Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. M2 and never look back i have the 21" with 10 shells Nordic ext about 2.5" longer than the barrel using Briley extended LM works great
  2. You are correct this taperware stock will flex especially when you preload it on the bipod. Few tricks on YouTube and Savge shooters forum on how to strengthen Using carbon arrow shafts and like JB weld but as I mentioned above for under $150 you can get great and solid laminated wood stock. Look at Boyd's. You will be very happy with you new rifle savage is great shooter. tonight I recived my new 260 rem 28" bull barrel from CBI to replce my 308 win barrel no gunsmithing needed drop in. Nothing wrong with my 308 have few thousands round througt but I always want to play with 260 exlent performance to past 1500 yard using the new 140 ELD X from hornady and H4350. Enjoy your new toy long range shooting just like golf but for men no offence all.
  3. Congrat on the rifle good call on the model 12 I advised 3 of my friends to get the Cabela exclusive model 12 they all got the 308 also the got the SWFA super sniper scope like $299 the rifle shot bug holes at 100 with the 175 gr SMK hand load they dod great at the 1000 yard. You mentioned that you don't reload. You might want to look at the Fedral gold match ammo 175 gr which is the Serria SMK bulets. But if yonly shooting up to 800 yard you can use the same in 168 gr will do the job fine slight easer on the pocket. Also you mentioned that the stock is not you favorite look for Boyd stock the have the tactical model comes in many flavored I mean wood color we all using them the price is very good you might have to pillar bed it which very easy. Take some time and look at Savage Shooters forum great forum for the Savage rifles. And as mentioned look at Sniper hide too.
  4. Same for me I been using lee dies in 40s&w before I got my XL650 and as now been using them in my XL650 for awhile with no issue at all. If I recall on lee sizing die I had to use the locking ring on the under side of the die plate to get it setup to we're it needed. I load for my STI and Glock. By the way I use all range mixed head stamp brass. Go for it and good choice on the XL650 the best money I ever spent on reloading press.

    34 gen 3 or gen 4

Get the gen 4 and Jäger RSA. As they mentioned in previous thread. For $30 more you got the extra mag and the grip extender with the bevertail to prevent slide bite and better grip
  6. I been using Dawson front and rear sights on mine 35 gen 4 with lone Wolf 9mm barrel. To me Dawson sights are the best just keep light oil film on them. They comes with 2 color optic every 6 month I swith the color on my sight that seems to keep me more focused. I wounder if shooters do that I mean switch color
  7. I been using Lee in 40 S&W for years and the last year on XL 650 they work great and they take care of the Glock bulge. The only thing I did different for them on the 650 I have to use Dilon die lock thing on the bottom of the die plate to adjust them to where the need to be for full sizing the brass.
  8. One more thing I forgot to mention if you have acces to a lathe. long time ago there was information on google on how to machine the the hornady bullet feeder flaring poweder tube the one it comes with the bullet feeder die to fit in the Dillon powder die if I recall they have picture of them together
  9. I just got the Hornady bullet feeder in 40 S&W from son for Christmas It works great on my XL650 I used the Dillon powder tube expander took few minutes to adjust but no issue at all I already loded more than 300 rounds with it. Also I been using the 9mm Hornady bullet feeder for awhile with no issue. You might want to fine tune the powder die to get the flare you need for the bullet. I use PD 180 gr bullets no issue at all. It is great tool.
  10. If the money not an issue go with M2 and never look back. I have the 21" with NC extension Briely LM it is great copo I never had any issue.
  11. Beneli M2 is exllent choice pay ones cry ones going on over 2000 round not a single issue. I have to lend it to few shooters after their brand X won't make it through the match.
  12. The 21" with LM choke on my Beneli M2 been working great for me but I am just occasional 3G shooter not going after the gold
