Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Is it OK to load a shell directly in the chamber and close the bolt (without a magazine inserted)? Will a full magazine then seat correctly?
  2. GSSF is a great way to start competition shooting due to the minimal equipment requirements and simple stages. It's how I got started in competition shooting (13 years ago!) and I still try to get to 1-2 matches a year. The only issue I've ever had is some very long wait times, so I'd recommend pre-registering for the match and shooting early Sunday morning, if possible. -Scott HTTP://TeamGreenbaum.com
  3. October 8-13, according to their Facebook page. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Events for 2013 at USA. Mark your calendars now!! January - 18-20 FL State USPSA Championship February - 14-17 Florida Open July 19-21 PRO AM July 25-28 Steel Challenge October 8-13 US IPSC Nationals November 1-3 The Monster Match December 14-15 NOK Down Steel --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  4. Another vote for Warren/Sevigny. I tried a fiber optic front for about 6 months, but ended up switching back to plain. I think I was trying to shoot it like a red dot instead of focusing on the front sight.

    Magwells

We use the Zev brass magwell on our G34 Gen 4 because it's the heaviest at 7.9 oz. The extra weight helps soak up recoil and my kids have an easier time shooting it. Caveat: we haven't tried any others...
  6. As I watched one of the finals today I was thinking the exact same thing: get rid of those boring events and bring on USPSA/IPSC!
  7. Same bag that Kyreb linked to, but filled with gear. . .
  8. I use a Husky tool bag as well. It has dozens of pockets for magazines...
  9. My boys (10 & 12) use a Smith & Wesson 22A, but it is difficult for them to rack the slide because the sights prevent an overhand grip. If I were to do it again I would look at the Mark III or something similar that has "wings" on the slide to provide a better grip.
  10. Special recognition for Juniors (and Pre-Teens!) is a great way to bring in new shooters and increase interest for families, and that's a great thing for shooting sports. My own kids would like to first win their age group and then beat the adults.
