Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Was anyone able to confirm whether or not the CZ P01 Omega fit the CCP box? If so do you have to do any mods to make it fit?
  2. I would like to find out how my skill and time measure against others with this drill. The drill: Pick a target about 7 yards away. Stand hands surrendered, draw and fire at the target. Do a mag change and fire and the same target, do another mag change and fire again at the target. Don't cheat yourself. Make sure your grip is perfect, make sure you see your front sight perfectly when firing. So no speedy short cuts. I'm down to 4,2sec par time. You must be able to do it 3 times in a row to count. Please share your times if you guys are keen.
  3. I was able to track my front sight for the first time today. I was at the range to chrony some ammo and took a few quick shots at a target after. I really concentrated on my weak hand grip and torquing my wrist forward and then, while firing the shots I could see my front sight lift in recoil. It tracked up and a little to the right and returned right back to target. I shot 5 shots at about 7 meters all the holes touching basically making 1 big hole in the target. Is it "normal" to recoil up and little to the right? It did return right back to my original POA though.
  4. I have recently bought a pair of Peltors electronic muffs. Before I used a cheap pair of electronic muffs. I couldn't wear those for more than 10 mins at a time or I would get a massive headache and have to switch back to the plugs. I did a 2 x day shotgun shoot and wore the peltors both days for basically the whole day. They are very comfy and the compression makes a huge difference compared to the clipping. The seal around my ears even with my glasses was just perfect. I didn't have any ringing in my ears like I usually do with plugs or the cheap muffs after shotguns or rifle shoots.
  5. I'm using a Remington 1187 Premier for IPSC 3 gun. I want to start using the load two method and the problem is when loading the first two is fine. After that the mag spring gets tension and I struggle loading smoothly. I noticed the loading gate (at the tube side) is very square and that is where my shells get stuck and I have to really press the second round down in an awkward way. Will it help if I a dremmel the bottom piece of that square part more like a chute/funnel into the mag tube? (if that makes any sense) Anyone ever done that?
  6. Thanks for the advise. There is two ports on top, but not in a row at 12 o'clock. They are next to each other at about 12:30 and 11:30. If that makes sense. So I would have to tap both to even it up. Had someone else much better than me shoot it and he also said it overcompensate a little. I did replace my carbine buffer with a H2 buffer. It felt a bit harsh(snappy) on cycling and the H2 does make it feel a lot better. But if putting the carbine buffer back to cure the problem, I will. I will play around with the buffers before drilling or tapping the comp.
  7. I fitted a DD muzzle climb mitigator to my 14.5" middy. Now it over-compensate just a very little bit. By that I mean when shooting at the center on the A zone on an IPSC target it dip to about the bottom line of the A-Zone at about 20yards. I was considering closing the holes on top and then I got some advice from people at the range to rotate the comp to about 2 o'clock. Will this work? And if so will Locktite keep it in place? Any one had this problem and any advice? And getting another comp is very difficult here in South Africa. I would love a Miculek comp but they are VERY scarce here.
  8. This might be a weird problem but... I sometimes lose my cheek weld(cheek position) on my shotgun during recoil. It feels like in recoil my head bumps up off the stock and I lose my head/cheek position on the gun and have to "find/re-position" my cheek weld to find my sight again. Makes sense? Any tips or advise? I do try to lean into the gun more and bend my knees (aggressive stance)a bit.
  9. I have a Leupold vari-x iii 1.5-5x20mm that I use to run on my FN FAL. Now I need to decide weather I want to run it on my AR 15 for 3 gun in IPSC with an offset red dot/reflex or do I buy another scope like the Burris Tac30. (reason being I'm on a budget) Do I spend more or less the same amount on a burris tac30 and leave the Leupold on the FAL or use the leupold and buy a mini red dot (Burris Fastfire) as a 45 deg offset? Another options I thought of was buying a Bushnell trs-25 also for offset mount and as a stand alone red dot if I feel like just using a red dot. But will it be to heavy for offset mount with the leupold? Any opinions or advise?
  10. I would like to find out if extended/oversized slide stop and extended/oversized mag release are legal in IPSC classic division.
  11. I've worked on my trigger control a bit since the first post and found that I should "grip" the gun more with my left hand and use my right hand just to pull the trigger. Trying to keep my right hand as still as possible and really concentrate on moving just the parts of my trigger finger(and only enough to break the trigger) that is necessary to break the shot off. Now I have to work on this for faster follow up shots. Shooting slow groupings is fine but when I speed up I tend to go back to bad muscle memory. I want to try and get as much trigger time as possible to build up better muscle memory.
  12. Went to the range today to start working on calling my shots. I set a few targets including picnic paper plates up at about 20-25m. To warm up I tried to shoot groupings on the plates. First 5 shots: 2 hit high and 3 completely missed(on the plate). Tried shooting groups on the ipsc target and again shot almost all high and very random grouping all over the target. I really focused on the front sight and tried to watch it as it started lifting in recoil to try and call where the shot was going to hit but just couldn't. My finger placement on the trigger was in the middle of the meaty part of my index finger. (About where the nail start on the other side if that makes sense). I then moved it into the bent of my first knuckle and all of a sudden I was shooting (hand)palm sized groupings about an inch above POA at the same distance. I then lowered my front sight post into the rear sight notch to where the fibre optic dot is just completely visible and it (the front sight dot) was right about on POI. So now next range session will be to try and call the shots and try to speed up follow up shots. Anyone have any advise or drills to try out regarding this?
  13. Welcome, what part of S.africa your from? Thank you. I'm from the north of South Africa(in the bush veld.lol). Limpopo province.
  14. Hi there. I'm from South Africa. Shooting IPSC production division with S&W M&P9. Waiting for License applications (which is a Nightmare and takes long here) so that I can start doing 3 gun shoots. I love the sport. Been shooting for a little more than a year now. I've been checking this site out for a while and decided to register. Already found lots of helpful tips and advice.
