  1. Wow, great read..gonna need to decide if i truly have a need for a 45 pin gun..
  2. Thanks for the responses! All reasons put that into perspective, yea, as far as bowling pin match, if i ever had enough money to build one and play, i will have to look very hard. But dont end this thread, am still wanting feed back!
  3. I really like shooting 45acp and don't see many builds on them. Any reason? If i had to guess the purpose IF i did it would be for steel challenge/bowling pin match at my local club. As far as that goes, they have 2 categories...double stack, and single stack. Second question- anyone ever compd a 45? (Thinking a m&p 45)
  4. Yea, on his site, got to barrels- m&p- and then to combo kits. They are priced right for what you get and i get the feeing that if it wont work, he will help you figure it out.
  5. Looks good! Im so you are familiar with bobby carvers combo kit, that looks like a great kit that would really take your build to the next level..
  6. My original intentions were to fully trick out my M&P with everything i could. After a trigger and dawson sights, i shot my first ever match and won. So i still think i shoot a little better than my factory barrel does..so i kinda want a kkm barrel (without comp) now since no one else shoots one. What are your opinions about shooting your relatively stock gun against a guy with a tricked out one? Id think that eventually some will start thinking that the gun beat them, not the guy shooting it..
  7. Yea, ive started building mine, after talking to carver, i put an order in for his kit thats on b&b enterprises. Will have it around the end of the month.
  8. As told to me by Bobby Carver, his barrel and comp combo isnt designed around the 5" models. If you arent going open., that doesnt matter.
  9. Well, i have already installed the Apex competition kit, and have a nice set of Dawson adj sights with fiber optic front. Waiting to see if bobby gets barrels in threaded for his comp. this week, all else will follow after that.
  10. I could, but i would need to pay my gunsmith again (dont trust myself to mess with something that might send a bullet somewhere i dont intend) and since i had specifically ordered the competition kit, Dawson blamed Apex for the mis-label (it wasnt) now that i have both packages in front of me. One says "comp", the other "d/c" i just felt a little frustrated since i didnt know the difference and until i called Apex, was faced with a big hassle. Apex did more than they needed to to fix this, and only told them what the guy at Dawson's told me. I just was making a point to inform people that they should double-check everything first. And, i wasnt bashing Dawson..i bought theirs sights and couldn't be happier.
  11. Follow up...i called apex directly and the salesman fixed me right up with the correct kit! Apex is a terrific bunch to deal with!!
  12. Ordered the competition kit from dawsons since i ordered the sights from them hoping to save on shipping, apparently my trigger was mislabeled and after i called them, they want me to buy another trigger and then ship back the mislabeled trigger. I know that they need to cover themselves, i told them that with a match coming up im really in a bind and wont be able to cover other expenses if i do buy ANOTHER trigger, i guess lesson learned, buy from apex directly. And yes, i installed the trigger before i realized it wasnt what i ordered.
  13. So, should i call and swap out the parts for the competition model since thats what i ordered..
  14. Yes i did, tho i told them (dawson) that i wanted the competition trigger. This doesnt sound right, i wanted what everyone else is raving about as far as a light target trigger...
  15. I installed the kit (without the trigger itself) so it was more like changing a few springs, now i have LOTS of travel till it breaks right at the trigger stop. What do i do now? I thought this would cover my purposes, but the triggr is so close to the stop, I'm not sure it can be trusted...what now? (Without buying the rest of the kit)
  16. Thanks for the help, i will check all this out.
  17. I understand, i just want to try sights before making the jump to a dot. What is the best fiber optic sights that are adjustable and arent too tall?
  18. Hate to sound cheap here, but are there any sights that could be as fast, and almost as precise as a red dot? Im ok with the factory sights, but what would be a upgraded sight?
  19. Im shooting a 9mm, is it possible to shoot non-compd "flat" i can reload, and im fairly accurate now...
  20. Im at this point shooting only factory ammo at steel, im really wanting to trick out my gun and am headed down the kkm road, its going on my 4.25", should i get a barrel for a comp or not?
  21. I just bought the 9mm 4.25" barreled m&p with the boron treated slide. Now i just want it tricked out with a comp'd barrel (kkm im told) and trigger kit. Not positive it needs EVERY bell and whistle, i just want it to run well with factory loads AND minor loads, so getting springs is also on the list. Please if you have time, tell why i should buy it on your recomendation. Id much rather NOT have a box of useless parts on the road to a race gun. Thanks!
  22. Just bought the two-tone boron finished full size (4.25") thanks for the advise on the kkm barrel. I am wanting to shoot it this weekend.
  23. Im set on buying a M&P 9mm to build a open gun on. Im not sure on the model, the 4" or 5" so can you post your guns for me to see? Can you tell me why you picked what you did?
