time Plus” and “Time Plus w/ Points” on the fly. IDPA reports show memeber numbers. Fixed several layout and navigation issues in iOS8. General performance improvements. New Icon. PRS score sorting and posting fix. Russell put in tons of hours on this and his work is very much appreciated! Pete
  16. We are all Apple and have always had synching issues. The latest OS as well as the Beta iOS PractiScore version are trying to help but it is still an issue. I have always thought part (maybe most) of the issue is that we must support more than just G, since we have other devices. I expect having to work with the rest of the world is not something that keeps Apple up at night, but it sure does for the rest of us!
  17. We have been using PractiScore to register for our weekly USPSA matches as well as our L2 sectional and L3 Area matches for quite some time. There are some limitations, particularly with working with multiple clubs and especially with a very limited online payment and shopping cart system, but we deal with them. We do find that the USPSA squadding system is more flexible and since we use PractiScore as a front end for EzWinScore, it works much better for us to manage the squads. We hope that the updated club management process will allow us to make the final break and process fully in the PS system.
  18. Troy did get back about paper vs electronic. There is no ruling. Paper is definitive.
  19. Email has been sent. Will post the reply if I get an answer.
  20. Other way around, as I recall from a John Amidon ruling. Any way to find the content of that ruling? The NROI page at USPSA.org hasn't been updated in years.
  21. Yep, paper wins. Until the rule is changed, that is the OFFICIAL copy. I agree that. in reality, the electronic copy is more accurate since another layer of error is introduced with the human copying of the summary info from the pad to the paper, but it is what it is.
  22. As Chuck mentioned, we use 2-part NCR summary pages for the Area 2 match as required by 9.11.2. For level 1 matches, we no longer provide paper scoresheets at all. Chrono sheets are also printed and a copy is provided to the competitor. The form that I created has been incorporated in the current version of EzWinScore and can be printed as needed. PractiScore currently has no method of handling chrono. One other point is that since we are now only recording the summary info, we are able to use generic stage scoresheets and thus our printing costs have dramatically been reduced. It is also much easier to supply the stage buckets since the stage number is written on the form by the stage staff or the competitor.

    iOS 8

I was going to ask if anyone has seen any issues with Apple's new iOS 8 but just heard that Apple has pulled it. Oh well, it will hit us rather we want it or not so just looking to see if anyone finds problems or good things that we need to be aware of as far as PractiScore is concerned.
  24. And I understand the ability to manage multiple clubs with one master email account? Whoo Hoo. We need that badly. Thanks Ken and Team for all the work.
