  1. Hip shooting is definitely a talent. As a kid I thought I would shoot the bail of hay with my crossbow from the hip, I shot way over the bail found arrow 3 three houses down on other side of the block. Not a do again glad no one saw that.
  2. I second this during the weekI I drink a lot of coffee, I have a weekend night job, I find if I drink water all through the night I do alot better through out the match I just wait until I am enroute to the match for first cup of coffeeJust my 2 cents
  3. This, IMO is good solid adviceas you shoot 3 gun there will be people with rifle issues by going the JP route you simply avoid having a Frankenstein rifle that may or may not run smooth.
  4. That falls squarely on you. That is not any wrongdoing by Brownells. To suggest otherwise is just wrong. That should not even be mentioned as a small complaint! Was in humor, letter was from Brownells, I did get to meet Preston at a local OPPS club match in OK this summer he was a super nice guy.To the OP didn't mean to hijack thread I just wanted to say all 3 vendors have shipped quickly only thing worse than waiting on a vendor to ship is repeatedly checking at the post office for two weeks only then finding out order was at post office for the last two weeks. Good Luck
  5. Joe Bobs Outfitters, Midway & Brownell have always shipped fast for me. Only small complaint about Brownells is after I purchased a surgeon action they sent a thank you letter to my billing address and I did not want my wife to see that in black & white. On the other hand the letter was signed with real ink.
  6. tech give me this same advice about a year ago finally a friend brought over his comparator the problem casings were 1-3 thousands to long. Everything fed great it was very hard to eject certain rounds, the problem rds worked in my other ar 15 just fine I tried everything in order to get the casings to work. I finally bought a small base die and problem went away. My rifle was chambered in. 223 wylde
  7. My son is 14 now and he has no I interest in guns. When he was younger around 5 I had taken him to shoot BB guns 8-10 we shot .22's. When we would go it was about him shooting as opposed to him watching me. From age 2-5 he would ask to look in safe & knew not to touch the trigger. I always felt if I left a gun out he would never touch it at a very early age. I have a nephew a year younger he was a bird killing machine at 8 with a pellet gun, at ten I could trust him walking behind me with a firearm. My son loves sports baseball basketball & modern warfare on PlayStation. I will ask you wanna go shoot he replies no but we can play catch. I always wonder if there was something I could of done different. Then again my dad was a car person who didn't care for guns & I have never had much interest in cars. Lol
  8. As I was reading I was not paying attention to names I thought "hey that's what Benny recommended at the Arkansas multigun sectional" as I got further down I realized oh Benny was the poster. Glad I got to meet Benny he give me a lesson in how to adjust the Rolling Thunder.
  9. Last fall I took a night vo-tech class for precision machining the instructor pretty much let us make whatever we wanted (legal of course). I made 5 different comps along with 1 inch & 30mm alignment bars for scope mounting. Great way to learn about the mill & lathe without spending $ or worrying about damaging a friends equipment. Just a thought later
  10. Where to start ... I am right there with you guys I get up at 515 to go work out in the morning I have worked out at least twice a week every week since January of 2010. I get a hr for lunch Feb thru end of April I would shoot at lunch 2-4 times a week mainly 50 .22 followed by 51 9mm mixing in some shotgun & rifle. This complicated time management, now I have to find time to reload to practice & reload for matches. I shoot 3 gun mainly so I have to change the reloader over for. 223... I coach my girls U8 softball team & my son is 14 playing baseball her practice/games & his games keep me busy enough. In order to fund this sport I work Fri & Sat night shifts. At the end of the day I get the super dad award, my wife regularly gives me some hateful looks, I benched 405 recently & I have finished in the top 5 at several local matches this year. What keeps me shooting is first I love shooting always have and two in Oklahoma we have a great group of guys running & shooting the matches. I have learned in life there are certain windows of opportunities, I shoot as much as I can but no matter how tired I get if my little girl ask to play catch or ride bikes I get up and do it. just glad to know we are all in the same rat race later Corey
  11. Hello I shot my first 3 gun match May of 2011 at the OKC gun club since then I have shot 3-gun at Old Fort, Double Tap & USSA I am throughly hooked. I had always watched matches on TV but never realized local gun matches were going on every weekend a hour away. What a great discovery. I have met lots of great people. I have read a great deal of post and even ordered from the the store but never posted so here I am. I hope to shoot some major matches on down the road. Until then Later, Corey
