  1. Developing a .45 ACP Major PF load using Berry's 230gr TMJ-RN bullets. Trying to keep the PF right at 168 out of a 5" barrel. Currently use Titegroup for 9mm and .40, but was wondering if others found a softer shooting/less smoky powder for .45.
  2. Does anyone know if it is production legal to put a Glockmeister grip plug in the magwell? I am looking at production rule 22.3 and I think it's legal as long as the plug doesn't extend past the bottom of the grip (Which the Glockmeister doesn't). If anyone has personal experience or is a NROI certified RO I would love a clarification. From rule book: External plugs (such as Seattle Slug): Remains in effect – external plugs which alter the grip profile or extend past the bottom of the grip are PROHIBITED.
  3. Does anyone know of a good company that can make custom team shooting shirts? We started a new USPSA club and I am looking to get some shirts made for our members. I looked on Double Alpha Academy and they make custom shirts but they don't allow you to take off the huge AA logo on the front and back. I haven't had much luck finding anything else. Any help would be much appreciated.
  4. You can shoot it either Saturday or Sunday. So you could potentially still shoot your club match if you wanted to. You can go to matchsignup.org to sign up.
  5. The Swamp Shoot hosted by the Gainesville Target Range is a USPSA handgun match. This will be an 8 stage, 250 round match with cash payouts for the winners of each division and awards for top shooters in each division and class. This match is designed to be both technically and tactically difficult. So in other words it will be a fun match with a whole lot of bragging rights on the line. MATCH UPDATE: The Swamp Shoot will now be held on December 8th and 9th due to a scheduling conflict with another match. You can go to matchsignup.org to register!
  6. I just received the dry fire kit in the mail! The target look great and I can't wait to start practicing with them. Thanks for the help!
  7. Thanks! I will try increasing the pressure equally and see what that gets me. I do agree with the philosophy of applying common techniques to your grip and letting your body figure out what works for it.
  8. Low left shots for a right-handed shooter is a sign of classic trigger jerk. If you think about the mechanics of your finger it naturally wants to move in an arch. If you "slap" or "mash" the trigger without focusing on pulling it straight to the rear you will have a much higher chance of pushing the muzzle down and to the left. That being said, it could be also be a number of different things. My suggestion would be to focus all your attention on pressing the trigger straight to the rear and making sure that your finger finishes flat on the trigger when the shot breaks. If that does not remedy the problem, then experiment with your grip and how you are applying pressure. I am a left-handed shooter, and when I start speeding up my shots I notice that I will push a shot here and there slightly low and to the right. After I throw a shot I take a deep breath and concentrate more on my trigger control and surprise surprise it drills it dead center. Good luck!
  9. I am always finding my front sight no matter where the target is, but depending on how far out or difficult the target is my focus will change. For very close targets (<3yd) I will pull the trigger the instant my front sight comes into view in the rear sight. I don't look for perfect sight alignment or a clear front sight. I have a soft focus on the front sight and my mental focus is taking in more of the big picture rather than just tracking the front sight. The farther out/more difficult the shot is the more focused I become on my sights, how they are aligned, how I am manipulating the trigger, etc.
  10. Lately I have been experimenting with how I apply pressure to the pistol. I have tried death gripping the gun, a neutral (handshake) grip, and what some call the 60%/40% or 70%/30% grip where you bear down with your support hand more than your shooting hand. Right now I am use a neutral grip where I squeeze equally with both hands with as much pressure as I would shake someone's hand. I find I am consistent with this grip, but I have noticed is that it is slightly more difficult to be dexterous with my trigger finger as opposed to the 70/30 grip. I am curious what other shooters are using, and if they have tried multiple ways to apply pressure which do they prefer. I was also curious if anyone had insight into what the top shooters are using. I know there will probably be a good variety, but there has to be some common styles.
  11. I shot this one Production. I did it in 9.64 with all Alphas for a HF of 10.3734. A lot of people went over the round count when I shot it. The name says it all
  12. Have you played around with that load at all? With good bullets, Titegroup is very capable of producing much better accuracy than what you are obtaining. When I used to shoot 147gr bullets I had really good results (accuracy-wise) by loading with 3.6gr of Solo 1000 but, when I switched to 124gr bullets, the accuracy was not as good and that is when I began using Titegroup. I also played around with VV N320 but the accuracy was never as good as what I can achieve with TG. Yes, I have tried charges from 4.0gr and 4.6gr for a 115gr bullet. I have also experimented with different OALs and crimps. I will get slightly better results with certain powder and OAL combos, but nothing dramatic. The only thing I don't have a lot of data on is bullets. I have only been using Rainier 115gr RN. I hope that when I change the bullet I will get better results.
  13. Has anyone heard of/bought any reduced size targets from C&M Targets? They look legit, but I wanted to know what people thought of them. Also, if there is any other places to buy reduced size targets please let me know. I think the reduced size targets are a great idea for indoor dry fire practice. Especially if you live in an apartment. The C&M website says if you put their target at 5 yards it simulates a target at 20 yards.
  14. What types of groups are you getting from HP-38? I am managing an average of 5'' to 6'' groups from a rest at 25 yards with TiteGroup.
  15. I was wondering what powders people are using with a 147gr 9mm loaded for Minor PF. I have been using TiteGroup and I like it, but I'm curious if anyone is getting good results with something else. How much of a charge you have to use or how "snappy" the powder is does not concern me. Consistency and tight grouping is what I'm after.
