Any progress? Can you share some pictures?

It was a success IMHO.   I needed both plates as I described above to get it mounted.   The FTP doesn't appear to create any ejection issues and the mount appears to be solid.

  2. I've always had love/hate relationship with the backstrap on my 2.0 4" Compact.   Loved it because it was so grippy, hated because it felt like I had a 20 grit belt sander strapped to my body after about 4 hours.

Anyway, I FINALLY got a 2.0 backstrap for my 1.0 M&P that has the texture that my 2.0 Compact features.   The other 2 I've obtained previously that were advertised as being "2.0" had a much more mild texture ala' the 1.0 version.

Now I will be unstoppable.  Ahem.  :)

  3. About the only powder I can find consistently these days is talcum.

Get yourself on a mailing list/waiting list somewhere and hope.   Given current market conditions, ANY shotgun powder is good powder.

I'd rather load 20 grains of PB than 16 grains of nothing.   :)

I actually found Action Targets then found them on Amazon and ordered from Amazon since they are cheaper that way.

I ordered them from Amazon this past summer.   I have to say I'm not all that impressed.   For example, the tuxedo targets' hard cover is not symmetrical.   Pre-painted targets are a time saver, but I don't think the extra cost justifies them, particularly since the black cover isn't applied all that accurately.

    Just my 0.02.

  5. I've loaded a ton of it in 45.  Works fine albeit a bit sooty.   Nothing I can't live with though.    I'm currently loading in 9mm minor with 124 coated bullets.   Works just fine there too.   It meters well and consistently.   A bit sooty but it wipes off easily.

I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

    Not a 2.0 .. but ...

I have a 5 inch 40 S&W Core and strangely ... about every 3200-3500 rounds (I keep a log) the gun starts it's "short distance ejection" routine.

It doesn't fail to shoot or eject in any way ... it simply starts tossing cases out limply (right at your feet).

This always ends up being carbon/trash/sludge under the ejector (third time just recently).

I use this opportunity to take everything out of the slide ... clean it all and re-assemble.

Other than an occasional light barrel and slide slot oiling it really doesn't get anything else (and nothing has ever broke).

It is a Production gun and has spent it life shooting minor PF 40s. 🙄

Under the extractor or the ejector?

  7. Get yourself a nice solid rest of some kind.   Put up a target about 15-20 yards downrange.   Carefully squeeze off a few rounds into the the target (say 3-5 rounds).   Adjust the dot accordingly.   Repeat as necessary.   Once the rounds are impacting more or less in a cluster around your point of aim, you are sighted in.

  8. During one of my trips to TR, Clint was talking about how everyone with previous military experience insisted they were a sniper during their stint.   No one ever claimed to be a cook or a truck driver.

Having been to TR before and heard the same observation from Clint, I was ready with my response.

    "I drove the sniper truck."

  9. I don't see the need for really "top end" boutique dies for reloading ammo intended for practical shooting games.   Standard ordinary dies are fully capable of producing ammo more than accurate enough for the games.

Reliability is the key factor.   Does your finished product feed reliably in the pistol?   That's your primary goal.   Precision ammo is worthless if it doesn't feed reliably.

Get a good, quality set of calipers would be my other advice.

  10. As for me, I obviously got the RO ticket from the class, but I learned how to RO from running squads with experienced RO's.

Frankly, I don't know that anyone should sport the RO tag until they've actually run squads in an actual match after RO training.

I get that, but fortunately I never run shooters as an RO indoors. Not much of a fan of shooting indoors at all. Mostly do it to test, chrono etc..  After participating in a couple of indoor matches I would rather Dry Fire at home than attend indoor matches.

    That's where I'm at.
