Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. For anyone interested there is a company called Surface Prep Supply. I live in the Jacksonville, Florida area and we have a location here so no shipping involved. They have 50lb bags of Walnut for $30 and Corn Cob for either $20 or $22. The manager said they sell a lot to re-loaders. If anyone has one local that is a good place to buy.
  2. Thanks to everyone for the help. Sounds like there are different variations being used that all seem to work for someone. I am guessing that some of it depends on the effort level you want to go to and how shiny you want the finished product.
  3. Reshoot, I did not take a picture but mine was not that bad. Embarrassing, but not that bad. I actually hit the back left rod about half way up.
  4. I have a Dillon 550B and have loaded for 9mm, 40, and 45 ACP. I now have about half a 5 gallon bucket of brass of each so it is time to get off the ole behind and start cleaning brass for the first time. I have read every post I can pull up about the media and what everyone uses. My question is about a comment BE made that he recommended using a larger grit Corn Cob Media without walnut. I have a chance to buy at a local industrial store Walnut and Corn Cob in 50 lb. bags. They only stock Walnut in 12/20 and 20/30 for $30 for 50 lbs. They stock Corn Cob in 12/20 and 20/40 for $20. They can order other sizes but you have to buy a pallet. I plan on using it with the NuFinish which I have a case of so may as well use it. My question to BE when he said he would use a large grit corn cob what is considered a large grit? Out of what I can get locally what are the better sizes to buy? I know everyone say the Walnut creates dust. The Corn Cob (Small size) gets in the holes. I would like opinions before I buy but I would like BR to expand on his recommendation. One media or both and what size. Any help is appreciated. This will be used in a Dillon Vibratory machine and Dillon Tumbler. Thanks Ted
  5. Penquin, I promised to build a bench that looked like it belonged with the tall cabinet she already had in the room. It was an antique from her mother. I then promised to keep everything on the bottom or top of the bech or in the cabinet or the one closet. We have a keyboard on the far wall she uses and our grand daughter uses. So I had to promise not to leave stuff on the floor, vacuum with a handheld unit for powder after I reload and put a pushbutton lock on the closet as well as locks on the cabinet. She finally agreed. Sounds like a lot but well worth being in the house in the air conditioner. Here is a finished product.
  6. My wife finally gave in and allowed me a portion of a spare room instead of the garage. I just finished building a bench last night. We have two closets in this room so I am taking the shelves in the back of one for equipment. I have my new bench plus a piece of furniture next to the bench. I already put a electronic lock on the closet since that is where my gun bags are. I still have to mount locks on the cabinet next to the bench. I just took delivery of a new Dillon 550 that I will be mounting this weekend. Here are pictures I took with my cell phone last night so quality is not perfect. The bottom shelf is supported underneath so it can hold the canisters of brass and bullets. Also the powder will be going in the cabinet once I get the locks on this weekend in order to separate it from the primers.
  7. Welcome from Florida. Just got my 550.

  9. Welcome from almost a neighbor. St. Augustine.
  10. Thanks for the welcome. I have been lurking awhile to gain knowledge. My best friend has used a 550 for many years so it was an easy decision.
  11. Welcome from a newbie in Florida.
  12. Welcome from Northeast Florida.
