  1. I had the lee loadmaster. Now a Dillon 550. I'll never go back again
  2. I load 44mag on mine and don't have problems
  3. I did polish the powder hopper and sliders. Bought the roller handle and led from inlinefabrication. And bought the spent primer catch from ebay.
  4. Midway has 55gr nosler ballistic tips for $45 per 250
  5. I full length size to start then neck size after 1st shots. I use the rcbs precision mic set for 223 and 308. I also have the lyman case prep center and redding case trimmer. I also have the hornady bullet attachment for my caliper. It measures from the ogive for bullet jump. Then I take my time. Heck I even load on my 550 but size using a single stage.
  6. I know people have had problems with Varget. I just started to load 223 on my 550. I was worried but cleaned the powder die then used graphite powder with qtip. I drop 24.5 gr and havent had any problems.
  7. Plastic from gallon milk jugs would work very well
  8. Ive used lee customer service before but used the phone. I'll be honest here they do have good phone service. I did own a loadmaster but gave up on it and went Dillon. I've never been happier. Yes it may cost more upfront but it works.
  9. I neck size only since its in a bolt gun. Then full length size when the brass chambers too tight. I bought the plain Redding 3 die set and works great. Also have the RCBS micrometer too.
  10. Alaskapopo- I'd like to load 308 on my 550 also. What do you get for OAL variation? Does it change because of the floating toolhead?
  11. Anyone use this powder with good results? It's the only thing Scheels had. It'll be used with 178gr Hornady Match bullets. I'd use Varget but everyone local is out.
  12. I see why you guys like WST. On the b urn rate chart it sits below Trail Boss.
  13. Is WST temperature insensitive? Is case position insensitive like titegroup?
  14. Could you use wst for 40 and 45?
  15. I had a loadmaster. I watched all the videos and searched all the forums for help. I just got sick and tired of all the constant tinkering. Yes Dillon cost more but I dont tinker and it works like it should.
  16. Sell the boat anchor and buy another dillon. It was the best thing I could've done.
  17. I tried 7gr of 800x and it was alittle to slow. Recoil was nice and soft though. I may have to try WST sometime. I also shoot 40 and 45.
  18. Has anyone ever tried to automate the shellplate on the 550? Maybe something as simple as an add-on to the handle? You could take it off when you would'nt want it or clamp it on when needed. Just a thought......
  19. 800x isnt bad just really dirty
  20. Woops. I use lead bullets, 250gr. 800x is good but extremely dirty.
