  1. I had tried 3.4, 3.5, and 3.6 g clays at 1.125 out of my cz shadow. The 3.6 was getting 128 but that seems a little close for comfort at the chrono. I have thought about shortening it up to somewhere between 1.110 and 1.115 to see if that would give me a little more room.
  2. I really like one shot on pistol brass, it is not as oily as other case lubes and it makes the press run so much smoother.
  3. I empty after sessions unless i will be loading within a couple days. I have heard certain powders will stain the powder hopper if left in for extended periods of time.
  4. CeeZer what bullets are you using with clays to make power factor? I have been shooting 125g BBI and 124g Bayous and I liked that load with clays but was just barely able to make 125 PF. I have been using it for my steel challenge load but would like for it to work for USPSA until I can find more Solo.
  5. The best advice I received was to buy once cry once. I was turned on to a very nice dillon 650 with all the bells and whistles and am very glad I did. Others I know have bought a cheaper press and within a year went to a 650 also after seeing the difference. With a dillon progressive you can spend more time shooting than loading! If on a budget at least start with a nice press and you can always add the luxury accessories a little at a time.
  6. Same as Glk21 said. When I was new to loading I was having this happen every now and then. It happens a lot less now that I have some experience on it.
  7. Congrats on the new set up! Have not yet loaded any 223 so I cant speak for that but for all pistol calibers the dillon dies have been flawless. If loading lead or moly, dies like the Lee factory crimp or any combination seat/crimp dies will give you less than desirable results.
  8. I had ordered a set of 45 ACP dies monday 7/15 and received them today, they shipped next day.
  9. I know that with moly coated bullets the Lee FCD is not reccomended because it will do what freakshow said. It resizes the bullet.
  10. I got a Shadow Custom with short reset trigger and a competition trigger job last winter. I have been very pleased with the gun. The DA/SA did not take long to get used to and with the short reset trigger there is very little take up, very similar to a good 1911 trigger! This was my first CZ and I would definately buy another. After shooting it a bit the only thing I changed was the safeties. Went with the shadow thin safeties and now the gun is perfect.
  11. Are you sure you are not putting too much bell on the case and the crimp is set sufficently?

    BBI 124gr

Are you referring to the BBI 125g RN? If so in my shadow I have been running them at 1.125. Barrel is un-reamed.
  13. I ran some loads over the chrono last week and was able to get to a 126 power factor with 3.6g solo@ 1.120 w/ 124g bayou, 3.8g solo @ 1.120 w/ 124g bayou got 129PF and 3.8 solo @ 1.120 w/ 125g BBI got 131 PF. Was 56 degrees and raining that day.
  14. I have a few thousand through my shadow and have no complaints. Accuracy and consistency is great. Just tested a bunch of the 125 BBI against the Bayou 124's and the BBI's were more consistent over the chrono. They almost cut in half the Extreme Spread and Standard Deviation numbers of the bayous. They are a little dirtier than bayou but have shown to perform excellent.

    Shadow Thin Safeties

Do you still have the thin safeties? Are they still in working order?

    Shadow Thin Safeties

Sounds pretty easy. I do have the SRTS on the gun but it sounds like I should be able to handle it. Im always willing to learn! It looks like they are going to be what I need to help with my problem.

    Shadow Thin Safeties

Thanks Lee, the fitting just consists of a little filing I assume? Just want to make sure im not gonna waste the cash and f*#k them up or have them not work.

    Shadow Thin Safeties

I been having a problem flipping on the safeties on my shadow when pushing myself. On draws when my support hand comes onto the gun the safety on the LHS safety gets bumped. On mag changes when I "flip" the gun I bump the RHS safety with my knuckle. I have small hands and can not rest my thumb on the safety either. I have been looking at getting a set of the Shadow thin safeties and am wondering if anyone else has used them to fix this problem and how well they worked? Are they difficult to fit? I am hoping to have this problem solved before Area 5.
  20. I agree with DWFAN, my fingers get dirty whenever I handle any companies products enough. I started using BBI and have been extremely happy so far. I will definately continue to use them.
  21. I too had understood the rule as sharps did until I saw this thread. This will be good to know for future refrence. Thanks.
  22. I was put on list on 2/8 and got a call on sunday! They are now on the way.
  23. Should have stated caliber on the box on a sticker.
