  1. ok, so i called so tech and now it seems that they can make it work. they should be sending me 3 molle shot shell strippers. if i get them, i'll let you all know how they work. thanks for all your help
  2. i don't need to use the shell carriers as ar15 pouches, but are choates' wide enough to handle longer slug shells? i find that some 2 3/4 slugs are longer than 2 3/4 shot shells.
  3. are California Competition Works' 12ga shotshell strippers still the best on the market? either the 4 or 6 shell strippers. the reason i ask it that i've been trying to get some shell strippers to attach to my molle chest rig. for about 5 months now, i've been waiting for SO Tech to send me some calif comp works strippers w/ molle attachments. they have them on their website and they kept saying it would be done in a few more weeks. well, they just call yesterday and said that they could not make it work. to say the least, i'm going to call them up and give them an ear full. but this still leaves me w/ no product. i've decided to build them on my own. so, are the CCW strippers still the best to build them out of, or is there any new tech on the market? i have a few CCW strippers and i like them, i just wanted to know if there were any choices out there. also, any one have any ideas on how to build a molle compatible shot shell stripper? i was just thinking of either hot glueing or screwing in some malice clips on the back of the stripper. thanks all
  4. i'm taking a G19, xd-9 (4"), and my beretta 92G centurian out to the range this weekend. i'm going to shoot them all side by side. which ever i shoot best, i'm going to use that platform this season.
  5. How about shooting the new single stack division with a 1911? it would be classified as minor
  6. i've been running an ernie langdon beretta 92g elite 2 for a bunch of years now and i love it. but, i've come to realize that the grip is just too big for me. i can't press the mag release w/out adjusting my grip. i believe this really hurts my performance. i want a new platform. here are my contenders, please comment and tell me if i'm missing something great. glock - this is the top contender. i shoot it well, the trigger is good, and there are a ton of accessories. the only negative is that everyone uses one and i would like to be a little different. xd - i really like this gun, but my dad has had reliability problems with his xd-9. a little gunk on the inside really messed it. i don't know the overall reputation and track reliability track record for this gun as a whole. also the trigger reset is terrible. sig - i don't shoot this gun well. the bore feels too high for me. cz - i can't reach the controls on this gun. sw-99 - i don't like the feel. and the decoker is in a terrible place. 9mm 1911 - this would be perfect if it was allowed in production division what do you all think? am i wrong anywhere? am i missing anything?
  7. is a 9mm 1911 allowed in production division of uspsa? my research says no, but i wanted to check. would the only place you could compete w/ one be limited or limited 10, but only as minor?
  8. thanks matt, i would like to take a look at your scope. please email me any pictures you have. also, could you tell me a little about why you chose that scope and reticle? is it THAT much better than mil-dots? thanks.
  9. so, i understand the horus H25 reticle is the hottest thing in MOR copetitions. i am only familiar with mil-dots, so i had a quesiton -- do you need to keep a data book w/ the H25 reticle? as i understand it, the H25 uses a computer program to generate either an exact position or come-up cards. but, how does this account for quirks w/ each particular rifle? i'm not super experienced, but i was under the impression that every rifle performs a little differently. That is why snipers keep data books for cold bore shots, etc... there are general come-ups, but every rifle needs to be shot for slight differences. does the horus program allow for this? 2nd question: i'm having a hard time finding 3rd party scope companies that sell their scopes w/ H25. do any of them have illuminated reticles? the horus reticle would be tuff to see in low light conditions w/out being lit. thanks
  10. get the new Magpul MIAD grip. http://www.bizplaces.com/magpul/search_res...en=ALL&iLevel=1 it's totally modular so you can custom fit it to your hand. plus it has multiple inserts to hold everything from batteries to spare bolts to extra rounds in the grip. i've had the pre-preduction version for awhile now and i love it. it's the only grip i've found that gets both my finger in the right position for the trigger and my thumb in the right position for the safety. it also eliminates the gap in the trigger guard.
  11. what a timely thread. i also just lost 2 tension screws for my versa mag pouches. so, is there no way to order an original part? also, i don't understand what to get at mcmaster-carr. the links above are for thumb nuts. i need the actual screw and the 2 nuts that go on either end.
  12. i'm getting ready for the NC Recon match. how do you pattern your shotgun? i want to go thru my different chokes to see how they perform, but i don't know what pattern to look for and what distances i should try. how big a pattern do you need? and how far do you need to test your shotgun too? i'm shooting a 12 ga. sx2 w/ winchester super-x game loads 1oz. 3 1/4 dr. eq. 8 shot 2 3/4 inches. i have a few different chokes.
  13. i've just changed my set up for production. the inner belt is fastened on the right under the holster position to add some thickness and move the gun a little farther away from my body. the outter belt is fastened in the front a little left of center. this allows me to add shot shell holders when i shoot 3gun and taken them off for pistol matches.
  14. could someone post contact info (website, phone) for canyon creek, please?
  15. how would you put an inexpensive red dot on a 6" 686 .357 mag? i'm trying to build an inexpensive pin gun. the factory sights are still on the gun. they are mounted w/ 2 screws on the top of the frame. i'm thinking of putting a tasco on it, but i'm open to other suggestions.
  16. http://www.bullite.com/ anyone ever try this. i saw it in the new issue of SWAT. it looks good. as least for DA guns.
  17. i have LTT speed bump trigger in my beretta 92G elite 2. i don't think it is production legal. however, i'm only a C class shooter (hoping to move to B this year), and i'm only planning to shoot 2-3 big matches this year. do the big matches check? i just don't want the hassle of changing out the trigger, but i will if i am going to get DQed. should i change the trigger?
  18. i talked to tim at JP rifles the other day and he recommended to buy DPMS 18" and then send it to JP for their package. they will be coming out w/ a new handguard for ar-10 which is 2" in diameter in stead of 2 3/4 inches. it will be maybe out in a month. he said there were a few issues w/ bushmasters b/c their receivers are 1" longer to accomodate the FN mags. this can also affect the charging handle. and they are more expensive. the best value and quality was the DPMS.
  19. i tried to load one on the carrier last night... i could not make it work. help?
  20. i was on the same search you are on only a few weeks ago. this is my experience: JP Rem 1100 - this was the first one i looked at b/c of it's reasonable price. but when i called JP, they said for it to run well, you had to do a cleaning (but only a quick one) every time after you shoot it. i don't clean, so that was out. Benelli - this was the second one i looked at b/c all the top shooters use it. but, when i tried one at the range, it really did kick more than other guns. i wanted something comfortable to shoot. Win SX2 Practical MkI - this is the one i ended up buying. super realiable, eats everything but the lightest ultra-light target loads, never needs cleaning, ready to 3gun right out of the box, very fast. the articles here also helped a lot: http://www.multigun.com/articles.html
  21. i was trying to figure out how to do that in the match i i'm not that smart. so how do you do it? don't you need to load the chamber before loading the mag tube? would this work: close the bolt on an empty chamber, load the mag tube, pull the bolt back slowly, load one into the tube and drop one on the carrier?
  22. do ar-15 float tubes work on ar-10s? how about ar15 charging handles and ar15 stocks, do they work on ar-10s?
  23. how would you build a .308 AR-style rifle for He-man class? what platform - bushmaster, DPMS, armalite? what accessories? what scope? lets make it a mid-level rifle, around $2000 or 2500 for everything.
