Got this email this afternoon: Western States Single Stack Championship 2020Due to unforeseen circumstances, the WSSSC match has been canceled. We appreciate everyone who has supported the match during its great run. There is this on the PS page: Registration to the match is now on hold as we are awaiting direction from the Rio Salado Board of Directors. We expect their issues to be resolved in a few days.

Dunno any specifics but there is some ongoing drama at Rio Salado. All I know for sure is that I am registered, I have paid and am squadded. PS says registration (re)opens in 16 hours from now.

The coldest match I ever shot was the 09 WSSSC. It started drizzling Saturday morning and finally turned to snow on Sunday.

I have seen folks get procedurals and even DQ'ed for doing stuff at majors that they do at home because "it's only a local match". If the "local" match is not that important, then a learning opportunity such as the OP described is golden. YMMV

Hopefully we will get an update from HQ. Pure speculation but knowing how they do majors there and how there is no Chrono time slot my guess is that you shoot stage 12 and then go to chrono in Bay 11. Chrono is usually located in that bay.

It would be fun to see what everybody does but if the all the targets were 1/2 USPSA targets, it's an illegal stage!

Have a little patience here folks. There is another level of "approval" that has come into play recently. Due to some issues with community relations, they are being extra careful in terms of target placement and shot lines. In other words, they have to have the stage completely laid down before it will pass scrutiny. This all started earlier this year and it was determined that the final solution is to turn all the bays that face the "wrong" way the right way. The negotiations for this have been ongoing and I think it was determined that it would not be feasible to complete before the scheduled match. Digging a hole in the desert isn't as simple as it used to be. And, since the staff for this match is scattered all over the country, getting them physically on the range much in advance of the match ain't gonna happen. I guess they could of published very inaccurate diagrams but people would complain about that also. Ideal situation? Nope but this is what we have been given. SUPS does a good job and will for this, even if this isn't "their" match. Peace, Chuck PS: See you this weekend, Mark!
