  1. I've seen a very similar situation with shotguns more than once; the "20-in-12" scenario. Bugled and split barrels ensue, obviously. Not obvious. We shot 12s in 10s, 20s in 12s, and 16s in 20s...over 100 rounds during a test...absolutely no damage at all. I think he means loading a 20 into a 12, having it slide down the barrel until it got stuck, loading a 12 behind it and firing. I had this almost happen when a bunch of buddies were out shooting trap in the woods. One of the kids had just gotten a 870 20ga and I had a 870 12ga. The kid once grabbed my 12ga and loaded a 20ga, didn't fire. I went to check out what happened and caught his mistake, but he was about to load another 20ga and try again. The first was halfway down the barrel, I was lucky to catch him in time, but it was scary once everyone knew what almost happened.
  2. Different dies will be needed for sizing, bullet seating might work with a 9mm die. The 380 is straight walled and the 9mm is tapered, thus the 9mm dies won't size the 380 correctly.
  3. Using dummy rounds also makes it easier because the feed lips won't catch on the edge of the magwell like in your pic. You can just put one dummy round in each magazine to get the right effect, but loading them full up also helps you get the right weight in the mag also.
  4. I was shooting this match on his squad also. He had 4 questionable rounds, 3 that the bullet left the barrel, and 1 that was a real squib, bullet stuck in the barrel. The squib was the last one and after that, he withdrew himself from the match. There was only 1 stage left to go, and he called it a day. So really, he pulled himself after the first squib, but after the 4th suspect load. Just wanted to add my account to this thread.
  5. Check on the Keltec forum, I used to be pretty active over there and IIRC, you can punch the front sight out and re-install it aftwerwards. For re-install, you just push it back into place and hit the bottom of the tabs with a soldering gun to melt the plastic to be larger than the holes on the bottom, thus retaining the front sight on the slide. You would be well off to remove the front sight before re-finishing and re-installing it after the refinishing is done. Also, if you damage the front sight, it is likely that Keltec will send you a new one for free anyways, their customer service is great at just sending parts when something is wrong. I damaged my firing pin myself, and even after telling them that I was doing something explicitly prohibited in the manual, they still sent me new parts for free. I even offered to pay, and they denied. Good luck with you refinishing job!
  6. Yes, you are incorrect. This same rule applies just like in production and limited 10. Regardless of your magazine capacity, the maximum rounds loaded into a magazine is restricted, not the magazine size itself. In SS, it is the size of the magazine that is limiting it because of having to fit inside the box, not the capacity of the magazine.
  7. If it is a disappearing target, then he would get 2 No Penalty Mikes, and no failure to engage on the D/T. The rest of the remaining targets would be scored with all applicable mikes and FTE's.
  8. I am a fairly new RO, but my take on it is if an RO did not see it, it didn't happen. Since the competitor took 6 shots, there was 6 steel, the RO was watching the gun, not the targets, then it would be scored as if he had 6 hits. If the scorekeeper was doing his job and saw the plate fall without being hit, then he should stop the shooter and reset for a reshoot. According to the rulebook, it is a REF and a reshoot, but if neither the RO or the Scorekeeper saw the plate fall without being hit, then it would be scored as 6 hits. The other option would be if the steel was freshly painted and you inspected it and there was no hit, then it could also be called a REF and reshoot even if you did not see it during the COF. This breaks down though if the steel was not painted between shooters.
  9. I used their chat feature once and it was a pleasure. I have had bad experiences with other websites chats that have you wait forever and are basically unresponsive when you actually get connected to someone. With USPSA, I was connected within minutes, not hours, and someone actually chatted with me and quickly and clearly answered my question. Definitely recommended to use the chat if you have a question for USPSA.
  10. A couple of days ago on my personal profile there was a notice of my membership being updated, but I had not updated my membership. I talked to their online chat help and she told me that they were updating stuff or moving to a new server or something and that some stuff was getting scrambled. Maybe this message was related to that.
  11. They should make a mount that could attach to a pistols rail and then have an adjustment up and down to account for different barrel heights and rail locations. Then it should work for a semi-auto, or am I missing something....
  12. I have been reloading on a LCT for about 4 months now. I shoot about 300-400 rounds a month and it works great for me. I can do 150 rounds an hour if I get into the right rhythm, and the economics of it can't be beat. I bought at Kempf's with the Pro powder measure, bought a scale seperately and started loading. I have not had any problems with my LCT, but I have only loaded about 800 rounds on it. It is interesting to see other people worrying about finding ammo to shoot, when I have components for over 2000 rounds stocked up and ready to be assembled whenever I want to go shooting. It is a great feeling to be self reliant for your ammo shooting needs and not have to rely on Walmart to be stocked whenever you want to go shooting. Either way you go, enjoy your new reloading hobby!
  13. I bought some grip tape from amazon, it was a sheet made for a skateboard. I think it was around $8 and had enough to do multiple guns. You could probably get it locally if you had a skate shop near you as well.
  14. I understand the differences, but just wanted to draw the parallel that shooting with a par time can drain the fun out of USPSA if it is used in every stage. If you start using it on every stage, you get away from using HF and more towards pure points, much like the Pro-Am steel down scoring. Yes, I am sure it was the same club, TCGC. Majority of people there were saying they would not have showed up if they had known they were running a Pro-Am style match in lieu of their regularly scheduled USPSA match.
  15. A couple weeks ago one of the monthly local club matches decided to do a Pro-Am style match. This means the stages are all steel, they all have par times, and only 10 rounds in a magazine, no matter what kind of gun you were shooting. Personally, I did not care for it because if you made one small mistake, you just didn't get close to finishing. Usually, if I botch a reload, I just get a larger time, but not getting to finish a stage is demoralizing, especially when you can't finish any of them all day. A lot of people felt that way and I don't think it was a smart move switching to that from the regularly scheduled USPSA match. On another note, it was funny watching guys with their big sticks loaded to 10 rounds getting taken by surprise by reloads so often.
  16. http://www.colfaxtactical.com/about.html Here is a place that you can get everything from. They have a bunch of info on their website about it.
  17. I have a SR9c that I use as my EDC. 1. When I first bought the pistol, I was having trigger reset issues. I sent it back to Ruger to get fixed. When it was returned to me, it had the same problem. I talked to them again and they agreed to replace it with a new one. The replacement has been 100% from the day I got it. I have fired everything from UMC, to Tula, to reloads, everything works great. 2. Fantastic. Watch Hickok45's videos about the SR9c, he raves about the trigger. 3. Sights are good, not great. The rear sights are kind of radiused on the top of them. People have said that they don't like them, but it never really bothered me. I can hit good with them, and a lot of that is thanks to the good trigger. 4. No issues here. The great trigger really lends itself to good accuracy as well. If you do your job, it will do its. I really like this pistol, it feels really good in my hand, the recoil is almost non-existent, and with the longer magazine with the grip adapter it is like you have a full-size handgun in your hand at the range. I feel extremely confident in it as a carry pistol. I have the stainless version, and I think it is a very good looking handgun as well, if that matters to you. The edges are all very radiused which lends itself to carry.
  18. The slide stop will break in with use. Mine is easy to thumb off now and return the gun to battery.
  19. I agree. I have video'd a couple of matches first person, and it is fun to review the match when you get home. I leave it running through the scoring so I can go back over my hits on different stages. It really helps me remember how I am progressing rather than just looking at a score sheet.
  20. There were 560 total points in the match, I shot 437 counting my penalties, and 497 not counting penalties. So that would be 78% with penalties, 88.75% without penalties. I was first in C Production, 7th overall in production with 66.2%, and 20th overall with 55%. There were 58 competitors and 17 production shooters.
  21. Great, hopefully you did better with your finger off the trigger than at ARPC! Glad you are continuing and not letting your first DQ discourage you! I will probably be seeing you around.
  22. My latest match video. I tried to work on a lot of your tips here, and I think I did pretty good. My hits on steel need to improve, but my hits on paper are pretty good majority of the time. My weak hand only shooting sucks big time, I had 4 mikes on the stage with weak hand shooting. Let me know what you think. On the second stage, after the first target I transitioned into my ejected brass. I don't know if that is good or bad, just thought it was kind of cool to see the brass bounce off the slide when I turned.
  23. Yeah, I have only shot a swinger one other time, so I don't have a lot of practice on them at all. I needed to make sure I was in position before hitting the activator, then I would have had time to break the shot as the first one came to a rest. But as I did it, I activated the targets, found my sights, and engaged. I should have found my sights, activated targets, then engage. I am shooting a match tomorrow and I will work on shooting into and out of positions. It may be rainy, so I don't know if I will get video, but I will try.
  24. I have been using a SR9 in USPSA for a couple months, it has served me well. I put a new trigger bar in it, some new springs and some polishing and I think the trigger is good. I don't know what the pull weight is, but it is not gritty at all, just smooth until the break. I need to get some new sights for it. I blacked out the rear sights, but I think I want a FO front sight on it, maybe add some grip tape and I will be all set.
  25. I just bought a HD808 #16 camera with a 120* lens off of ebay that I used to film my last match. I am pretty happy with it. Check out the pictures of it attached to my glasses and the video. It records in 720P, and with the 120* lens, I can see a lot. It only cost me about $45 all in, camera and sd card. I had the material for the mount already, I just made it out of hobby plywood glued and screwed together. Then I just used a small binder clip to clip it to my glasses. The camera then gets velcro'd to the mount. Pretty stable for what it is. Search ebay for "HD 808 #16" and look for the one with the 120* lens.
