  1. Pilots have a very similar saying. There are those who have landed with the gear up, and those that will. Well I never landed gear up, and I retired a year ago last September. I don't plan to fly anymore, so that didn't hold true for me. Hopefully I will be able to say the same thing about being DQ'd when I retire from shooting USPSA. Jim
  2. Thank you all for your welcome messages and nice comments. It does shoot great. I have put at least 2000 rounds through it now, and it functions perfectly. Bobby Carver really knows how to build a glock open gun. Jim
  3. My gun is set up so when I rack the live round out, it rattles around in the mag well and falls out into my waiting left hand that I have had time to move from the slide racker to under the mag well. Jim
  4. Cherokee Gun Club in Georgia. 7/14/12 Super senior, unclassified, open major. Glock 17 built by Bobby Carver. Match points 46 out of 46 possible. 12 rounds. 4 alphas, 5 charlies, 3 deltas Stage points 25.7416. Hit factor 3.9316. Time 11.70. I was not very accurate, but at least I was slow also.
  5. Shot at Cherokee Gun Club in Georgia on 7/14/12. I am a super senior, unclassified. I shot open major. I have a Glock 17 built by Bobby Carver. Total points 94. Stage points 61.3930. Hit factor 3.6791. Time 25.55. 20 shots total. 14 Alphas 6 Charlies. As slow as I was, I should have had more alphas.
  6. NOTE: MERGED THREADS. - ADMIN. Got three of the things I love on one picture. My wife, my dog, and my Harley. In that order.
  7. This is my Bobby Carver open Glock. I have shot 4 or 5 matches with it so far, and it has functioned perfectly. It is a real pleasure to shoot. Jim
  8. I have a c-more with 8 moa. I use it for both USPSA and steel and I wouldn't want it any smaller or dimmer. Jim
  9. That gun looks identical to a 34 open I built a while back and sold. Mine is a 17 and was built by Bobby Carver about a month ago. Jim
  10. Hey Mat, We have similar taste in colors anyway.
  11. It's nice to see someone else has something nice to say about the Taurus 1911. But to call it ugly!!! Really! Anyway, I have shot hundreds of rounds through mine which I have had for several years. I shoot my reloads, and I have never had a problem of any kind. No FTFs, stovepipes, FTEs or any other failures. Plus, I love all of the extra features that would probably cost $1000 if added to any other stock 1911, and the Taurus only cost me about $600. Jim
  12. Here is a picture of my open Glock with a thumbrest by Bobby Carver. Jim
  13. Here is a picture of my Bobby Carver thumbrest. The same as Superduper's, just a better color.
  14. It is way to slow for 9mm. Sell it and buy something else. Ok Thanks, I'll just use it to load something else. Jim
  15. Sent my SDB into them because there was a small crack in the frame. I also ordered new dies and tool head for 9mm which I have started loading. They returned the loader promptly all set up for 9mm and had replaced several parts with brand new ones. The powder measure was even set to throw the exact charge I was going to load for 9mm major. Don't know how they did that. Of course, the only charge was for the new dies and tool head that I ordered. Dillon is the only reloading equipment I would ever buy for rifle or pistol. Jim
  16. I have a Taurus 1911. It has upgrades as standard that would cost probably at least $1000 to have done to a stock 1911. The gun cost me about $650 brand new a few years ago. It has functioned perfectly with whatever reloads I have fed it. It has never had a failure of any kind. It's accuracy is very good also. I don't think you could beat this 1911, especially if you consider the price. Jim
  17. Welcome to a great sport. You will not find a friendlier bunch of people. I just started myself, and decided to do the open class so I can't answer your question about grip tape in production. I am sure however the answer will be here soon from someone more knowledgeable. Jim
  18. The older I get the harder that position is to achieve. Are you guys back to talking about starting naked again???
  19. My new open gun came today from Bobby Carver. I plan to do some reloading tomorrow and shoot it a bit before the match on Saturday. Can't wait. Here are some pictures. Jim
  20. It supposed to be shipped today, and my FFL should receive it tomorrow. This is like Christmas eve. Jim
  21. Yeah!!! I just started out also. This is so much fun, but it makes me sad to think I am 67 years old and could have been doing this a long time ago if I had known how much fun it was. Also, the people involved in it are some of the best you will find anywhere. Jim
  22. Thank you. You have just justified my existance.
  23. I got the red trimmed cr belt with blue mag holders. The cr holster is black because I would have had to wait awhile for another color. Jim
  24. Thanks for the offer Rick, but I chose the red c-more because I wanted it to look colorful. I am just starting out in this so I don't have any extra c-mores laying around. I am really excited about the new gun which should be here next Tuesday. It's like I have always said, if you can't shoot good, at least look good. It is a pretty neat looking gun, don't you think? Jim
