  1. So IPSC doesn't have unloaded starts? (not trying to be a smartass, just wondering ) I believe that's one of the reasons that USPSA doesn't include the "load and" part. The January 2015 IPSC Handgun Comepetition Rules states: 8.3.1 "Load And Make Ready" (or "Make Ready" for starts with an unloaded firearm) – This command signifies the start of "the Course of Fire". Under the direct supervision of the Range Officer the competitor must face downrange, or in a safe direction as specified by the Range Officer, fit eye and ear protection, and prepare the firearm in accordance with the written stage briefing. The competitor must then assume the required start position. At this point, the Range Officer will proceed.
  2. ATTENTION: After receiving many reports of concerns, I feel it is necessary to attempt to clarify the cancellation announcement made yesterday. The Section Match for the Texas South Section of USPSA is called “The Space City Challenge.” This is the match that has been cancelled until further notice. There is a match that is scheduled to take place on April, 4, 2015 that uses the name “Space City,” but it is NOT the Section match for the Texas South Section. This match is NOT the match that is the subject of the cancellation notice. I understand that the match organizers have chosen to use the same logo that was used for the 2014 Space City Challenge as well as the logo for the Texas South Section; however, this match is NOT the Section Match. Finally, I understand that a match organizer has offered to issue refunds to those shooters who registered for the April 4, 2015 match thinking that it was the Section Match for the Texas South Section. I hope this clarifies the confusion caused by using the name “Space City.” Please remember to be safe, and have fun. Thank you, Danny R. Garza, Section Coordinator USPSA Texas South Section USPSA #A75480 14819 Mesita Drive Houston, TX 77083
  3. After toying around with the "X-Treme" .40 caliber 180 grain RNFP bullets, I found that my new (factory original) "Glock" model 35Gen4 pistola absolutely loves them when I load them with 4.8 grains of "Hodgdon CFE Pistol." The cartridge overall length is 1.130 inches, and I am using "Winchester" small pistol primers. I am shooting in the "production" division in "USPSA, " and these loads consistently make minimum power factor. I have chronographed them, and the lowest velocity I recorded was 693 fps, but the average velocity is over 700 fps. Recoil is super-soft! This load consistently knocks down poppers and other steel targets. Finally, the accuracy is consistently superb!
  4. What's the scoop regarding Range Officials? Is there a web link for volunteers to follow?
  5. I offer my most sincere condolences to Mr. Riera's family and friends.
  6. I have been searching for people who would be interested in attending a CRO class. You should have an easier time finding enough people to put together an RO class.
  7. The poll options wrongfully imply that a "CEO" cannot be held "accountable."
  8. I was just made aware of this match that will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Creekwood Shooting Sports in Conroe, Texas. To sign up or for more information, contact m3outreach@yahoo.com or (936) 537-0870. I understand that the charity was created by a thirteen year-old young man who cares so much about our men and women who have served and who are serving in the military. http://www.yourhoustonnews.com/courier/living/montgomery-teen-starts-military-ministry/article_284275ef-d47a-51b9-8d28-60ab783e1179.html Publication5.pdf
  9. When RO's try to make up rules, I tell them to show me the rule they are trying to leverage in the rule book. When they can't produce the written rule, because it doesn't exist, I tell them to start using the rules as defined. That interaction usually does not make people happy, but its required to point out the fact that we can't simply make up rules that do not exist.
  10. The gate to the range will be open at 09:00 on Wednesday. I have also been asked to ask you to bring a stapler and a timer if you have these items. Thank you so very much!
  11. As far as I know, the platform will be floating on the water, but it will be tethered as it was last year. The shooter will move around a little when he or she moves while shooting.
  12. You have my contact information, Sir. I have included the Texas Riviera on my calendar.
  13. Upon further review, the RO could see that it was a 10.4.3 and/or 10.4.6 "accidental discharge" as the shooter experienced a malfunction because he was not gripping the handgun to fire it but holding the handgun to reload it instead.
  14. According to the video, that definitely looked like a negligent discharge and grounds for a disqualification.
  15. Piece of crap "IPhone" screwed up my reply. Now, which squad are you going to be on, Mr. Cobb?'
