    skeet o/u

Sounds like a nice gun. Will last you as long as you want too.
  3. Voted. Not sure what extra variables there are.... Due to local limitations I have loaded with 4 different powders over the last 2 years. All were just fine.
  4. I find my RTS is brighter than my 3 sliderides (8, 8, and 12 moa).
  5. I built an open 9, researched mags to death and was all set to send then away to tune. Bought 140mm STI 38 mags and decided to try it 'as is' out of the packaging. A year later, 6 mags (need many in canada) the completely stock 38s mags work 100%. No spacer, no tuning, nothing. Never one mag related issue. I load to 1.170 oal.
  6. I tried both the Carver and the SJC 11port on the same gun... back and forth. I couldn't tell a difference. I'm not likely experienced enough to notice if there even was a difference.
  7. What are your thoughts on the 2 guns in terms of why they shoot and your preferences?
  8. I too appreciate these comments. cheers, J.

    Skeet first timer

    Did someone call me crazy???
  10. I was briefly confused too. figure I caught on now.
  11. I bought this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dillon-650XL-Deluxe-Spent-Primer-Catcher-Kit-All-Metal-/290996438161?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43c0bd4491#ht_256wt_1162 Maybe I should have tried being more creative first. At least it works.
  12. Nice looking shooter. I have a mill on the way and built mine too (friends mill). It runs but I am really i nterested in your finish? how did you do that?
  13. Lots'a crutches being used at the Olympics. But yes, you are right. If you are using a high rib gun and still holding a low barrel then it's nothing more than glitter in my opinion. But I've never used one so maybe i'm missing out
  14. my coment is redundant but I lowered the ejection port on my glock with a dremmel, problem solved for me.
  15. I am lucky i guess. I have spacers but have never put them in. My 9mm Runs 100% @ 1.165-1.170 in super mags.
  16. I had the same gun/comp I ended up loading 8.0gr of Silhouette with 124gr FMJ @ 1.155" PF was 173.
  17. I know it's been said but as a colour blind guy, I sure wish I could get green dot on my gun. Would jump at it if and when one was available. Very creative jid, I wish I had that kind of vision.
  18. Ditto. it allows you to hold a highter gun as you call for the target and look down and see teh target approaching below your POI. Otherwise teh barrels are in the way and you cannot see as well.
  19. Glad to hear you got it all sorted out. In case others are here looking for answers to hammer follow or issues with the new aluminum STI grip I will add my experience. I installed the STI aluminum one myself and quite like it . Very pleased! *Hammer follow, replaced sear spring with a new one and all fixed (left arm was bent and not enough pressure). * Grip, it seems the groove that holds the sear spring is slightly higher on my aluminum than it was on my polymer grip. I had to get a more current (newer) sear spring for the gun to operate as the old sear spring would touch the frame (above the trigger bow).
  20. I have limited experience with other comps but have been told my 9mm (full length, shoto comp, no holes) is 'flat' by by other more experience shooters. To me, the dot appears to sqiggle and I would rather see a vertical line. Probably have a bad grip or something. 8.2gr HS6 @ 1.17"
  21. just for further support, I have a new open gun... about 1000 round it also started following. Same fix... it seems the left side of the sear sping needed a bit more bend to push the sear. took me a couple tried to figure out the right place to bend but it runs perfect now.
  22. I am really color blind. I would love a color other than red. That is the worst for me. A red fiber optic on a front sight is invisible to me while a green rod looks like it is battery powered. I would love a green Cmore on my open gun. +1 what a difference eh? <-- note the Canadian finish to that comment.
  23. I'm glad I'm not the only one. Just built a 9mm open gun one and it's running very well with 124gr , 173 PF @ 1.18" and 137pf (re manufactured loads at stock oak) with no spring changes (9# recoil spring). zero doesn't change either.

    No Choke?

agreed, not a big deal, just make sure threads aren't too clogged with plastic. Whether or not you gain much over a cylinder or skeet choke? Dont' know, but it cant be a lot.

    OPEN GLOCKS

When I tried Silo, I had worked up a few loads to test. Todd K came out with his Chrono and I had a handfull left with 7.6 or 7.7 gr. they averaged >1400fps (174 pf) and todd tried them. He said it was pretty soft and like the appearance of the brass. If I could find Autocomp I would certainly try that but as you know HS-6 is readily available here.
