Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Xtreme 165, 2.8 grs VV N320, WSPP, 1.15 OAL, 130pf
  2. Anyone notice a significant difference in 147s knocking down / moving steel better? I have shot a-lot of 9 and haven't seen the difference myself, just curious if anyone else has. I think the only time I have seen it possibly help is on an MGM Spinner....
  3. "The civil attorneys I am sure will spin it like this: the defendant could have remained in his home on the phone and provided a good description of perpetrators, their vehicle and direction of travel. He put himself in the line of danger by proceeding outside of his home." My wife manages a retail store that was sholifted by illegals (most likely) and also witnessed another individual (most likely an illegal) break into a car and steal a bag only a few weeks later. During the first incident, when she went to get the vehicle desripciton and plate number they tried to run her over. (It was a CA Plate, we live in Utah, apparently, there are several professional shoplifting rings that travel the I-15 corridor stealing large amounts of merchandise and then export it through AZ/CA.) In both instances, she got DESCRIPTIONS and Vehicle PLATE #s. In both cases, the local police (Layton PD) took several HOURS to respond. Additionally, no action has been taken in either event that we are aware of. The police never followed up with us or communicated that what she did made a difference. In addition, the night my wife was nearly run over and robbed, the police officer taking her report said, "If there was no crime, I wouldn't have a job." I am in the National Guard, and I can state that if there were no more wars and I was put out of a job I would be very happy, especially for the sake of my children. Anyways, the bottom line is I am less and less convinced the police can resopond in a manner which they can effect a difference to an ongoing event. However, just getting a description and plate number most likely will result in nothing and I think the bad guys know it which only emboldens them. Maybe it's the lack of police in quantity or maybe its because there have been so few real consequences for criminals..... until now..... As far as civil court goes, I think it would be great if Mr. Horn could sue the families of the deceased for the cost of the shells.... that would send a message.....
  4. I have one too and I absolutely love it.
  5. I have shot a lot of TAC and 55 FMJ and I get decent results. However, they are not stellar, about 2in (100yds) is the average overall, and I have tried just about every 55 FMJ as well as a experimenting with a LEE FCD to see if that helped bring it down to about 1 in, but no luck. The rifle does shoot 55 V-max with TAC very well though, less than 1 in, I had one group at about .33 in. I started playing with TAC because it is really cheap and seems like a decent powder, but I think it may be a tad slow for the 55 FMJ. I am going to test some loads with AA2230 and WW 748 this weekend, both with the same 55 FMJ. I typically use the winchester variety of bulk bullets. I am also trying to find that one ball powder that will work with both the 223 55 FMJ and the 308 147 FMJ for my bulk reloading on a Dillon 550, same as you. A-lot of the research I have done is pointing toward the WW 748, but it's also more expensive than the TAC.
  6. I plan on being there this year, I am very much looking forward to it although I am a little new to 3 gun. Does anyone plan on shooting the DPMS / Leupold Heavy Metal? I am considering it although it will be quite a bit more expensive to shoot 308 than 223, especially considering losing all that brass....
  7. Any more news on the Leupold? I am considering one of these as well as the IOR 1.1-4 or maybe the IOR 1.5-8. I would prefer something American made, but the IORs seem like they are well built and have very good features to boot. Right now I have the simmons 1.5-5 pro diamond. Decent scope. would rather have somethign a little better. I have been reading negative comments about the Leupold having less light transmission and smaller FOV than the IORs I am primarily looking at a good scope for 3 gun, but want something durable as well, decent chance I could deploy overseas in the next few years.... Thanks
  8. Thanks flexmoney, I was also thinking about addressing some technique issues, I know I have a few I am working on. I came up with the 180gr and TG load after reviewing this forum and like it a-lot because of its cost effectiveness. I have seen mixed feedback on the recoilmaster and was thinking about experimenting with a regular guiderod and spring. I had good luck with American Select and a 185gr lasercast, but I am trying to get away from cast bullets.
  9. I recently was recently shooting a local steel match with .40 180gr loads with 4.6grs of Titegroup and a zero 180gr jhp. One particular target was a steel silhouette at about 15-20 yrds where I noticed smoe quirks about these loads. They the seemed to pull off of target quite a bit and it seemed like a chore getting the sights to line back up. They felt sluggish and heavy recoiling. I am shooting an STI Edge with a recoilmaster, everything is stock, just like it came form the factory. Anyone run into anything similar with a load like this? Maybe it's technique. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on maybe a lighter bullet or different powder? Maybe a regular reverse pulg and spring or lightened mainspring? just looking for a little advice. I was considering having the slide lightened, but I am also wondering if that is necessary. Thanks!
  10. I found the 2 gun game at the NY NY casino in vegas and played it a month or so ago while I was on a layover. Can't get enough of it, the taxi from the airport cost me $20, but what else was I going to do with 5 hours of time to kill.....
  11. Here's a sub 3 El Pres... sub 3 el pres
  12. There is a company in Utah that offers 10mm Once Fired, it is CENTER STREET BRASS at http://www.csbrass.com/ It isn't too cheap though, $60 per thousand, $50 more per thousand than 40 S&W, but it about the only place online that I have seen that sells once fired 10mm.
  13. Interesting that the new PF at 320 allows the factory 6.8mm REM SPC to make major, wonder if a lot of ARs will start to show in 3 gun mathces in this caliber... Some of the 6.5 Grendel loads make it too...
  14. Well, I have nothing but good things to say about PSI, at least when Steve was working there. He took my order, I got it quick. On one order, the US post office sorting machine tore the envelop open and the part fell out. My fault, I should have bought insurance or worked the claim through the post office. Steve, however, made the situation right by giving me credit on my next purchase. Always Excellent customer service.... So, CHICO 1911, your dealing is definitely the exception and I wouldn't doubt that there were extenuating circumstances involved, but I guess Steve has moved on from PSI and, not even sure if they are still in business....
