  1. dang, i already bought a case of it. oh well, i guess i will just have to shoot all of it. what about adding thick rubber washer to threads of the mag tube, might add a 1/4 of an inch?
  2. i heard the CR speed will not work w/ a glock w/ a carver mount unless you do a lot of modifications to the mount and/or the holster. is this true?
  3. which open style competition holsters work w/ which scope mounts? i'm trying to decide btwn carver mount w/ a c-more or THE mounts w/ an aimpoint. but which holsters work with these, with as little or no modifications? ghost? CR speed? am i missing any? basically i would like a red dot and a speed holster, but i would like to modify the gun and the gear as little as possible. someday i may want to return the glock back to stock.
  4. i just got a Win SX2 practical mk 1 for 3guning. but i found out in the last match that i can only fit 7 winchester reduced recoil slugs in the mag tube. this leaves me 1 rnd short in standard class. i can fit 8 bird shot shells for a total of 9 rnds in the gun. anyone else have this problem? any solutions?
  5. dang, now i have to get another one
  6. the only things you NEED are: 3 good magazines (one in the gun, one for reloads, one in case of malfunctions) a way to carry them now these are just helpful in 3gun: more mags (i have 11 and i'm buying more) a good way to carry them for fast reloads (i use an Eagle assault chest rig) some kind of optic (i use an aimpoint) a grip the fits you hand (i have a magpul modular grip) a stock that fits you (i got the adjustable duostock, but i'm getting the new magpul 93B) a good trigger (i had a custom trigger job done) compensators can help (i don't have one) back up parts in case of breakage (i always carry a spare bolt) you must also make sure your rifle is very reliable or do whatever it takes to become reliable. 500 rnds w/out any failures should be enough.
  7. i'm trying to order some choke tubes for my new SX2, but i can't figure out which ones work w/ the winchester standard invector system (other than the winchester ones). i'm looking for ones that are extended and winchester does not seem to make any.
  8. i vote for the Beretta 92G elite II. why? b/c it fits my hand and it goes bang every time. my dad has an XD-9 and it feels great, but we are having extractor problems and it is still a new gun.
  9. i just ordered a JP v-tac hand guard as well. when i asked jp if the tube could hold zero, he said that it does flex a bit. it is not enough to effect short range sights like their tactical iron sights, but it may change the POA, however slightly, for long range sights. i going to trying to mount the scope on the receiver first. only if there is no way to do it, will i try to mount it on the tube.
  10. i just got the scope today. what great glass! i'm very impressed. can't wait to try it out. but i need a mount. i'm looking at the rock river one piece mount. seems like a solid mount at a good price. any other suggestions? i need a quick release mount w/ repeatable zero, but i would rather not get a mount that is more expensive than the scope ($80)
  11. great info, guys. thanks. so what kind of belt and holster system would work w/ a carver mount and aimpoint/c-more?
  12. yes, he's rich. no, he does not want to be competitive. he just wants to shoot a .40, use a red dot, and have FUN. i said, "well, if you are going to use a red dot, why don't you just build an open gun." so, again, the question is: how would you build an open glock 35? also, how would you build the mags?

    open glock 35?

my dad wants to build an open gun using a glock 35. he does not reload and does not want to start, but he wants to use a red dot sight and he wants to say in major. he's also set on a tube style sight. how would you guys build it?
  14. +1 for chris rhines. he does all my guns. right now he is building my dad an open glock.
  15. what are the basic differences btnw a stainless steel barrel and a chrome lined barrel? which would be better for a 3 gun rifle?
  16. i'm in MD as well. MD law only prohibits 30 mags to be bought and sold in MD. you can still own and use them. everyone at my regular 3gun matches use 30 rnd mags. what most do is go to VA and buy some and drive back to MD. this does not break any laws. or you can have a friend w/ a VA address buy them for you. i just saw a bunch of 30 rnders at a shop called Guns and Ammo Warehouse in manassa for $20. otherwise, i think brownells has the lowest price on quality 30 rnd mags.
  17. i'm thinking of getting a back up gun for my productions beretta 92G elite II. what are you allowed to use if you primary competition gun goes down? does it have to be the exact same model? i'm looking at a used beretta 92G centurian as a back up gun. would this be legal? it is the same company, calibur and action. it is just a slightly different model. the centurian has a slighly lighter and shorter slide, less than 1/2 inch difference. the dust cover is also a little shorter, but otherwise the frame is exactly the same.
  18. ok, so what do you recommend to mount the scope?
  19. i just wanted to make sure i'm looking at the right optic. the recommendation is the Simmons ProDiamond 1.5-5x20mm shotgun scope model #899608 http://www.simmonsoptics.com/page12/SimmonsPage12.html is this right? it is designed for turkey hunting w/ a shotgun? also, is there a recommendation of how to mount the scope?
  20. what's the LOP on a cav arms lower?
  21. beretta 92G elite 2 worked over by ernest langdon
  22. you don't want your grip, either hand, to shift while shooting. it will slow you down and mess up your shooting if your left hand "is only along for the ride". you might as well be shoulding strong hand only. it is basically telling you your left hand is not supporting your gun like it should. on only courses of fire, this will really hurt you. therefore, my advice is do what ever it takes to keep your left hand in place. if what the "correct" grip does not allow you to do that, then change it. there is no one perfect grip for everyone. different people have different hands. basically the modern theory is to try to get as much of your supporting hand's palm on the gun as possible to help support. don't worry if by turing your hand to get as much contact, you dont' look like the 'pros". as long as you can achieve a solid, stable shooting grip and stance, it does not matter what it looks like.
  23. i since i've never used one, i am not an expert. but i beleive, they simply protect the shooter from burns for hot barrels. now i use a glove on my left hand when i reload during 3gun. i'd to not need to have to use the glove
  24. have you tried that one? i'm looking for personal exeriences.
