  1. At 59 I tried shooting limited but found I could not see the sights well enough. Even with glasses to see the sights I found it to be very difficult. So I went back to shooting open class. I am not looking to win matches I just enjoy shooting and want to feel like I did the best I could. The challenge is doing the best you can with what you have to work with. We don't need another division. What would be next? Separate divisions for guns with 2 or 3 port comps or polymer frames vs steel? Shoot what you have in whatever division it fits and do the best you personally can. If you want to win save your money and get a division specific pistol and practice practice practice!
  2. It's always fun watching shooters new to a C-more doing the wrist swivel. It is just a matter of getting the muscle memory trained. Dry fire practice will help a lot.
  3. You don't always get the answers. A very bright old friend of mine once said something I have never forgotten. "I don't understand all that I know" Sometimes you just have to accept the results.
  4. I have been using the Taran Tactical basepads. They are quick to remove without any tools. I have had trouble with the dovetail detent in the Dawson pads getting stuck with the desert dust here in AZ.
  5. Got it back from C-More. They could not duplicate the problem but completely replaced the electronics anyway. Its working great now. That's good customer service! They could have easily just sent it back to me and said no problem found.
  6. I am looking to replace an old C-more polymer slideride. It has cracked the body at the lock screw for the windage adjustment. This is not the first one I've had do this. I am thinking about switching to an aluminum one but don't have any experience with one. I know they are a little heavier. Will it be ok on an Allchin mount or should I get a different mount as well? Any troubles with the aluminum ones? If you use one how do you like it? Thanks, Cavy
  7. I have been using Dillon reloading presses for 25 years. They have always stood behind their products and gone the extra mile to help me if I needed it. Dillon is a top tier company and has earned my loyalty.
  8. Shooting is like an addiction. The more you do it the more you want to do it. And the better you get at it the more you think about how you can get even better at it. The best part is its totally legal!
  9. I have run an aftec extractor for 10 years without a failure. the only maintainence is periodic removal and cleaning.
  10. Great job! It is very addictive isn't it. This sport needs more female shooters. Get some of your friends to come and shoot also.
  11. 4.8gr N320 behind Montana Gold 180gr JHP @1.200" in my STI Edge works great. 169 P/F
  12. Thanks for the replies, After quite a bit of testing I have to say all of the 4 powders I have been playing with are plenty acceptable. I have finally settled on 3N38 as the winner. It came down to a virtual tie between N105 and 3N38. I went with 3N38 due to availability in 4lb. jugs which I can get locally. My final load is 10.8 3N38, 115 MG JHP, Starline 38SC brass, Fed 205 primers, 1.240" OAL. 174-176 P/F. Shoots very flat with acceptable rudeness. (RO's may not agree)
  13. yes, only the plug is different. However the bull barrel rods use a disassembly tool (paper clip) That requires a small hole be drilled through the rod.
  14. I am shooting open in 38sc using 115 MG jhp's. out of a 5.5" STI 3 port comp, 3 popple holes. Have been trying different powders. N105,3N38, N350, SR7625, all are good but different. Was just wondering what power factor you guys load to? Seems the hotter the better the comp works. But where do most of you guys stop? 170, 175,180? Just wondering.
  15. Welcome aboard! Most competitors reload to cut cost and improve quality. I find it to be very satisfying. There is a ton of great info here.
  16. I am running 8.0 of 7625 in SC with a 115 MG JHP at 1.240 no problems.
  17. I had pressure signs in 9mm using 115 gr bullets but it works great in 38 super minor.
  18. Another powder to try is IMR SR 7625. I run 8.0gr with a 115 MG JHP. Works great and is very clean.
  19. I still use one of those. Have transferred it from gun to gun 3 times. I love it!
  20. Shot the speaker out of my wife's car unloading a 9mm. It can happen. That's why you can never be too careful! Glad nobody was hurt. Thanks for the heads up.
  21. Just put the same setup on my STI. Got about 500rds through it. Dot is changing brightness while shooting even with switch in manual position. Called C-MORE and sent it back for "evaluation". Hope to have it back in a couple days. I like it and hope they can correct the issue. Cheely mount is great. Very well done!
  22. I have found this to be true also. I think it has to do with the pressure and heat created by the hotter load. Slower powders need more pressure/heat to burn completely. Plus it usually helps the comp work better!
  23. just ordered a case of 115 JHP's. in stock this morning.
  24. The word you are looking for is "Snarky"
  25. Thanks for the replies. I am going to try one. I figure if I don't like it, I'll put it on my AR as a secondary sight.
