  1. Just ordered a Primer Stop Switch and RotoCam for my 650. Can't wait to fit them!
  2. I've had only the BEST support from Apex! Installed a FSS kit my full size 9 that's worked flawlessly since day one, so I got another kit for a 9c. The 9c was nothing but problems, light primer strikes, failure to reset, and tons of over travel. I called Apex and the team they went ABOVE AND BEYOND to get the 9c running properly. In the end I sent it in and they discovered it was an issue with the receiver molding, a stack up of tolerances and some flashing was causing the problems. Supper support, awesome products! My 2 cents.
  3. I use RCBS seat/crimp dies on 9 and 45 with a bullet feeder and powder check. Been working great for me?

  5. I've had good results with extreme 115s in the past as well. I'm wishing now I'd have been more patient and ordered a brand of projectiles I had worked with previously instead of trying something new just because it was in stock. Live and learn
  6. Hey Team, thanks for the replies, much appreciated! - I check the powder charge every time I reload the primer tube (100 rounds). - I do spot check all my dimensions every hundred rounds or so and case gauge all rounds. I will admit I don't usually measure the projectiles regularly, maybe I should spot check a few before I pour them in the bullet feeder? - TightGroup works great for my supersonic 115gr rounds, and even with the 124gr I experimented with. I'd be willing to try another powder for subsonic 147s after making sure something else wasn't causing the issue. Having said that pretty well vested in TightGroup (I've bought a boatload of the stuff back in 2012) since I use it for 45 as well. - I haven't had a chance to load more at 3.2 and recheck the accuracy, hopefully I can this weekend while the rest of the world is Christmas shopping ) Thanks again Team, I'll keep you posted! Jim
  7. Good question Jack. I'll load some up this week and give it a try.
  8. My crimp measured .379 - .380 and here are the projectiles I pulled. There's a very fine line that I can just catch with my thumbnail but maybe enough to crease the plating and cause an issue at higher velocities? I'm used to dealing with Jacketed rounds this is new ground for me. Note: I changed the resolution of the previous pics for better viewing.
  9. Jack, I have not pulled any bullets but I can run out to the shop and do so. I'll post pics when I'm done. Not sure why you can't see the entire photo. Anyone else having that issue? Suffice to say for those may not see the photos, most of the groups are great with the exception of a couple of shots that went 5 to 6 inches off from center. EDIT: Resized Target photos in post above.
  10. Was testing a new subsonic 9mm round today in my Suppressed SBR and encountered some accuracy results that I don't understand. Thought you all might lend an opinion. Rifle: Rock River AR, 9" barrel, SWR Octane 9HD suppressor. All loads are Bullet Works 147gr RN plated, 1.135 OAL, CCI 500 primers, FC headstamp brass, TightGroup powder. Note: This is my first time using Bulletworks but the other components work wonderfully in my super sonic rounds. Data taken at muzzle with MagnetoSpeed chrono 3.2gr TightGroup (10 shots) Min:890 Max:931 Avg:909 3.4gr TightGroup (10 shots) Min:948 Max:980 Avg:964 3.6 TightGroup (10 shots) Min:968 Max:1018 Avg:1002 All strings shot from a rest @ 15 yards, everything cycled well, no pressure signs or operational hiccups. But if you look at the 3.4 and 3.6 strings both had flyers that were totally unexpected. I can assure you those are not shooter induced (I'm not great, but I'm not that bad). You might notice that the 3.6 target looks like there's only 9 hits. I'm at a loss.
  11. Make sure the fail safe rod is completely resetting on the down-stroke. You be compressing the spring at least half way.
  12. That works too, but I load up 5 or 6 tubes at a time.
  13. I just got straight into the Dillon tubes. You have to hold them just right but it works like a charm for me. Small and large primers.

  15. Hey Guys thanks for the replies! Think I have the problem licked but to response to your comments: - Yes I am using a case gauge, Wilson branded. - I am running thru a Lee sizer before trimming but only to deprime the cases. - Never heard of not letting the lube dry. The alcohol seems to dry up in just a few minutes leaving the lube behind. I re-cleaned and reset the die. But this time I paid very close attention to how I applied the lube. I lay the cases out on a towel with the case mouths facing me and lube them all at once. I noticed that with the angle I was spraying at, in order to get some lube in the case mouth, I wasn't doing a good job of hitting the base of the cases. This wasn't happening I guess with the shorter 300BLK cases I'd run before, or I just got lucky So, one pass on the case neck and one pass on the base and she ran like a champ! Got the trim length set and ran off 100 cases all before lunch! Now I'm off to go see the new Star Trek movie and start my 10 day vacation!! Have a safe weekend Guys! Jim
  16. I picked up a new Dillon 1200 trimmer about a month ago, and have successfully made/trimmed a couple hundred 300BLK cases (using a CH4D die) with no issues what so ever. In case you're wondering, I rough cut brass first and only take the last .025" off with the trimmer. Running a 650 by the way. Anyway to my problem: I finally picked up a 223, Dillon branded die for the trimmer today. Problem is can not get a single case threw it with out the case trying to stick in the die. As soon as the case gets half way into the die it binds right up and doesn't come out too easy either. I'm certain that if I just leaned on the handle the case would surely get stuck. I cleaned the die with break clean, dried it, and ran a patch with some Dillon lube thru the die. Lubed brass, again with Dillon lube and let it dry and it tries to stick every time. Went thru the whole process again with One Shot lube, same result. Using mixed headstamp brass: LC, REM, Speer, doesn't make a difference. I should also point out that all brass runs thru my Lee full-length sizer like a dream. I tried sizing/depriming before the trim die and going straight to the trim die. Makes no difference, they all try to stick. Hope some one can bump in the right direction. Thanks Guys, Jim
  17. Talked to Rick yesterday. The collator plates are the same.
  18. Ordered on 3/13/13, Still waiting. Dillon Casefeed Plate Small Rifle Dillon's Rapid Trim 1200B Case Trimmer Powder Funnels Type: 7.62x39/300Whisper/300Savage Rapid Trim 1200 B Size/Trim Die Caliber Type: .223 Remington XL 650 Quick Change
  19. Hey Guys, I also posted this in the General section, sorry for the double post. I have an older KISS bullet feeder, the version with the round nose guide if that helps. I have setups for 9mm, 45acp, and 223. My question is, will my current collator plates work in the new Double Alpha version? Im not too concerned if the output tube isnt an exact match as Im fairly sure I can turn one out in my lathe. Thanks, Jim

  21. +1 If the case won't drop out of the the case feed arm (#13716), and thru the body bushing it's a timing issue. Adjust the Black insert slider (#97082) and/or the Camming pin (#13371) Let us know what you find. Jimmy
  22. Yeah, This slower powder subject keeps coming up. I started with TiteGroup (perhaps foolishly) and have stuck with it for the year I've been reloading without issue. Now having said that I'm loading on a 650 with a powder check and I visual each round before placing a bullet. Yes, the powder check only indicates a squibs or double charges but it's great peace of mind, and I trust my powder drop. Just my 2 cents
  23. So I tried seating a couple of these primers last night and noticed that the Remington are about .005" taller than CCI, .125" vs .120". Using 223 Remington FC stamped brass the primer seems a bit high. Only about .001" or so, but still makes me uncomfortable. I'll load 5 and see what they do and report back. Thanks! Jim
  24. Hey Guys, Just getting started loading 223, been loading pistol for about a year. I've been loading 60gr Sierra HP over 23.5gr of W748, OAL 2.200", CCI 400 primers. I stumbled on some Remington 7.5 primers the other day and was so excited to find primers I just bought them without thinking. Got home to realize that they are equivalent to CCI Small Rifle Magnum (450), and not standard CCI Small Rifle (400) that I've been using. I've done some digging and can't really find any reference to using the 7.5s in 223 so I"m thinking that I'm stuck. Comments/Suggestions? Thanks, Jim
